  1. From what I've read about this, from the Delaware Gazette, is that one court has already said no to DCCS, and that the school board wasn't really excited in spending more on appealing the case. Though they aren't crazy about the alternative either. But work has started on expanding the DCCS campus on US 23 South. Haven't heard what will become of the (original) campus on 521, east of Delaware, yet.

Thank goodness that WWCD is hanging on still (though there is a religious broadcaster at 'CD's original frequency)
  4. Also, the Berkshire Twp. trustees have discovered that they've been played for fools this entire time. http://delgazette.com/news/33399/berkshire-township-trustees-seek-support-vs-odot
  5. I think 22 years ago when the Polaris interchange was built. But DelCo had been wishing for southern interchange since before Alum Creek Reservoir was filled in.

Solar power coming to Kilbourne (I believe) http://oursolar.coop/consolidated/
  7. Hi guys (and gals) Found this link via FB (at the ever popular "You know you're from Delaware, OH when..." group) Any of you heard about this development between Delaware and Lewis Center? http://www.thisweeknews.com/content/stories/olentangy/news/2016/01/19/development-idea-sprouts-at-evans-farm.html Easton Light?
  8. Truth be told, I was looking around to see if anyone knew more about the 'abrupt demise' of the ValleyDale Ballroom than what I had heard this week. Came upon this thread and figured I can add to it (Bridge widening, factual. Fly-over ramp, fantasy on my part)
  9. ^ This type of JEDD is pretty common across Ohio. I think it's because townships can't have an income tax, so they partner with a city for a big development like this. Then the city and township split the tax revenue. Perhaps the city is providing some of the infrastructure as well. Delaware city has stated that they're going to use their cut to remodel "the point" (intersection US 36/Oh 37 on the eastside of Delaware) for a third time. Possibly widen the railroad overpass to allow for 4 lanes of traffic to continue up to the ODOT District 6 HQ, or maybe they'll build a flyover ramp for EB Oh 37 through the church (that is for sale), over William Street (US 36) and the railroad, through the mobile home park and the bowling alley, and leave vehicles 100 yards to crossover two lanes of traffic in order to reach the left turn lane for 521 to Kilbourne and Magyar estates. ;-)

Granted, its 6 months after the fact, but thanks of thinking of me. And please say 'Hey' if we cross paths on Facebook, or someplace in real life. :-)
  11. Someone asked for a map of Akron highway projects? I got one from 1963. :drunk:
  12. You mean Sherman hasn't kept the rest of you abreast of my location the last couple of years? I've lost everyone (except Sherman's) contact info while in Louisiana. The mall story popped up today and looking for stories/discussion about it, thought about you guys (and gals). Can't say I recognize much here. lol.
  13. I guess that cinches the "new" I-71-US 36/Oh 37 interchange for south of the present one. (Only took me 8 hours to correct "cinches" :shoot:)
  14. ^ Strange that the article about the "old" Clintonville Appliances store doesn't mention the failed development plan, for the SW corner of High St. and WN Broadway which led to Clintonville Appliances and the Dance studio to abandon that location back in 2004/05. While I can't speak to the finances of the folks that owned Clintonville Appliances, I'm certain that building would be in better shape today (or at least before the car accident this weekend) if Clintonville Appliances would of stayed.
  15. Been better. Gained a degree, lost a parent, saw a hurricane, or two, or three.
  16. I remember that city. It must of been....6 months ago.

Since Jeffery mentioned the demise of the Columbus Blues Alliance "Blues Garage" @ comfest in his photo thread, and theres always the questions as to the how & why about comfest, I'll see what I can fill in. Concerning the Blues Garage. From what I was told (when I talked to my "former" cohorts in the CBA back on Sunday) was that the relationship between "comfest" and the CBA had deteriated since '04 to the point the CBA was not asked to be part of comfest this year. One of the guys who helps to book musicians for comfest is Jeff Rosenbloom (Jeff used to book acts for Blues Station, and I think still books for Oldfields on High [if that still exists]). Jeff was brought "into the fold (CBA)" back in 2004 and then promply proceeded to piss off all the officers except for Sean Carney (then president) and myself [then membership Coord/office manager] (Jeff's personality rubbed everyone the wrong way). Also, supposedly, there has been complaints over the years from neighbors of the "Blues Garage" that the music was too loud, and we ran shows too late. But supposedly stupid little things like musicians (and/or CBA staff) illegally parking next to the garage, the bands being electric instead of acoustic, and using a drumset (of all things) is what led to "comfest" shuting down the Blues Garage. From listening to the CBA's side of the story, I'd say "comfest" has been so used to getting their way and the CBA sort of running the Blues Garage unchecked (the Blues Garage wasn't even mentioned in the Comfest programs till 2004) led to this conflict of which "comfest" decided not to allow the Blues Garage this year. As to whether the Blues Garage will happen next year, right now I'd say it's 67% not going to happen. "comfest" - Candi Watkins and the Mendelson Brothers (theres others but those are the only names I can think of right now). How long those 3 have been part of Comfest I don't know. Somehow I doubt they were there when it started in 1970 (not 1975, not the 80s, nor the 90s). And they've been running a profit for quite awhile now. When I last talked to Candi Watkins (this was back in 2004) she mentioned the charities Comfest was funding for several years prior to then. Alot of their money does come from beer sales. I've never been privy to how their aquire and disperse their capital. As for cops showing up during Comfest, unless there are assults, murders, rapes, or robberies, you will see a minimal police force at Comfest. If the worse thing anyone sees there are topless grandmoms, weed, and overzelous usage of the 1st amendment, then good luck in finding a cop. Comfest is no more conservative than your favorite rock band "selling out." The folks that put together Comfest are still old-school (which might be part of the problem) leftist at heart, but after insultating themselves from opposing viewpoints they don't work well with others now. You know what they say about absolute power causing absolute coruption. That may well be the case with Comfest now.
  21. Either that or Sunday, approx. 3:30 @ Thirsty Ear Tavern in Grandview (I'll be there to catch up with some blues friends of mine that I've rarely seen since I left town several years back)

Or if you go to "hurricane land" you get to see flags like this.... (That confederate flag is supposed to be in purple and gold, the school colors for Louisiana St.)

^And to think, several years ago people would write to sports page to complain that the Dispatch was not critical enough of the Blue Jackets because the newspaper (corporation) was a part-owner of the team.
