Gallipolis / Gallia County: Developments and News
In reference to Silver Bridge, there should be one, if not two, websites concerning it's collapse. If you go to the State Library and go through the old Ohio Dept. of Highways (forerunner to ODOT) newsletters, there is bunch of info on the bridge collapse there.

Warren County growth
Still doesn't resolve the $$$/tax issue.

Warren County growth
Well, if they want to promote agriculture, here's what they need: 1. Find farmers. 2. Once found, pay farmers 3. Since the county can't control the cost of land, they can control the taxes due for the land (designate some sort of tax break for those using land for agricultural useage.) I wish them luck, but there have been fewer and fewer farmers since the begining of the 20th Century. Those wanting more farms have NO IDEA what's involved in running a farm. Why don't they ask Farmer Brown's son why he rather be a carpenter or a Networks Annalysis instead of running in perpetual debt, watching the market prices for Wheat, Corn, Oats, and Soybeans continually drop while fertilizers and insecticide prices go up (due to enviromental concerns, but that's another story). And land prices.....That's what's driving all of this abandonment of farming in Ohio. And it's something NO politician (local, state, or federal) can control. Land is no long finite, so now it has worth. And when you're 70 years old, tired of being in debt, and have no one to cede the farm to. Guess what happens next. Try to come up with a solution to that!

Two losses later... What has happened to the Buckeyes? Defense? Offense? Line play? QB? RB? All of the above?

Cleveland - House of Blues update!
Shame on me for guessing then. I figured it would be in the Near North area where the 2nd generation blues bars are located (Kingston Mines & B.L.U.E.S.)

- Medina, Ohio
Back in the late 80s I had to learn Ohio History (7th grade, we had no options) and the text book we used (which was probally published between 1980-1985) did a brief mention about Medina trying to attrach visitors/customers (the time line for the following I don't know, but I'd imagine it would be anywhere from the mid 60s up till 1980). Evidently, they first tried some sort of corrigated metal look to the exterior of the businesses. Thankfully, they quickly reconsidered and decided to go with the "old fashioned" look, which still stands today evidently. Also, can anyone ID that car in the first photo? It looks more antique than the courthouse.- New Knowlton School of Architecture Building Opens at OSU
I'm just glad the saga is over. Now how do we save Brown Hall?- Cities with a square, a main street, or an intersection...

Get used to it. They really suck. At least they're doing better than the Southern Co-champs from last year.- New Philadelphia, Ohio
If the best they could of done for their historical marker was a series of maps showing how the county was laid out, then they should of found another topic or sent that marker elsewhere. :(- Where did you find Urbanohio????
Here's my story. Back in January of this year (or was it December of last year?) Chris (ColDayMan) posted some of my photos on here and when I did my weekly check of who's viewing my website (shameless plug time [since it's not on the links page here] http://htto://www.roadfan.com/ohsigns.html for the Ohio specific material) I saw this site listed on my referal links part of my stat page and came here to check it out, and been here since (for better or for worse). And my site has been getting "hits" from the skyscraper pages for several years now as well.- CVG: Delta and Comair news

And Crabgrass Frontier by Ken Jackson. Then there's plenty of urban/suburbian books that deal with specific cities. City of Quartz by Mike Davis (Los Angeles) Here's the Deal by Ross Miller (Chicago) Personal Geography by Henry Hunker (Columbus) Confused City on a Seesaw by Phil Porter (Cleveland...published in 1976) Along with the various planning textbooks you can get at the various university bookstores.- Random Ohio Sports Talk
The ESPN crew keep mentioning "how close" the MAC teams were playing the established schools yesterday (well, other than Akron and Toledo). OSU should of won all its games yesterday.- Metro Toledo: Road & Highway News
Isn't the US 22 bridge between Weirton WVa and Stubenville set up like the proposed I-280 bridge?- Random Ohio Sports Talk
That's strange. I could of swore the title of this thread is OHIO Sports talk, NOT CINCINNATI Sports talk. I mean when was the last time a Browns fan addressed the Bengals on here (before this post)? Remember, the Bengals still have Mike Brown as their owner. Nuff said! Now if you still want to talk about Cincinnati football, we can discuss what the final point differential will be between the Bearcats and the Buckeyes (is that this weekend or next?) will be. :) - New Knowlton School of Architecture Building Opens at OSU
