I'll get Nick Saban to come back to Cleveland.....if anyone cares (7 days between posts don't show much interest)
  2. http://www.dickcorp.com/dickcorp/company/news/default.asp#art3 [shameless plug time - http://www.roadfan.com/mainbr.html with photos of the Main St. bridge I took last year] Now there's something for Cincy and Cleveland to be jealous over! :)

One of the funniest signs I've ever seen was in Zanesville, circa 2000. Some guy had opened an hearing aid shop and he used a Pepsi sign to say he sold hearing aids! Several years later I went through Zanesville and the hearing aid sellsman either got wise and changed the sign, or wasn't wise and went out of business (because the Pepsi sign was gone)

Louisiana State's soccer team is going to be in Columbus in 3-4 weeks for some tourney OSU is hosting. (Like anyone here, including me, cares :drunk: )

Of course, he starts Ohio Sports talk after I move to Louisiana. I'm going to make a point to get a ticket down here for the LSU-OSU b-ball game in January.
  6. IIRC, Mills was originally to have built the Polaris Mall, 11-13 years ago. They wanted some sort of TIF package and at that time, the Olentangy School Board (Southern DelCo) balked at it. Then Wexner came out with his Easton proposal and Mills quietly backed out of the Polaris proposal and had some tie in (or buy out) with Wexner. I never cared for Tuttle. Never had any stores I cared for (I think it's ratio of women oriented to men oriented stores was 15:1), and was out of the way for me. I have no idea if it's doing well, inbetween, or bad; you never heard anything about it (be it press or buzz). City Center on the other hand has it's trouble well knowned and hopefully Mills can get back "on track."
  7. He didn't visit the westside of Marion. Home of a former Steam Shovel plant (whose name escapes me, but was the major employer for Marion for many years), that will make you think of Mansfield. The first strike against Marion proper was the opening of Southland Mall on the southern outskirts of town. Now even that mall is falling into disrepair due to folks from Morrow, Delaware, and Union Counties who used to travel north for the same services, with less hassle than the Columbus stores, are now going to Polaris, Easton, and Tuttle malls because they have stores Marion could only dream about, or are closer/easier to reach than the previous malls/shops in Columbus.

Well, there's Cleveland Rocks by Ian Hunter(?) Ohio (By Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young) Readin' Writin' Route 23 by Dwight Yoakam (from C-bus) Cincinnati, Ohio by Connie Smith Theme to 'WKRP in Cincinnati' Dayton, Ohio 1903 and Burn on Big River by Randy Newman Hello Cleveland - Mono Also look up Cleveland International Records (1977-1983?), they had a handful of NE Ohio titled songs. And lastly, I did cheat and looked on this following page for Ohio locations: http://www.mapville.com/riback/places.htm
  9. Now I know what Keb Mo' was singing about when he says, "Could be God trying to get your attention." :)

I ask for soda pop if I'm in a place I'm unfamiliar with. Or ask if they serve Coke or Pepsi products.

That's why the Governor's mansion is in Bexley, and former Gov. Rhodes lived in Upper Arlington. Otherwise (in modern times) First Dublin and now Easton (though that is technically inside Columbus city limits) are where the new rich and powerful like to reside.

They can't. No city can go into more than one state. (Even Kansas City Mo/Ks is two seperate political entities) Now if Ohio could Annex Newport and Covington (and pass constitutional muster), then Cincy could try to claim them as their own.

Reading the replys of the "outsiders" whining about Columbus is just funny. You're just proving the author of the article right (or falling into his trap).
  16. Are there millions of people would want to gamble? Does anyone have the numbers that the Indiana, Windsor, and West Virginia casinos are drawing?

Then don't bother visiting Blues Station in the Arena District.
  18. Your firm wouldn't be hiring entry level planners now would they? :res: :santa:
  19. I am an alum of Ohio State University (class of 2002) with a BA in Geography. I am technically unemployed, but spend my time as the unofficial office manager for the Columbus Blues Alliance. Besides ocasionally checking the mail and answering machine, I am officially the Membership Coordinator for said group and write record reviews and ocasional articles for our newsletter as well. As of August, I will be moving from C-bus to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to enroll in Louisiana State's Graduate program. Since we're all mentioning our websites. I am one half of the team that maintains Roadfan.com. For the uninitated, it covers the highway history of Ohio, Michiana, Philadelphia, Pa, Mississippi Delta, Lincoln Highway, and the proposed I-73 project. Along the way I photograph bridges, goofy highway signs, and urbanscapes in Ohio and beyond (which some of you love to post on the Skyscraperpage forums). I was mentioned in a column by Joe Blundo (of the Columbus Dispatch) in Sept. 2002 due to roadfan.com and I had a photograph published in an edition of (Cleveland) Builders Exchange in Feburary 2003 as well. Any questions?
