Cincinnati: Mayor John Cranley
It always feels like pointing out hypocrisy, no matter how blatant, has no effect.

Cincinnati City Council
I would have preferred this be a smaller step, like allowing closed meetings for personnel decisions (only fair for personal privacy, IMO). But something so nuanced would be virtually impossible to educate the public on, so I can see why they just went with following the state rules. It's the clearest ballot language there could be, and at least there is precedent for these rules; a valid criticism of my preference would be that it's more ad hoc and untested.

Ohio's 1st Congressional District
I suspect firing Topy is another amateur mistake, amplifying the issue into something more than it is. Aftab had no room for error in this race, but he made some small errors than were then blown out of proportion and fatal.

Cincinnati Brewery / Beer / Alcohol News
Bad Tom Smith is such a weird one. No one talks about them in Cincinnati, and they're way out in Linwood. Which isn't exactly a hot neighborhood. But they have a taproom in the heart of Ohio City in Cleveland, of all places. They have a Wild West aesthetic, which doesn't seem to jibe that well with the craft beer scene. I don't know, it's just an enigma to me.

^ That would've been awesome 10 years ago.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
That's kind of an extreme example, though. Bonobos and Warby Parker aren't at Sbarro level. Also, a market isn't the same as a downtown street, which has a lot more flexibility with its retail before losing its identity as a downtown street than a market would. The Banks could cross the line a lot easier than 4th Street could. 4th Street Live! in Louisville has already crossed the line, I think. If 4th Street in Cincy follows that mold (or a retail equivalent), I'll agree.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Malls and then "Lifestyle Centers" replaced downtown retail. It's kind of weird to allege a return to the OG is just mimicking the mimickers.

Ohio's 1st Congressional District
Pureval's scored a few own-goals, but his treatment by the elections commission and courts seems unfair and politically motivated. Either they should've rushed a ruling on the campaign finance issue or they should've held off on everything until after the election. It's not right to trickle things out as the campaign drags on.

City politics is going full Trump. ?

Cincinnati Brewery / Beer / Alcohol News
Dayton media often refers to anything in Warren or Butler as within the Dayton region.

US Economy: News & Discussion
Trump tries to have it both ways on basically everything. Just put out two contradictory statements and then point to whichever one is more convenient in any given situation, like "this is what I've been saying all along." It's one of his key strategies.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
This is a good point, and indicates it would be a really good idea to implement other improvements first. Then the "relaunch" can happen for the improved system.

^ My bet is they will do it before 2030.

Cincinnati Brewery / Beer / Alcohol News
I haven't been impressed with anything I've tried from BrewDog. Apparently their #1 seller in the U.S. is Elvis Juice, which is a beer I frankly find repulsive. Good to have something of an internationally known rarity in the city, though. At least until they expand further, which seems inevitable given their trajectory since they arrived in Canal Winchester.

Ohio Transit Funding
I don't expect Renacci would support boosting funds to public transit, but Brown might. So take your pick of which is more important: having auto users pay more of their share for infrastructure, or having transit get more funding. Then you can also look at the potential impact on the deficit of both of those stances, or potentially that's irrelevant to you entirely.

Cincinnati: Bars / Nightlife News
I didn't say you were a yuppie. I said I hope straight yuppies have your reaction to the place. They tend to be the demographic that waters down the gayness of gay bars. Not that there's anything wrong with a straight yuppie going to a gay bar, but there are so many of them in the population versus gay people that it quickly creates an imbalance if a gay bar attracts that demographic.
-
Cincinnati: Bars / Nightlife News
Hopefully straight yuppies have @jeremyck01's reaction. With such a small percentage of the population being gay, it's too easy for gay bars to be overrun by well-intentioned straight people. That phenomenon and dating/hook-up sites & apps have been erasing gay culture for almost 20 years now.

Cincinnati: Car-sharing services
So...are they constantly playing ads from sponsors inside the car? Do you have to watch videos before you can hail a ride? Does the app require permissions to an arm, a leg, and your first born? Not getting how this works financially. Can you tip through the app?
