Cincinnati: Western Hills Viaduct
I doubt anyone will have success trying to stop the viaduct from being replaced. But trying to get the new viaduct to have transit and bike accommodations is possible.

It depends how they are treated -- designed, zoned & targeted for development, but yeah.

Greater Cincinnati Metro (SORTA) and TANK News & Discussion
As long as council doesn't roll over, they can continue to complain all they want about a bad nomination. Cranley and Mack's supporters tried to make the confirmation hearing about the streetcar, but the council majority successfully shot the narrative down by not acknowledging it and keeping their comments to what their actual problems with the nomination were.

^^ That also explains the "beet juice" comment someone upthread reported an operator making. The brakes don't work as well in cold weather.

Cincinnati: West End: TQL Stadium
It seems like FCC is speedily shuffling around trying to check some boxes to get asked to the prom by MLS, and it seems like that is related to the West End stuff. Maybe they will take it more slowly than I expect; I hope they do. If you all-in stadium fans are confident a full public input process is going to be carried out with the West End community and CPS, then I think you guys shouldn't be so worried about Josh Spring, et. al.

Cincinnati: West End: TQL Stadium
The part that makes it toxic is the timing crunch. Which is a 100% unnecessary component of this, and a product of FCC putting all discussion off until after the election. There's no time to go through a proper public input process now. People aren't acting like babies; they're acting like people who were unfairly shut out of the process.

Cincinnati: West End: TQL Stadium
Neighborhood residents are upset that they're being shut out of the conversation. And who can blame them? Especially given the history of the neighborhood. But also given the way the whole stadium thing has gone. FCC ownership prefers to flex their muscles to get what they want, rather than showing their hand by engaging the community.

They won't have a choice with eminent domain. They won't be setting the price.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Another issue is that what's high-end in Cincinnati apparently isn't high-end enough to warrant quality building & materials, in most cases. I don't know if that's because the developers legitimately can't make the numbers work or if there's another reason.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Seems to me the only way this gets fixed is if all the green balloon people get organized again and lobby city council. The neglect is too damaging to wait. Get a clear set of demands and make them, loudly.

Amtrak & Federal: Passenger Rail News
My memory is hazy of exactly how late it was, being that this was several years ago. It was at least 2 hours late.

Amtrak & Federal: Passenger Rail News
The trip ended up taking over 20 hours. NYC to Cincy is supposed to take ~18.

Amtrak & Federal: Passenger Rail News
I took the Cardinal from NJ to Cincy once and we hit a pickup truck at a crossing. It was icy and the truck slid onto the tracks. The occupants of the truck escaped before impact, but we were stuck there for a couple hours.

Driverless Cars
Vehicle connectivity and autonomy are related, but not the same. The current crop of autonomous vehicles that are operating in a limited capacity have little to be connected to, yet are "self-driving." "Connected Autonomous Vehicles" (CAVs) is the industry jargon.

Ohio's 1st Congressional District
This would only be true if there were a more even geographical distribution of voters. The way it is, the R-voters are spread out and the D-voters are concentrated in one area. An area which "conveniently" is split up by an oddly-shaped boundary, while areas in all the other parts of the region have clean lines. ?
