  1. ^ It's weird how that ignores existing Amtrak lines.
  2. Once again, the Bearcats got ridiculously lucky, winning a home game 15-13 vs. a mediocre Temple due to a super-weird safety (blocked point-after-touchdown returned to the end zone). The 10-1 record feels icky. Winning at Memphis on Friday seems virtually impossible. And if they lose, the AAC championship game will be...against Memphis, at Memphis. Losing either will probably take them out of the running for the Cotton Bowl, and may very well position them for an invitation to the Liberty Bowl. Which is at the Memphis Tigers' stadium. ?‍♂️ That may be a fittingly humbling ending to a season where the team has gotten away with way too much.
  3. It also happens to sidewalks, utility poles, etc. It's as ugly as the worst illegal graffiti.
  4. It's the knock-off DAAP ?
  5. The "ice cage" falls into the "anyone could do this" category, if I'm understanding it correctly. NYC could do some more creative things with abandoned subway tunnels or the like that would be more like Ghost Baby and uniquish.
  6. Actually, you wouldn't find it in NYC or just about anywhere else, because other places don't generally have 1800s lagering cellars. That plus the CSO collaboration, plus the owners aggressively seeking media attention, is why there's so much hype.
  7. Wait till the students at OSU hear about Christopher Columbus.
  8. This could be an opportunity to tout a "Smart City" solution, and have the pedestrian signal first when a streetcar isn't waiting/approaching and the streetcar signal first if there is a streetcar waiting/approaching. Or, really, just give an approaching streetcar preemption on every single light. #SmartCity

My first thought when I saw it was this Sega CD game: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sewer_Shark
  10. It's probably just interior demolition. So the space can be divided up as the owners want, and built out how future tenants want it.
  11. It doesn't make much sense to make a land use classification based upon population density. You could have a 99% agricultural tract with a prison designated as urban and an office park designated as rural.
  12. It'll definitely be some help, but I'm not sure about a game-changer. Attracting more development on the block may be the best contribution to hope for. Who knows, though, maybe it will be massively popular.
  13. Something is wrong with this team, and it's not just Ridder playing through an injury. They need to get the offense sorted out, or exposure is coming. Meanwhile, the 'cats still control their own destiny as far as getting into the Cotton Bowl.
  14. It was the opening weekend, so I wouldn't get too hyped about the long term change being that significant. I had their food a couple times at different BD places in London (not really my choice; my friend I was visiting there was an "equity punk" and liked to visit them for discounted beverages and to fill in her "passport" thingy for which each location has a different stamp). They had solid burgers (vegetarian and not) and cauliflower buffalo wings. I was grading on a curve to some degree, since Europe doesn't generally do American food so well, but it was legit and didn't really need the curve.
  15. ? I've been thinking about this ever since the hub was announced. Hopefully the issue is mitigated to the degree possible and the benefits outweigh the detriments.
  16. It will be interesting to see the effect the transit hub has on the NBD. I've heard "those people" arguments about the major bus stops attracting "loiterers" drinking and littering and keeping people from wanting to open businesses. But moving major bus stops away from Hamilton would seem to remove a lot of foot traffic that could be supporting the existing businesses,
  17. Maybe. I think the similarity in name to White Claw goes a long way toward making it clear what Kitty Paw is. Anyway,. I was being somewhat tongue-in-cheek about Kitty Paw as being the brand to beat. I just think the Vive branding doesn't seem consistent with the product or target audience. Interesting, I didn't know these were spiking in popularity. They were getting big before the haze craze (NEIPA) was getting big, but the appetite for ~4.5-5% IPAs seemed to be replaced by enthusiasm for ~6% NEIPAs (still weaker than the 7+% west coast IPAs that ushered in the craft beer wave). Maybe session NEIPAs will be the new hotness.
  18. It would be interesting to see some stats like population within an MSA within a half-mile from a walkable (zero-setback, etc.) business district.

It would only make sense if it were built in conjunction with (a) commuter/LRT line(s).
  20. That branding is more reminiscent of vitamin water or some high-electrolyte drink. I don't see how they compete in the market space with the likes of Kitty Paws.

Sounds like @MyTwoSense is ready to move to Cincinnati.
  22. That's where lobbying comes in. So you get things like safety ratings on vehicles determined solely based on safety of the occupants, ignoring the safety of anyone else involved in a potential collision. Therefore the heftier the car, the "safer," and you have a veritable arms race. Also things like @GCrites80s pointed out with CAFE standards. Ratings, standards, and regulations which manipulate the market toward more profitable vehicles that exacerbate the socially detrimental sides of automobile ownership.

The house is pretty close to XU, so it could be the mutant college in the uni.

^ Agreed. The snowy shots are especially nice.
  25. So now it comes out that they were planning to delay the bus tax vote again.
