  1. Eh...the Ward pick had the Browns on the Jets 7 and they couldn't punch it in even with Baker Touchdownmaker. They also couldn't secure a first down when they needed it at the end of the game and gave the Jets offense one more chance. The OL still has problems maybe very bad is an overstatement but I don't think it's middle of the road yet.
  2. What exactly was "get rid of him" wrong with Taylor today? Some inconsistency and one pick, otherwise a good game. The offense was inept, Taylor's decision making was awful, he missed wide open receivers, he threw an INT at crunch time (his one claim to fame is that he usually doesn't turn the ball over), he didn't step up in the pocket, he actually ran into a sack when the left side was wide open for a QB run or pass, etc. I'm really not surprised though. Everyone knows that Taylor is at best an average quarterback. This is the guy who was actually benched for Nathan Peterman for crying out loud. It's only a matter of time before he is benched for the Heisman winner and #1 overall pick. How many times did Tyrod revert to that little dump off pass 3 years down field right over the line of scrimmage. It must have been 6 times in the last two drives. It seems like he was always looking for the relief valve. Count me in on the "let's try Baker" bandwagon. Browns fans are the worst. This is why we keep ruining rookie QBs (or playing guys like Manziel when we're 7-4.). We were expected to lose the first two games even if we're much better this year, and we tied the Steelers and would have beaten the Saints if we had a kicker and you're calling for the QB's head already? Come on. Uhhh...... ;D ;D ;D 8) I can think of 1.7 million reasons to start Baker now. :) The Browns OL is still very, very bad. If Baker is the regular started, Tyrod will likely still get chances before the season is over. With an improved D the Browns need to address the OL in the draft. Please!!
  3. Exactly. An airport should never have been placed on the Lakefront, regardless if land was existing or manufactured. We have swaths of parking lots, a highway, and an airport that has suffered from major decline along our lakefront. https://clevelandhistorical.org/items/show/433 “All of the vegetation and wildlife now present has occurred naturally, including more than 280 species of birds and several varieties of butterflies. Revitalization of the area occurred after the last fill deposit without human intervention (planting, seeding, or stocking). However, some grooming activity has enhanced the site for birding walks. Dike 14 is held under public trust by the State of Ohio, and is currently under lease to Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority. The Cleveland Lakefront Nature Preserve formally opened to the public on a daily basis in February 2012.“ Burke was built in '47. Cleveland was a dynamic and growing area at the time. There was a vision which Hopkins would reach capacity and Burke would be a reliever. Obviously things changed but to say leaders back then had no future vision is wrong. Cleveland was a different place then. Not go to off subject but people complain and complain about Burke yet don't blink an eye that Cleveland used to have a beautiful river valley which was essentially destroyed for steel mills. Yet those mills made Cleveland. At the time it was cost effective to use the river as a resource so good-bye forested valley. Without a proper context, second guessing past decisions is easy.
  4. What's the point of keeping a coach than can't coach winning? Continuity of losing? Because it's hard to bring in another one? This organization has set the lowest bar for HC employment since at least the AFL-NFL merger. I'm really confused as to why some fans still want him around. Okay I'm curious who you would hire if you were GM? If the Browns lose to the Jets and Raiders they're 0-3-1 and never going 9-4 to make the playoffs. Let Haley run the show. Not sure how the NFL would feel about Williams being an HC again. See what shakes out from this season and see who's available in the off-season or keep Haley on. A sad fact: If Haley can get 2 wins in 13 games as a HC/OC this season it would be more than Hue had in 2 seasons. I'm positive he could do it too. I'm curious how many losses does Hue get if you were GM? What's the lowest winning pct. since the merger with 50+ games coached? He has to be close to the record now with 9-40-1. All this said: Hue please beat the Jets. Prove the doubters wrong.
  5. He's going for 2 wins in 35 tries. Who? Anybody, literally. Beat the Jets. The Browns are at home after two competitive games against SB contenders. The Jets just got manhandled by the so-so Dolphins and even with the almighty Sam Darnold they are not expected to make the playoffs. Vegas even thinks Hue can do it. No more excuses, win. What's the point of keeping a coach than can't coach winning? Continuity of losing? Because it's hard to bring in another one? This organization has set the lowest bar for HC employment since at least the AFL-NFL merger. I'm really confused as to why some fans still want him around. I just have a feeling Hue will find a Hue way to blow this game. Really hope I'm wrong.
  6. Chicago had a lot going on in the lakefront areas even before Meigs closed. Closing Burke, to me, is not some sort of panacea which will transform Cleveland into Chicago. To create some form of an urban neighborhood attraction it will need to be nurtured well after the airport is closed. The other issue with Burke is the I-90 barrier which separates Burke for the rest of Cleveland. Not quite sure any Burke park will do anything to lift neighborhoods on the other side of S. Marginal. Also, when I talk to most visitors to Cleveland from the Mid-Atlantic they complain about the ugliness of the Cuyahoga valley in Cleveland south of the Innerbelt Bridge and not so much the lack of a lakefront neighborhood or park. I know that's a harder issue to tackle.
  7. Who’s lining up to develop this site? Has anyone shown any interest?
  8. See: Roberto Aguayo We're using the Bucs front office as an example? Ouch. ;D And the Bears, and Panthers, and Chargers. Point being - you don't hang on to something because it cost you if it doesn't work. Zane is a talented kicker - but its not the position where you can "give him time to come around" Wait, but you keep the 1-32-1 coach? You guys crack me up! Hue gets soooo many passes yet Zane's head must be chopped off for two bad games. Yeah, aside from saying I thought we should keep him GOING into this season, idk where I said we should keep Hue? The sunk cost fallacy applies to Hue as much as Zane. Zane had one really bad game, the Steelers game wasn't ideal for kicking. Hue has had more bad games than any NFL coach should be allowed to have. I believe the Jets game should be a referendum on Hue.
  9. Browns are 3-point favorites over the Jets at home. Win this game, Hue. The coaching excuse machine has to break down at some point. http://www.vegasinsider.com/nfl/odds/las-vegas/line-movement/jets-[/member]-browns.cfm/date/9-20-18/time/2020

  11. You’d like to believe that but: Coleman, Erving, Manziel, Gilbert, Mingo, Weeden, Taylor Drafting a kicker is a bit unusual vs. something like the Corey Coleman situation and they did get a pick for Coleman. Other stuff is from those "ancient" regimes.
  12. They're 2-0, so... So they're the SB Champs? Cause 2-0 means 19-0! ;D

  14. See: Roberto Aguayo We're using the Bucs front office as an example? Ouch. ;D Let's see, it's interesting Zane is still part of Berea as of now. Maybe they are waiting to sign a replacement, maybe not. I just have a weird feeling Zane will still be here for the Jets game.
  15. I don't believe they'll cut Zane. They spent a pick on the guy. They need to get value out of him.
  16. If continuity is the rational way why not trade back for Kiser? Give him three years to blossom. Or what about Sashi? He drafted a kicker which is never done and then wasted it on good 'ole Zane. I hate attacking the fan base. It's so silly. The Browns organization isn't this bad because of the fans, it's because it has been run by two inept owners: Randy Lerner followed by Jimmy Haslam. When Al Lerner was the owner the Browns weren't actually so bad as much as they we're coming out of expansion. The fans control nothing about the organization except it's profitability.
  17. What exactly was "get rid of him" wrong with Taylor today? Some inconsistency and one pick, otherwise a good game. Browns have averaged 19.5 points in two games. Tyrod is averaging just 220 yards in two games. Defense playing out their minds and the Browns are still 0-1-1. Just sayin'.
  18. Hue is now 1-32-1. I get the continuity argument but it's time. There's a very credible argument in which the Browns are 2-0 against two Super Bowl contenders. Zane didn't help the cause but Hue is in control of this mess. A winning culture needs to come from someone who can coach wins. If they choke to the Jets on Thursday, at home against a non-playoff contender, it should happen immediately after the game.

I was off from work. My wife worked in Foggy Bottom about 3 blocks from the White House at a daycare center. She left for work at 7AM and didn't come home until 11PM because traffic was gridlocked and parents couldn't reach their kids. I kept thinking that if a jet had crashed into the White House instead of the Pentagon my wife likely would have been injured or died. She held it together for the little kids but when she came home she hugged our seven-year old and cried for an hour. Nobody knew how many jets there were and everyone downtown thought they were going to die. I remembered cell lines being down almost immediately and we just moved and didn't have a landline installed yet. I had to go to a payphone (how times have changed!) to get ahold of her to make sure she was ok then call everyone in Cleveland. Watched fighter jets do circles over our area almost all night. I worked at Dulles Airport at the time and still had to work my schedule. The airport was silent. Silence at an airport is surreal. United Express repositioned an aircraft and it sounded like a fighter jet with all that open space carrying sound.
  20. Ties were all the rage when the league started back in the 20s and 30s. Of course, Canton, Dayton and Pottsville, PA had teams in those days too. Ties are going to increase in frequency with OT scaled back from 15 to 10 minutes. Last year, the Browns would have had three more chances to blow the win. ;D

I saw a fair amount of anti-semetic propaganda today from "people" commenting on simple #neverforget posts on Facebook and Twitter. I guess certain fake news is allowed to live on. Or is this propaganda now "free speech"?
  22. My streak ends! I attended the awful 10-10 tie against the Chiefs at Muni back in '89. That Browns team was much better but this game was more entertaining by far.

Yikes. Storms aren't entirely based on the particular temperature at the moment in a particular location. Storms are formed by weather patterns, jet streams, warm fronts, etc.... The science shows that storms in general are getting worse due to global warming. While there can't be direct percentage based attribution to this particular storm, storms are and will continue to get worse. I agree a higher heat content creates bigger storms. You also need a strong temperature gradient to mix cold and warm air, hence fall. There's a definite debate about whether storms are getting "worse". There's evidence in the US that storms produce more rainfall, but there is no real set of global data and the US is a small area of the globe. Can you provide a link to some study that questions that storms aren't getting worse since you're saying this is a debatable argument? Warmer air holds more water and it's well documented temperatures are getting hotter. I've never read anywhere someone actually saying what you are implying. I've read quite a few study briefs and every single one of them indicates storms are getting worse and will continue to do so. Uhh..it’s basic scientfic knowledge that there isn’t a marker yet between thunderstorm/hurricane intensity and global temperature increases from data we currently have Here’s a link on storms: https://nca2014.globalchange.gov/report/our-changing-climate/changes-storms From the report: >>Other trends in severe storms, including tornadoes, hail, and thunderstorms, are still uncertain.<< Pretty clear. I stand by what I originally said. It’s not misleading at all.

You brought up 1971-2000 climate. Because the re-analyzer takes today's weather and measures it to climate. The implication was that yesteraday's WEATHER was being caused by Global Warming. I thought this was the WEATHER thread anyway. We already have a Global Warming one.
