Cincinnati: Mt. Auburn: Development and News
The port put out an RFP for the old Cable Building "2001 Highland is approximately one-third of an acre site located at the highly visible corner of Highland and Dorchester Avenues. Although the Landbank’s preference is to solicit proposals to increase the affordable housing density in the neighborhood, all project types are welcome. The Mt. Auburn neighborhood is located just north of Over-the-Rhine and South of the Uptown neighborhoods of Clifton, Avondale and Corryville." https://www.cincinnatiport.org/the-port-seeking-bids-to-redevelop-former-mt-auburn-cable-railway-site/

I can't access the article right now but if I remember correctly the Chiquita Building lease, signed in 2019, is for 5 years.. If they wanted to build a new HQ in time for a 2024 move in, I'd think they'd want to get underway now or very soon https://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2019/06/17/exclusive-fortune-500-firm-leases-top-7-floors-of.html

Imperial Theatre in Mohawk. Full presentation. Little more than renderings porn at this point (see page 16 for the financials,) but still cool

Forgive me if this was already noted, but it looks like the two buildings adjacent to The Residence Inn (the "Woodford Building," apparently) are being demolished. Got this (below) in from the city just tonight. I seem to recall some grousing about these buildings being demoed but wasn't able to find anything (albeit having performed all of one google search...) Parts of downtown about to look like the teeth of a hockey player

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
The real-time tracking of the Transit app gives free fares a run for its money (..) in terms of biggest improvement to the system over the last 12-18 months. I wouldn't be a daily rider with out it.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Heard it was a landlord issue, was asking for an exorbitant rent increase. Walnut Street will be fine. I live right there. Could use a speed bump (or ten.) But for being one of the hotspots of illicit activity in the neighborhood, it's not that bad.

They just resurfaced it and put up a new, er, attendant shed, so I wouldn't get my hopes up about anything happening soon.

if this is your interpretation of the filings so far I really don't know what to tell you.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Development and News
What struck me walking by is how much the false front interrupted the rhythm of buildings coming down Race and, by contrast, how a restoration of the original facade could completely change the feel of that part of downtown. Also, it’s pretty neat to see this happening and then 100 yards away the modern addition being added Tetris style to the boutique hotel project on Seventh. Is there any chance whatsoever a similar thing could be done to Shillito’s at some point? Does the original facade still exist underneath the new one or is that not possible?

This isn’t entirely true. The productivity drop off was significant immediately and has grown over the last year across most office environments despite what the Recode cognoscenti say. The toll on mental health is similarly underreported, though for different reasons. That’s not to say the pandemic hasn’t/won’t change the way work is done, but it’s more likely to be a catalyst of smaller changes than a paradigm-shifting event.

Cincinnati City Council Corruption
The indictment itself is thin. It imputes wrongdoing rather than demonstrating it. The very phrasing of the interactions points to circumstantial evidence, which is made worse in the context of a project PG said he supported prior to receiving any of the alleged contributions. The lone point at which wrongdoing is more than suggested is when the agents allegedly fed him an idea about rezoning the property (can't recall the details) and he acted on it. That's dicey because he can't argue he was already going to act on something about which he had no foreknowledge. But I'd say that's pretty thin as well in the larger context. Otherwise it does paint the picture of a egotistical PG, albeit one who seemed to go out of his way to ensure the contributions were above board, ironically enough.

Here’s a photo of the hub I took while heading on vacation last month. But you never really see it when you’re driving up. The new car rental space, the road infrastructure changes and the other developments around the entrance are far more impactful.

Cincinnati Mayoral Race 2021
Countervailing against the ageism (which is pretty crass TBH) I see Mann out at events and around in OTR more than I see PG anywhere. And Mann has his name on more so-called "urbanist" proposals than anyone else at city hall, including raising density limits in the West End for certain projects and making it easier for water mains to be replaced under the streetcar tracks. He's also the only one who mentions making the streetcar fare-free, he was behind marijuana decriminalization and he's working on pedestrian safety downtown.

If y’all have the inclination you should go back and watch the press conference for the moment Williams asks his questions. Cranley has just had to announce he is furloughing people he knows and cares about and Williams, like a vulcher, comes in with his queries about the streetcar. If Williams were man enough to actually be present and ask those questions in person (we all know he isn’t), I’m thinking Cranley might have strangled him. He is a literal piece of sh*t.

Is that what’s happening? My understanding is Vandercaar was basically a third-party matchmaker who gets a cut (still sh*tty) then backs out of the development process once the port takes ownership.

Wrecking permit application for the riverside switch house owned by Duke Energy in Queensgate. Google aerial. Shame, it's a gorgeous building, at least from the outside. You could imagine a factory district with multifamily apartments running between it and Longworth Hall. Guessing it's more Brent Spence prep? Dunno.
