The auto show was indeed going downtown when the IX center was going to be closed in 2020. Cleveland is a big enough market overall that these kind of shows will still go on. Don't love the use but I love the idea of more traffic and people being pushed downtown. If Cleveland does indeed get a WNBA team perhaps the two combined will offset the loss of the Browns in terms of downtown impact.

The more I think about it, the more I would much rather have the Browns leave the area all together than giving them a penny to move to Brook Park. I am sick of billionaires getting their way at the taxpayer expense. Businesses and people will shift their season tickets to the Cavs and Guardians. I know the 90s were just the perfect scenario where everything went right with the sell outs back when Jacobs field could seat 45k but I have to imagine the Guardians attendance and viewership would go up massively in the region overtime if the Browns left. That in turn could cause the owners to spend more and all that good stuff. The Browns have been nothing but misery aside from a couple of seasons my whole life (born in 90) and them going would be a bummer initially but at least I would be free of the annual torture.

Yes and no. Look at the RRHOF right next to it and even without the expansion it still is in good shape. Same thing with lots of other museums and places in the area.

Yeah there is definitely things like that but there are certain things happening here that seem pretty unique to Cleveland though I could be wrong 1) State actively trying to make it happen while the county does not want it 2) A regional partnership come out in favor of it causing the city and county to leave the partnership 3) A different local professional sports team come out against the move

Overall, if the county does not have to pay anything, they will be freed to have extra money to invest in places like the downtown lakefront.

The guardians are actually a top tier front office. They just don’t have the financial pockets of the big markets. Don’t know how being a state senator makes you a failed politician. He didn’t bow the knee to trump which is why he lost the primary in this MAGA state.

Also a Marriott Tribute in the Rose building. And Marriott already had a high portion of the downtown hotels (Marriott, Westin, Residence, the 9, Ritz Carlton, Hotel Cleveland, Aloft). I know Marriott is king but this seems like an even higher than normal saturation especially when you add these 3 new hotels downtown.
