Cleveland: Downtown: Skyline 776 (City Club Apartments)
Out of curiosity the permit fee is 28k, what exactly caused it to be so pricey? I’m sure this is common for new builds of this magnitude.

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
Not totally because it would also mean that we’ve lost 55k from the labor force and 58k in overall non farm jobs which I find hard to believe (comparing to October 2019). No way our labor force decreased by that much.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Add Cedi Osman to the injury list. A lack of depth due to injuries make it so a quarter like that may happen. Simply don't have many scorers on the court. We need to get healthy. Once healthy I feel like we are a playoff team and one elite player away from being a championship caliber team.

Ohio Congressional Redistricting / Gerrymandering
Agreed. I think a fair map would be more like 5 strong republicans, 3 strong Democrat, and the rest toss up with a little more leaning republican than democrat but with the potential of that changing depending on the whims of the peope.

Ohio Congressional Redistricting / Gerrymandering
The map could be better but a disadvantage of democrats in general is that cities is where most democrats live so you could have 1.2 million in a county that is 70% Democrat and then have another 3.6 million spread out among counties that is only 55% republican on average but still enough to make it so you have a 3 red to one blue ratio.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Extremely disappointed that they changed the cladding on the garage. It was going to be a sharp glass cladding and now it is a generic tensile/metal/concrete. Edit. I see that they will have glass cladding on one side of it so my mistake.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Man are these Cavs fun to watch! It is to essentially already know that we got a generational talent in Mobley! 9-5 with injuries and having to play a tough schedule right off the bat.

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
It was a banner year for all mortgage/loan companies due to low interest rates and refinancing. Cross country mortgage was up 251%, quicken loans/rocket mortgage had record profits. The telling thing will be to see how these companies due this year and the few following years.

But isn’t the whole innovation district contingent on them adding and keeping jobs in UC (the district)?

Cleveland Browns Discussion
I am just so glad the OBJ drama is once and for all gone and we can now focus on going forward as a team. We are objectively a better team without him.

Cleveland: Downtown: Cleveland Athletic Club Redevelopment
Just for fun I saw this and looked at their site and it shows 14/163 being available for lease. So they are at 91.4% according to my unofficial look. So there is the answer to you question 14 months later haha.

Cleveland Mayoral Race 2021
I know this is easier said than done but I just wish there were instant raises for police associated with this passing so the police could feel supported while also adding oversight. I know good police who don't feel supported and whether or not some of this is self inflicted, the perception is still there. Hence, city leadership including Justin Bibb, needs to think through ways to help good police feel supported while also trying to make improvements that weed out the bad police. Edit - Sorry I just realized this conversation happened on the mayoral race thread. Please move it to the appropriate thread needed.

Yeah this list came out in June. No idea why cleveland.com chose to do an article on it now.

Cleveland: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame News & Discussion
This rock n roll HoF ceremony was one of the most star studded I can remember. On your of there people actually going into the HoF there were performers including Taylor Swift, Eminem, jLo, Paul McCartney, Jennifer Hudson, and Christina Aguilera, and introducers such as Drew Barrymore, Dr.Dre, Lionel Richie, and Dave Chapel. Didn’t get to watch but plan to.

Cleveland: Cleveland State University News & Info
I really think in the next two decades, CSU is going to be the clear cut public college of choice in NEO. We are beginning to see the change already based on enrollment and overall momentum of the campuses in terms of dreams and vision. KSU and Akron seem to be in more of a survival kind of mode where as CSU seems to be gearing up for a great future. @KJPany news on the whole potential of a med school?

Akron-Canton: General Business & Economic News
You wouldn’t think that when a company moved their headquarters from CA to NEO that they would choose Richfield. But I do think Akron U and akrons rich history in tires/polymer is a big reason they chose this area (25ish minutes away).

Cleveland: Random Development and News
Why would the first groups of requirements be okay but not the cleveland resident one?
-
Cleveland: Population Trends
But at the same time it's not like we include a city from Medina County. Honestly, I don't think there is a city large enough to warrant it being called anything but Cleveland MSA unless Akron became a part of it in which it would be Cleveland Akron MSA (but let's not go down that rabbit trail).

This is so sad. Sweet Moses was a place I took people not from the area to and everyone always loved it.

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
Yeah but I think some art fits more the categorization of the leg lamp. While some people like it and may even be proud of it, the vast majority of people do not so it does not deserve such a prominent spot.

Greater Cleveland Taxation
Yeah there is a decent increase due to the charter taxes. Here is a helpful article by Cleveland.com that speaks to the increase per 100k per city. Some are worse than others. Lakewood for example had the average property go up 27% and the average tax is going to go up 19.8%. Where as place like Independence has properties go up 9% with the tax bill only going up 2.8%. I do think think this increase in taxes especially in places like Lakewood could be hard on the citizens who are either lower to middle class or on fixed incomes. https://www.cleveland.com/cuyahoga-county/2021/09/with-new-cuyahoga-county-appraisals-most-property-tax-bills-will-rise-see-partial-estimates-for-your-city.html
