Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
Is that awful piece of a art technically in city land and could survive this new construction?

Cleveland Mayoral Race 2021
At least we know he is a gentleman or there is no way he would get that endorsement haha.

Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
Well that is a disappointing bomb.

An overseas deal like this translates to how many local jobs? A couple dozen? https://www.crainscleveland.com/manufacturing/parker-hannifin-wins-support-meggitt-shareholders-87-billion-takeover

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
@KJPthanks for the article. Are the developers also vying for the TMUD? If so is the development based on that?

Cleveland: Downtown & Vicinity Residences Discussion
I could see them also counting residents who have a place downtown but whose permanent address is somewhere else. Regardless we know with all the new apartments that are being filled downtown's population is growing albeit not as rapidly as before.

Cleveland: Hotel Development
It will be a part of the Autograph collection which in my mind is a step up.

Cleveland Mayoral Race 2021
For people who have been around long enough can you compare and contrast a young Dennis and a young Bibb? How do we know it is not a repeat as some are trying to argue.
-
Cleveland Mayoral Race 2021
I think Bibb should win it. He is more likely to gain votes from everyone’s voters except kucinich. Bibb should win the white millennial and POC vote. The wild cards are Frank Jackson’s pull and who the other candidates endorse if anyone.

Cleveland Mayoral Race 2021
Yeah I’m overall good with these two choices. Kelly is probably the lower risk and lower reward option.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
No public access for the pavilion including the barista. Disappointing for sure.

USA Soccer: Men's National Team
Not having Pulisic definitely hurt. Overall, not bad for a first road game considering their youth. Gotta get three points at home vs. Canada.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Here’s why I’m overall happy: At one point we thought the tower was only going to be 450ish ft. The tower is over 600ft. At one point we thought the tower was going to be a box. It is way better than a box. At one point we were certain the ground floor was going to be off limits. Looking like that’s not the case. At one point we were pretty sure the garage was going to be ugly and maybe even uncovered along Frankfort. It overall is an aesthetically pleasing design for a garage. I get the criticism and things can always get better but I’d prefer to focus in on all the amazing things about the project including the jobs remaining and the death of parking lots.

Cleveland: Hotel Development
Does this mean the May (I thought it had a different name) has been struggling to attract renters? If so what does that mean for the rental market as a whole?

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
Perhaps but at the same time we had the slowest growth rate of any metro over a million people (even Pittsburgh ended up doing better) so I don’t think that the census helped all too much. Hope I’m wrong.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Bridgeworks Development
Probably some are who don’t need them but after all if there was a way for you to save potentially tens of millions of dollars wouldn’t you at least try to see if it was possible?

Cleveland: Population Trends
As far as the housing units staying the same with the population decreasing, it's a couple of things as has been talked about. Doubles becoming single family (although that is happening less often now) and then Gen Z/Millennials with no kids replacing houses that in the past had 4+ people in it.
-
Cleveland: Population Trends
This is huge! That is a 36k difference. Also, there is something psychological about saying that our metro is growing rather than shrinking (no matter how slight). The eye test will show you that the city of Cleveland is undergoing a transformation. The amount of development is outstanding. It will just take time for it to spill over into the majority of the neighborhoods and we are already seeing the start (see Glenville). The tax base is up and there are lots of people who want to live in Cleveland who never did before. We just have to be patient. Overall, I am encouraged by the data!

Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
Can someone do the same data comparison but with the major Ohio counties and metro areas? I don’t have time at the moment to dig through the data myself.

Cleveland: Downtown: Progressive Field
To be clear I don’t think it has an economic impact on our region but I do think it greatly helps the downtown to feel vibrant and full of life. A night with a sports game and a night without one is obviously totally different not just with street traffic but with foot, restaurant traffic, and transit as well. One of my favorite memories from when I was young was going with my grandpa, dad, and brothers on the rapid from shaker heights to tower city to watch the Indians game.
-
Cleveland: Downtown: Progressive Field
With the amount of the old generation and people refusing to watch the Guardians/Indians now that the name has been changed and the lack of attendance before that, I am thankful that we are able to keep the team. The public investment is a little high but worth it considering all that it does for the city and downtown.

Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
Encouraging quote from Dee Haslam. Love that they want to keep the stadium on the lake. This is her talking about the future plans for the lakefront bridge. https://www.cleveland.com/browns/2021/07/paul-depodesta-andrew-berry-and-kevin-stefanskis-contracts-are-aligned-and-more-of-what-we-learned-from-browns-owners-dee-and-jimmy-haslam.html “We’re on the waterfront, we plan to be there, we love where our stadium is and we think once it gets connected it’s going to be a great experience for not just our fans but anyone that lives and works in Cleveland,” she said. “It creates this neighborhood that is so important to the vitality of downtown. So that’s why we’re excited about it.”

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
The sad thing is they have done this cleveland Pittsburgh comparison many times before so it is nothing new.

Brecksville: Valor Acres Development
https://www.cleveland.com/realestate-news/2021/07/sherwin-williams-details-plans-for-119-acre-brecksville-campus-with-600000-square-foot-building-on-former-va-site.html First look at SHW R&D. Looks nice but at the same time it’s a typical boring suburban office complex. Still wish that it was on Scranton Penisula but o well.

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
I wonder if people’s severe fear of spiders played a role in them rejecting the name. I can think of a few people in my life who are absolutely terrified of spiders.
