  1. I think this was the best case for the name and definitely agree I don’t love the font and logo.
  2. I was just thinking about it. There is no way that this going to get built for around the price tag they said of about $300 million. For those of you in the industry how much does a building of this size cost including the garage and the pavilion (I know it depends on a a lot of unknowns right now I was just thinking estimates)?
  3. From the cleveland.com article. Vocon Principal Matthew Heisey said the design team explored using tunnels to connect the buildings. That option was not feasible because of underground utilities, he said. I’m glad that they at least pursued the tunnel option. My biggest complaint was they could connect the two building underground.
  4. My comment was overstated. Run/worn down are not the right words. But I do think there needs to be more life breathed into it by way of renovation. It could potentially be the lighting, lack of people, and a few other factors affecting my perception. I’m also thinking especially of the food court area and a few stores I was in (that may have since closed down).
  5. I wonder if they plan on renovating tower city at all. It has a worn down feeling that makes it not an attractive place to be.
  6. @KJP in your estimation how many of the projects are dependent on TMUD. Centennial, Magellan, Bridgeworks, Nucleus, others?
  7. Disappointing for sure but makes sense on Amazon’s part. Unfortunately the great union jobs that were lost are being replaced by $15-$18/hr jobs that one cannot live off of. Glass half full - atleast it is something and hopefully better jobs are to come!
  8. @KJP Can you help me understand why they’d sell the TMUD for 36million instead of using all 40 million to the project? Also, is selling tax credits commonplace in development?
  9. I think it works. I mean it really is what the neighborhoods are. After all this is just a CDC. The neighborhoods are going to still maintain their identities. Now if it was a merging of neighborhoods, I would argue for a less generic name. Truth be told, 99% of people will have no clue that this northwest CDC even exists.

I retract my comment. It was too off topic and going down the religions route. Mods feel free to delete.
  11. Honestly my biggest problem with this whole project is the pedestrian bridge over west 3rd. I know in one article Kelley (I believe) said that bridge should get some pushback. Turn that into a tunnel and SHW will get my stamp of approval which probably will make or break this project ;)
  12. I feel like that has to be an error. Like every house has the bedrooms on the floor above the kitchen. Who would want their guests to going through their bedroom level to get to the kitchen. Doesn't make sense.
  13. Furthermore, having an attractive lakefront would only help people desire to work and live downtown which in turn will cause further development.
  14. Another thing to factor into this conversation is how much covid impacted the rankings for some companies. Like Travelers Center in Westlake (Cleveland) dropped out of the Fortune 500 to 540 due to a decrease in revenue of 20.8%. You’d have to imagine they will be back in the 500 next year. There are I’m sure dozens if not over a hundred companies whose rankings were drastically impacted by COVID and every company had their ranking somewhat impacted for better or worse due to the pandemic.
  15. They had over 4 billion revenue in the first quarter of 2021. When all the dust settles they will be at least in the top 300.
  16. Frontier still does. I actually have a nonstop flight with frontier to Miami in about a week.
  17. Up in the thread there is a discussion about this article along with an article by @KJP that you can read for free!

Glad I sold my DOGE when it did (.$65). They Reddit hype train I believe will eventually die out and the reality that it is a fundamentally flawed coin will prevent it from being high. Could it rise more on the hype? Yeah but not long term IMO. Three coins that I have been bullish on have been doing well recently (Cardano, Polygon, and Ethereum). For you other crypto investors, what coins right now are you excited about?
  19. Just a guess but he might be doing it to show that he is not being negligent with maintaining the property in case the city tries to come after him. I mean after all, the building will be perfect now that he added some paint ;)

Positive ripple effects already happening from hosting the Draft. I will say anytime we host something people are always impressed which is a testament to those involved. https://www.cleveland.com/business/2021/04/i-didnt-know-you-had-a-beach-and-other-observations-about-cleveland-from-meeting-planners-in-town-for-the-nfl-draft.html

I’ll be doing the draft experience tomorrow with some friends and staying downtown after to watch the draft at one of the viewing areas. We are all really excited for it!
  22. In most cases eds and meds don't mean much growth but that is not the case in Cleveland (with meds). The Clinic regularly attracts extremely wealthy people from outside the region to dump money in the region when they have procedures. It is not just people in Cleveland using the Clinic. Furthermore, we have spins offs and new companies from all the research happening in the meds realm. Finally, we have the 1000 person pathogen research center that is coming. The medical realm, while there is no bonuses, does quite well in terms of well paying jobs with many doctors and researchers at the Clinic making money comparable to the tech realm. Just look at the fact that from 1990 to now the amount of jobs in the eds and meds had almost gone up 100k people (pre-COVID) with a stagnant region (I know there is aging but that wouldn't account for 100k jobs). Now, this might lend to your point that they can sustain a region and not grow it but I'd argue that once everything else stabilizes, it will be a reason why we are growing. Without the rise in the Clincand the meds sector our region would be way worse off than it is now IMO I 100% agree that an economy can't solely be based on ed/meds but I think for our region it can account for more growth that people realize.
  23. They sell them fast so they collect their investment quickly and then some. I just hope they are good quality otherwise 20 years from now our city will be littered with poor quality homes. Does anyone know about their quality? University Heights is one of the places I’m considering moving too so seeing development is always a good thing (especially since there isn’t much land left in the city).
  24. Is a transversable concrete island just a roundabout or is it different?
  25. Sorry I meant for all the states. It’d be interesting to see all the comparisons side by side.
