  1. https://www.crainscleveland.com/technology/blue-abyss-nasa-glenn-sign-space-act-agreement Since 2025 has started out with crappy Cleveland economic news, here is a positive one from the article on blue abyss. The complex, outside the NASA Glenn gate, is projected to add nearly 1,800 full-time jobs
  2. Exactly. I worked at Heinen's in high school and college and they treat their employees well, are pro union, and the owners genuinely care. Last I knew downtown was still losing money but they keep it open as a way of giving back and wanting to contribute to downtown. I don't want to see a company that could run Heinen's out of business. Their headquarters are in Warrensville heights and so they add to the economy in a way an out of town headquarters would not.
  3. A little perspective in 2019 Cleveland cliffs revenue was under 2 billion making barely a fortune 1000. It was only because it acquired much bigger companies revenue wise that it has grown to where it is today. So I don’t see how this whole Cleveland is always on the losing end makes sense. Recently we’ve been on the winning end on a lot of acquisitions and sure we may lose this one but even if we do what remains in Cleveland (the mining division) may still be the size of what the company is we in 2019.
  4. I spent time looking at all major shopping places around Valor Acres and actually the closest major shopping center would be Summit Mall in Fairlawn at around 15 minutes. While that mall does have some nice stores like the Apple Store and Lululemon, it definitely has struggles including a recent 200 teen brawl that occurred there. I wonder if it will hurt the mall at all.
  5. Thanks! Another question. Do you think the ACS realized their error in calculating and has managed to figure out what they did wrong? So, even though their 2020 numbers are off (and not updated), their 2023 numbers are accurate. Therefore, the population really is 1,249,418 and not your extrapolated number.
  6. So if I’m understanding this right Cuyahoga county has lost 15k so far in population this decade but because of the 23k undercount it’s up 8k from what were the initial census numbers?
  7. It's crazy how there are several hotels in the works for downtown Cleveland. Don't see how the market can support them all.
  8. Would that be the new home for Berea-midpark football? Going to midpark we always used BW for the football games.
  9. Billable hours are always undefeated.
  10. Kluber in 17 and 18 but not 16. He had a sub 2 era on 6 starts and was a main reason why we made the World Series. Playoffs are just a different animal.
  11. Well Cleveland hates you back jimmy! He embodies everything that Cleveland is not and needs to go back to Tennessee and sell the team. Okay rant over. Time to watch the guardians.
  12. Dolans>Halsams
  13. But some of the new tax revenue is going to be needed for additional cops during games and events, upkeep infrastructure, city cleaners for all the garbage everywhere on the streets after the games, and such. There is definitely an expense hosting major events by city. I know it’s probably not an insane amount but it isn’t nothing either.
  14. So even though the tax payers own the stadium, the Browns can still sell naming rights to that stadium. Gotta love how billionaires work. And yes I know this is how it is for all stadiums.
  15. Cleveland.com is a mouthpiece for the browns. We saw this on how they have treated @KJP's reporting in the past.
  16. With the browns leaving, does it make it more likely that Cleveland will want to have a soccer stadium downtown and be willing to subsidize a bit? I feel like has to impact it a little.
  17. I overall agree with this take. We have the riverfront and the lakefront. Tons of space to develop. Having a stadium would have been a huge help. Too bad it didn’t seem like the renovation would have worked long term.
  18. Hope this hurts all the parking lots downtown and causes them to look for alternative uses for their lots. Wishful thinking I know.
  19. Ah luxury condos in brook park next to a noisy airport and a sea of parking. What a dream.
  20. I was at the Rock Hall on Saturday and thought the same exact thing.
  21. Photos like these show why Cleveland got the nickname Forest City.
  22. Man they were so short-sighted to not build that garage higher.
  23. Just have someone "get hurt" because of it and call Saul Goodman aka Tim Misny.
  24. Blame the state who awarded two projects downtown the tax credits instead of bridgeworks. If they would have gotten it, more than likely this thing would have been built with the better design.
