Brook Park / Walton Hills: Ford Plant Redevelopments
Small tidbit from Brook Park’s mayor. Seems like there is positive movement and the only issue left is financing. https://www.cleveland.com/community/2019/12/brook-park-mayor-says-ford-engine-plant-pretty-solid-for-next-several-years.html As for the vacant 195 acres in Brook Park that Ford has had on the market for a long time, Gammella said he spoke to Ford Land about a deal that is in the works. "The environmental hurdles, and all the hurdles, are over," he said about the property. "The only thing now that they're waiting for is the financing for this thing to go through." He did not disclose the potential buyer's name or any other details.

Cleveland: Random Quick Questions
Hulu live has been fantastic. Unfortunately it is now going up to 54.99 a month (58 with taxes). But you get all the espns, big ten network, fox sports (including Ohio), and so forth. It’s like 75 channels total. You also get access to Hulu w/commercials which is great for certain tv shows.

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo
Has anyone been to the Wild Winter Lights yet? Thinking about going and was wondering if it was worth it? https://www.wkyc.com/article/life/holidays/cleveland-metroparks-zoo-wild-winter-lights-christmas-event/95-cfd9b891-4912-45ad-96af-714b64f356c8

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
It seems like the whole dream of Cleveland being a blockchain hub has died. Even the conference for next year will only be two days (versus 4 days) and focus on more than just blockchain including artificial intelligence and other disruptive technologies. https://www.crainscleveland.com/technology/blockland-solutions-2020-will-be-shorter-and-focus-more-broadly-emerging-technologies

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
Someone help me understand this. Does this mark a second change of direction? Like it went from blockchain to tech (including startups) and now is going mostly to startups with subsidized rents meaning the big tech companies will likely have no presence here?

Youngstown-Warren: Random Development and News
Beautiful, historic theatre in Warren was saved and is about to have its first show since it closed 45 years ago. https://www.wkbn.com/news/local-news/historic-robins-theater-in-warren-opening-for-first-show-after-renovations/?utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook_WKBN_27_Youngstown_OH&fbclid=IwAR0VZTgEs8cswKtB3OeYMUSAiof7qvnpx7sBg4p2whCy1X8X0hns3hp8R2M

The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
I wasn’t talking about the actual article. I did watch the interview. I thought it was nice that they pointed out that Cleveland is an underrated city and gets a bad rap for no reason. I’m not saying a whole article should have been written on it but I still think the few positive comments that were said warranted it being on this thread. Don’t think that was being needy but to each his own I guess.

Youngstown-Warren: Random Development and News
From the Vindy today. Unfortunately it looks like nothing has changed in terms of the low paying jobs. https://www.vindy.com/news/local-news/2019/12/gm-to-make-announcement-this-morning/ The proposal is not part of the contract GM and UAW negotiated earlier this year. Speculation at the time from sources familiar with the situation was that negotiators shied away from including it to avoid setting a precedent for lesser-paying jobs, which are expected to be in the neighborhood of $17 per hour. The top wage earners at the assembly plant earned about $30 per hour.

Youngstown-Warren: Random Development and News
It wasn’t a part of the official deal from my understanding, it was more of a promise to make the batteries to help the Lordstown area out. https://www.crainscleveland.com/manufacturing/gms-offer-lifeline-lordstown-had-catch-lower-pay Here is a Crains article where they talk about the pay topping out at only $17/hr. I currently live in the area and that has what the understanding has been but things could have changed and I am just unaware.

Youngstown-Warren: Random Development and News
I think that is partially it. I have heard and read that these probably won't even be union jobs and the wages will be 2/3 of what it would be with GM. It'd enable them to distance themselves from what people expect if they held onto the plant in terms of wages/union jobs. Also, don't have much knowledge on this but I think the electric battery plant would be and look completely different than what the Cruze plant is/was.

It really is pathetic that a Fortune 500 company has been bought by a Cleveland company and there still is nothing from either Cleveland.com or Crains.

Honestly I just want some descent presence in the skyline. If it is below 400ft I will be disappointed. If it is 5-600ft I’ll be thrilled!

Cleveland: Outlet Mall Proposal for Lakefront
Looking at all the potential retailers I feel like this would destroy the ability for the heart of downtown to gain the retailers we’ve been so hoping would soon attract with the increasing population growth. Also, the parking and access to interstates makes it so people will come to the outlets, shop, then leave.

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
Just looked at the bls numbers. 3.2% unemployment is pretty incredible. The labor force did drop by 700 people. But employment was up 13k YoY which is only a little bit higher to what it’s been doing recently (around 10-11k YOY). So to say the shrinking labor force is the main reason is misleading. Hopefully the labor force will start growing but at least employment is thriving.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
To me the article makes it pretty clear. Sherwin Williams wants to stay here. Other places are offering better incentives. As long as the state and city match we are good.

STICKY: What do you want to see???
Do you have the ability to add the emphasize button similar to an I-phone? To me there is a different between liking what someone says versus strongly agreeing and wanting to emphasize a point.

Does it have to do with a relocation of a major company from outside of NEO?

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
I could be wrong but I just feel like it’s an investor who is trying to make it seem like they are in the running when they clearly are not. The search is not very early from everything people has heard from well connected sources. In response to an analyst's question, Smith said the Sherwin-Williams search is "very early" and the company has multiple Atlanta sites it could entertain. He also cited press reports that other suitor cities might be Charlotte and Dallas. Also, the guy didn’t seem to have a clue what the size of the project would be and just said a million square feet based on what would be best for the site and not what he has been contacted for. Mods please remove if the two sentences is too much to copy and paste from a paywall.

Okay so my understanding is right then I believe. The first paragraph is talking about additional jobs actually related to the vehicle manufacturing and the second paragraph is related to those people spending their money?

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
This article talks about the multiplying affect the 1500 jobs in Avon Lake will have on the economy. https://www.cleveland.com/business/2019/11/fords-1-billion-investment-in-avon-lake-and-brook-park-plants-could-boost-greater-cleveland-economy.html Could someone tell me what is trying to be said in these two paragraphs? Is the first paragraph talking about additional jobs that would be created directly related to auto manufacturing and the second group of jobs is related to retail, government jobs, and so forth by people spending their paycheck and paying their taxes? For every 100 jobs created in light-truck and utility vehicle manufacturing, 925 additional jobs could be created, Duritsky said. The economic activity generated from the investment and creation of these jobs could bring in an additional $7.8 million annually in state and local taxes. For every 100 jobs created in auto manufacturing, an additional 73 jobs could be created, generating an additional $506,000 in state and local taxes, he said.

I wonder why they took down the garage. It must have been too worn down or something because I don't see the financial benefit of tearing down a parking garage.

Cleveland: Downtown: 75 Public Square Renovation
You have to believe that this project just more valuable due to how extremely close it will be to the new Sherwin Williams headquarters. Couldn't have a closer location if you are a SHW employee.
