Any idea locations? All downtown? Any not in the city of Cleveland?

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
I found this part in one of the cleveland.com articles to be informative (https://www.cleveland.com/metro/2019/09/history-of-sherwin-williams-and-cleveland-has-been-intertwined-for-153-years.html) Company leaders have been community leaders, too. Ninety-seven employees are now on 111 area nonprofit boards. Cleveland is home for Sherwin Williams and many of its leaders. Based on this and all the other things that have already been discussed and discovered, I just cannot fathom them leaving the region.

Cleveland: Mayor Frank Jackson
It is absolutely mind boggling that the Cleveland city prosecutor did not make an arrest or filed to press charges. There should be an investigation into the handling of it because if it was the prosecution turning a blind eye that heads need to roll. I don't think anyone wants to live in a city where friends and family of politicians are able to get away with assault because they have the prosecution in their back pocket.

Gotcha!

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
In terms of overall revenues for the companies Sherwin Williams is now larger (thanks in part to Valspar). On the fortune 500 SW is 190 with 17.53 billion while PPG is 205 with 15.37 billion.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
The article makes it sound more of a restructuring and reevaluation of staffing needs because at the same time they laid off 31, there were plans to hire 20 immediately and continue to hire in the near future.

Cleveland: Ohio City: INTRO (Market Square / Harbor Bay Development)
After reflecting on it more I have a few thoughts 1) I think 30 years and a full TIF are too much 2) If this occurs it may send an unhealthy precedent for future development 3) I hate the overreach of government whether at the federal or state level. Thus, regardless of whether or not I’m for the TIF, I am against the state granting this because it’d be a clear overreach of power.

Very interesting read. I can understand the city’s hesitation after reading the article. https://www.cleveland.com/cityhall/2019/08/ohio-might-strip-cleveland-of-ability-to-collect-property-taxes-on-175-million-ohio-city-project-city-says.html

Cleveland: Case Western Reserve University News & Info
Is Case Western's goal to become more and more selective or, with the increase of applications that have been evident over the past 5 years, are they looking to expand and thus increase enrollment?

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport
Good news, as the article states, the bond rating boost could save the airport tens of millions of dollars as it looks to pay off debt and undertake massive capital projects. https://www.cleveland.com/cityhall/2019/08/cleveland-hopkins-international-airport-gets-bond-rating-boost-could-save-millions-in-borrowing-costs.html

Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
While I agree with most of this, I do believe we are better built for a recession that in years past. Our economy isn’t as dependent on manufacturing and is overall more diversified.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Looking at Sherwin Williams Q2 report I was struck by two things. First, is how fast they are paying off their debt. But second is they have listed a 1.362 billion long term operating lease liability that they didn’t have a year ago. @KJP is that in reference to their potential new building or something else?

Can you send me a link because it’s no longer where it used to be on their site? I haven’t found any for 2019 (q1 or q2).

Does anyone know why the downtown Cleveland alliance stopped putting out quarterly reports? I always found them to being extremely informative especially in terms of apartment and retail vacancies.

Cleveland: Downtown: Standard Building
Pretty sure apartment.com has some double listings if I'm not mistaken. Standard's actual website show 11 units available which is about 96% full which puts them above the desirable 95% line. It goes to show that even apartments that may not have prime location (relatively speaking and at the moment) and are more pricey can fill up overtime.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
If Google is really behind it why does Moreno seem to indicate otherwise? It’s a $110 million commitment and not all the money is raised yet, so Blockland volunteers will need to secure sponsors, equity partners, tenants and — hopefully — a large tech company to anchor the space, founder Bernie Moreno said in a phone interview. Though the deal is set, the specifics are not. The renovation will be done in phases, but those are not yet defined. There have been conversations with many potential tenants, Moreno says, but none are locked up yet. His own blockchain company, Ownum, will be one of the first to move in. Edit: RMB beat me too it.

Small yet good news: Borden is coming back to Ohio and will have a plant in Cleveland. https://www.cleveland.com/business/2019/06/bordens-dairy-products-return-to-ohio-with-a-plant-housed-in-cleveland.html

Cleveland: Downtown & Vicinity Residences Discussion
Since there has been talk in the past about the Standard not performing well, it is worth pointing out that it is now over 90% leased (254/281). Even though Downtown Cleveland Alliance still hasn't put out there first quarter report for some reason, I have to believe that occupancy rates downtown are overall going up and that the market is ready for the next wave of apartments that are to come online.

I know we shouldn’t put too much stock in it after last year, but its still worth noting that the bls numbers for April showed the lowest unemployment rate for any month in Cleveland since 2001! https://www.bls.gov/eag/eag.oh_cleveland_msa.htm

https://www.us.jll.com/content/dam/jll-com/documents/pdf/research/us-cleveland-office-insight-q1-2019-jll.pdf JLL reports it at 13%. They stated in the report that a good chunk of Class A became available because "Fifth Third renewed and downsized from 104,000 to 37,000 square feet." Were there a bunch of cuts there that I missed?

Cleveland: Population Trends
Census data for the counties is out... not too encouraging for Cuyahoga with a loss of 4,500 residents ? The 7 county region is overall flat at around a 1000 lost. Keep thinking that we are turning a corner but it does not appear to be stabilizing like a Hamilton county. https://expo.cleveland.com/news/g66l-2019/04/6d0312c650133/cuyahoga-countys-population-drop-9th-worst-in-the-us-last-year-new-census-estimates-say.html
