  1. Here’s the key quote. "Cleveland would benefit tremendously from the development of the waterfront," Jimmy Haslam said on Monday, March 27. "Having the stadium down there seems to be in everybody's best interest. So we're committed to redoing the stadium. In all likelihood, it's not going to have a dome, but it'll be a substantial remodel of the existing facility and we're probably three, four, five years away from that happening."
  2. Honestly the dark cladding feels more like Rock to me than the original design. I kind of like it. Also, for those who feel like it is ruining the traditional design, isn't that what Rock is all about? Destroying tradition and being even a little bit offensive?
  3. All previous discussion was in the thread I posted in. Maybe there needs to be a new thread title rock and roll hall of fame expansion?
  4. https://www.cleveland.com/news/2023/03/rock-hall-seeks-early-stage-city-approval-for-100m-expansion-plan-to-enable-groundbreaking-this-year.html I like the new design. Interesting that they changed the colors and that they are no longer connecting to the GLSC. They are geared to break ground late summer or early fall!
  5. Man this project really started out of nowhere! Love that the apartment momentum downtown is still continuing!
  6. Yeah I meant more people who are more disadvantaged not the wealthy elites from other countries who have a great life but think they can have even better in the states.
  7. Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. I get the mindset of wanting the best but I also want Cleveland to be a place where immigrants can have a chance at a better life.
  8. https://www.news5cleveland.com/news/local-news/investigations/cleveland-mayor-justin-bibbs-office-stonewalls-requests-for-travel-records?_amp=true very disappointing that Bibb’s office isn’t being transparent!
  9. Ahh gotcha. Glad it's a done deal!
  10. We discussed this in late November. I posted an article from Crains Cleveland on the matter. You can see it a few pages back!
  11. Care to say which is which?
  12. BP to stick it to cleveland once again. Bummer losing a Fortune 500. We will see how many employees transfer as well. https://www.crainscleveland.com/transportation/travelcenters-america-be-acquired-13-billion-bp
  13. I hope that someone will be able to develop a computer program that is bipartisan enough to be adopted nationwide and parties accept the results before knowing them. But with people's fear of technology, I doubt that would ever happen.
  14. If you want to read the entire 5 pages of thread you will get a good sense of why. The HoF has big ideas makes strides, then scales back. It has also been on the verge of completely collapsing on several occasion. Some of these negatives include: 1) Johnson and Johnson Johnson Controls wanting to pull out over its sponsorship https://www.cantonrep.com/story/news/2022/05/14/hall-fame-village-johnson-controls-dispute-over-agreements/9775611002/ 2) Hall of Fame village being in danger of being desilted from the NASDAQ https://sports.yahoo.com/hall-fame-village-mulls-reverse-040100402.html?guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAABdNe360Fwpg0b70rFHwtQe4zfg8fmZT3jvtE9bJG5wpliHfStl3gmmXoLgbe59i8qQSY4vzv39zYDHXHYNMS52OSkkbDWVdBJiRhioKETdYuSvpoGDJ8KA4c5buu3qlvpsyBB_Q8P3lVck6r3dbRQAYLhCU0QCDIvf-2aiF-gT6 3) Massive downgrade in the quality and look of the hotel from this stunning beauty https://www.johnsoncontrols.com/insights/2017/enterprise/features/johnson-controls-hall-of-fame-village-hotel-groundbreaking To this basic cheap looking hotel https://www.cantonrep.com/story/news/local/2020/07/04/whatrsquos-next-for-hall-of-fame-village/113375766/ There are more but that's three of the biggest.
  15. So overall is CPD and its officers happy with the choice?
  16. If I remember right wasn't this a whale with potentially thousands of jobs when you heard the rumors?
  17. https://www.crainscleveland.com/health-care/canon-announces-new-subsidiary-likely-be-based-cleveland-area-aims-strengthen-global Canon healthcare USA going to be headquartered in the Cleveland area. Only 20 employees but still a good start!
  18. Filling a parking lot, hiding a parking garage, gotta love it!
  19. Definitely not a wash as Chapman was old and washed up. He probably wasn’t making the roster anyway which is why he didn’t show up to work out.
  20. Are these just guaranteed minimums? Like is it possible the city/state won't have to hand out all this money if enough people book these flights? Still fuzzy on how the incentives work.
  21. Brisset played well enough for us to win and that is all you could ask of him. Missed some passes but also made some good ones as well. The defense giving up that wide open pass in a critical time and allowing a team to just run in an entire drive is what is infuriating to me. I still want woods fired but not sure if it will happen.
  22. And it is mixed income which is key. They’ve done so many studies that show that concentrated low income housing is a disaster but this is not that.
  23. After the Browns debacle I’m too hesitant to say the Guardians are in the playoffs even though 538 has them at 99.2% odds. We know what even 99.9% can bring. That said I do like our chances.
  24. If we win 1 out of 3 with the white Sox we will own the tie breaker meaning we are effectively 3 games up. If we win 2 or 3 games essentially we will have the playoffs in the bag barring a Browns-like collapse.
  25. If people view this as an incentive to incarcerate more people, then I agree with you. But if it helps more prisons become more modernized and more humane, like the Cuyahoga prison needs, then I am okay with it.
