Cincinnati: Kroger
OK, Here's my two cents. The Kroger building is seriously overcrowded and is bursting at the seams. They've converted conference rooms, server rooms and closets into more office space. There is no where else to put new employees. I would have liked to see them take over some floors at the Convergys center, but they need 200,000 contiguis space to fill their needs. Including 500sqf for lab space. These labs have their own challanges since they have to be behind physical firewalls with a Halon system etc. The reality is, there isn't a place in the city that fits this purpose. Yes they will be moving about 500 people out to Blue Ash, but will maintain the vacated floors in the Kroger building for new employees. I believe they will also move people from a few of their other buildings to the corporate offices.

Cincinnati Reds Discussion
The best time to get WLW is at night, the signal bounces off the ionosphere (sp) and back down. For some reason its stronger at night than during the day. I heard a rumor once that said WLW actually ups their signal at night, but I don't know if that is true. I do know that I've been able to get the signal in Des Moines, Iowa and in the Flordia panhandle as well as DC on my car sterio and on a little portable at night. It's more hit and miss during the day.

Weird Ohio and Ohio Oddities - A Book Review
I know this is kind of lame, and you have probably already considered it, but AAA tourbooks are decent for quick facts about different things. It has the more mainstream touristy stuff, but its a place to start...

Hollywood name drops Cincinnati
Rain Man of couse was in Cincinnati, I still can't drive over the Robeling Bridge w/o matching pitch with the tires as they humm over the grated deck like Raymond did in the movie. And it also had a reference to WOXY with their slogan, 97X BAM! "The future of Rock N Roll" Milk money was filmed in Cincinnati but took place somewhere else. It was funny though they had shot where the city was in the background and you could tell it was the Cincy skyline (of course if you knew what the skyline looks like).

Cincinnati: Fountain Square: Development and News
The rendering looks pretty cool. I don't think the amount of trees is accurate though. I like the look, a lot more modern, than what is there now. I'm not sure about the Cincinnati written on the side though. We already have that on the side of the convention center, do we need it in huge letters somewhere else as well? Moonloop, I agree with you. I am not a fan of the redesigned Enquirer site. I want to be able to go in and see the same stuff that is in the actual paper that went out this morning, and if I want to see updates, I can look in a specific section. Now its like all the stories change by the hour. Its like news for someone with ADD.

Metro Cincinnati: Road & Highway News
I will be so glad when they widen that portion and streighten out the S curve. It's a nightmare to navigate durring rush hour. And forget about trying to pass a semi on that part, you'll be lucky if you aren't thrown up onto the curb. Now if we could just get them to rebuild the end of the 6th street viaduct...

Winter! Post your pics here!
Well, this is mainly because we haven't had winter for almost a month. It's more like spring than anything else. I love 60 degree weather, but not in the middle of January!

Oh, you must work in MIS then. I love the corner conference room that looks off to the west. I've spent many meetings there just stairing out the windows.

Ohio trivia: What do you know?
I know that there are 88 counties in Ohio b/c the person who drew the county lines was a pianist and got the number from the number of keys on a piano.

The beautiful Cincinnati skyline at night!
I thought those lights changed with the forecast...like, white was snow, green was something, red was something, etc... Correct, the colors were relative to what the weather was like that day. Red-Warm, Blue-Cold, White-Snow, Green-Rain, I think there were a few others, but I don't remember. Several years ago there was a commercial for Channel 12 that had Tim Hedrick and some 1940's-type singers standing on top the Chiquita Center singing about what the different colors of the beacon meant. I've noticed, however, that the consistency of them lighting it up according to the weather has been sporadic for the past several years. They will go weeks or months with it just being white.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
Cincy-Rise is correct. I believe ODOT owns most of the land between Central Ave. and I-75. Since everything was(and is still) up in the air on the Brent Spence replacement, ODOT did not want to give up that land. They could have expanded to the east but, they would have had to raze the Mellinium Hotel, which is the largest in the city. I think they are now pretty much land locked, unless they decided to expand north or south, but that poses all whole new set of issues.

Cincinnati/NKY International Airport
Eigth and State is correct, most of the flights take off to the south over Kentucky, and land comming from the north. Durring a push at the airport though (the peak take off and landing times) it is hard to hear yourself think in the western part of Delhi and Sayler Park. I remember many times at Oak Hills where the teacher would have to stop a lecture and wait for an airplane to pass over before starting again, only to have to do it a few minutes later when another one came over.

Ohio: GM, Ford, and Chrysler News & Info
HAHA, actually Ford is a 4 letter word around my parents house, I have no idea why either, no one in my family was ever associated with the auto inidustry. The fact that Ford owns a little over 30% of Mazda actually made it worse.

Ohio: GM, Ford, and Chrysler News & Info
My family is very strong when it comes to supporting GM. I looked at their product line first and was not impressed with anything! The quality and the styling were sub par compared to other companies. I ran into the same thing with Ford. Finally I went to a Mazda dealership and looked at the 6. I was very impressed with the styling and the way it was put together, almost night and day compared to some of the Chevys I looked at. I've had my 6 for almost a year now and don't regreat my dicision at all. Eventhough I was almost disownded by my family when I brought home a forign car.

If you are referring to the one with the US and Ohio flags, I believe that is the Cincinnati Bar Association.

Cincinnati: Historic Photos
PigBoy, If you are referring to the "monument" in the 5th picture, I believe that is the base of the flag poll. It was still part of fountain square until demo started. As far as I know, they will put it back up after the redo.
