Cincinnati: Downtown: Terrace Plaza Hotel
Get TQL to open a new downtown office. They're expanding like crazy and have already outgrown their Clermont County HQ with plans to add more space there.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Terrace Plaza Hotel
It's less about the health of downtown and more about the intricacies and eccentricities of this particular property. If there was a vacant lot here it would've been developed years ago.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
I mean, middle class white folks can basically "loiter" and drink anywhere they want in the city. So I'm not sure that the exceptions are being made only for the people partying on Main Street. You pretty much don't have to worry about open container laws in Cincinnati (or any big city for that matter).

Ohio & National Intercity Bus Discussion
Gotcha. I thought you meant Acela since it is a WAS-NYC route. I don't see this thing gaining a lot of traction in the Northeast Corridor because Acela is more reliable, timewise. And I don't see too many city pairings outside of the Northeast where there would be sufficient demand for a service like this. But we'll see I guess.

Ohio & National Intercity Bus Discussion
Ehhh, I wouldn't say they put Amtrak to shame. Same price and the trip is an hour longer than the Acela with similar amenities. And that's assuming you don't end up in traffic hell on the Jersey Turnpike. One bad traffic experience and you'll be regretting not taking the train. Also, only holds 14 people? If these busses start taking customers away from the Acela that would be a climate disaster.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
GE Aerospace will occupy the building at The Banks. There will be no "GE" anymore. GE Aerospace will own the GE brandmark and lease it to the other two companies.

I think they already announced this?

Cincinnati: West End: Development and News
Yep, the urban parking overlays eliminate all off-street parking requirements within their boundaries. Mt. Washington and Camp Washington have created them. Northside and College Hill have shown interest. There might be other neighborhoods I'm not aware of.

Gas Prices
I'm not sure I buy their methodology. I surely don't know anyone in Cincinnati who has seen their commuting costs go up 59%. That's an insanely high number. Their methodology also looks like it assumes everybody commutes everyday in a a single-occupancy car. My commute cost on my bicycle hasn't gone up at all.

2022 U.S. Senate Race
Without any further intervention it's going to start going down because it's going to be compared to a year ago when inflation was already high. These year-over-year numbers are very unlikely to stay that high. But there will be continued intervention, so it'll come down even more. I expect by October it'll be under 6%. There is a chance the fed gets overzealous and pushes us into recession, but we might not even know we're in one yet by November.

It's possible. But one thing you can count on in politics is that people have really short memories.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
They're working on leasing up Wilkommen, Behlen, and Keyer Row, finishing up Court Street and the Foundry, and planning the convention district and Findlay Rec Center. Seems like a lot going on to me.

Cincinnati City Council Corruption
In what way did he make people believe that they had to pay him or their project was dead? He literally said "I always vote yes for developments" and that was true. He basically said, whether you pay me or not you have my vote. How can you have a bribe when he didn't have anything of value to give them, having already told them he was going to vote yes anyway?

Nah, more like Sherrod II

2022 U.S. Senate Race
Inflation will not be 9% and gas will not be $4.50+ in November.

Cincinnati: West End: Development and News
I don't think this is true. FCC officials have no problem with another hotel in the area. In fact, my understanding is that they would welcome it. The other hotel has been delayed because of the "historic" building they want to demolish to build it.

General Transit Discussion
In Cincinnati, we have lots of residential development happening in Downtown/OTR, which is also the largest employment center in the region, and tons of jobs being added to the area around CVG. A smart strategy would be to connect these two nodes with a light rail line.

I feel like you've been pessimistic for years, and the development just keeps happening. The Findlay Market area is especially on fire right now.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Development and News
I don't think it is true that this area of downtown in becoming more dead. First, you had the 84.51 building. Then you had 4th and Race. Now you have a ton more units coming online in the next few years along that western stretch of 4th. And you have the Fountain Place redevelopment adding office workers, restaurants, and the golf simulator/bar/restaurant. This are was extremely dead when I moved to Cincinnati and it has only trended in the right direction, notwithstanding the closing of the department stores--which I always saw as inevitable.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Cbus has less restrictive zoning. You can build taller and denser in a lot of the city. Less red tape means the developer can spend more on the structure itself. This is why they are eating our lunch in terms of new building quality and housing production.

I'm not actually sure where in this response you disagreed with me. I too have almost been hit by a car many times on Main Street, both biking and walking. I too would like to see more improvements to make it safer. I too also often make eye contact with drivers (and yell at them) when they speed up. Did my post make it seem like I was advocating for the status quo? Because I'm certainly not doing that.
