Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
I think it would hurt businesses during the week when there isn't much going on on Main Street. Plus make life harder for all the people living there. And there are four bus routes that use Main that would need to be changed (could be fixed easily with making Walnut two-way). But making Main a ped-only street on weekend nights seems like a no-brainer.

What are you even going on about? This is about state House and Senate maps, not the Congressional maps.

Cleveland: Population Trends
https://www.census.gov/library/stories/2022/03/united-states-deaths-spiked-as-covid-19-continued.html The largest increase in 100 years. 19% increase in 2020 and stayed elevated in 2021.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
1. Cool. It was full when you saw it and it is never full when I park there. Both can be true. 2. I don't know what the amount of money made on it has to do with whether it is at capacity? You realize that is silly right? I don't doubt that it makes tons of money. 3. I was just genuinely curious what your opinion on this is. Of course you can dislike it. Just seems like a weird thing to get up in arms about.

I agree his heart seems to be in the right place. I was referring to people who don't understand why he's fighting Elm & Liberty. Well, because that's his client. It doesn't mean he personally believes it.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
1. When I do drive downtown (not often), I often park in this lot. It is NEVER full, even when the north lot at Findlay Market is at capacity. Even on FCC game days. 2. OTRCH own the lot. Should they not be allowed to develop their property?

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
Honest question, what kind of drugs we talking? If they are just having a few beers or smoking a joint in front of the building I don't think that's a big deal. But if they are shooting up that's a different story.

Cleveland: Population Trends
This is the right answer. Deaths were WAY up in 2020-2021.

Cleveland: Population Trends
Of note, these estimates are for the year ending July 1, 2021. That's the height of a lot of pandemic-related issues. Higher deaths, work from home, lower births. Things have looked a lot different since then. I fully expect that next year's estimates will be much more rosy.

Cleveland: Flats Developments (Non-Stonebridge or FEB)
Recently spent some time in FEB and thought, man, how great would it be if the surface lots across from Punchbowl Social and along Front Avenue got developed. Any plans for this? Also, was astounded at the lines for some of the bars. That area could use more bars on the weekend for sure. What's it like during the week?

Cleveland as a college town
I'm not sure this is it. Cincinnati has UC and Miami, plus NKU right across the river. And if you're including Akron and Kent in the Cleveland market you have to consider Dayton in the Cincinnati market, so you also have Wright State in the Cincinnati public school market. I'd say the bigger issue with CSU is probably just the age of the institution. UC, OSU, Miami, and even Kent and Akron have had longer to establish themselves and build up their endowments. You also have OU, the public institution with the third largest endowment in the state and the longest history, which syphons off more kids from Cleveland and Columbus than it does Cincinnati.

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
Absolutely! I was born and raised in Appalachian Ohio. My family is there. I visit often. I want smart investments that will move the region forward. Broadband is one example.

Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
Infrastructure investments that boost the tax bases in the big cities help pay for the roads, sewers, schools, etc. in Appalachia. Without the big cities, Southeast Ohio would be in much dire straits. I don't expect every citizen to understand that, but if our state lawmakers don't then we have a big problem.

2022 Ohio Gubernatorial Election
I don't know about that. I think she'll definitely lose, but she's a more exciting candidate than Cordray. He's a nice guy but boring as hell and wonky. She's a better public speaker, is very popular in Dayton, and is a woman--which has been beneficial electorally the past few years in mobilizing suburban women.

Cincinnati: West End: Development and News
Milwaukee arena is about 280,00 square feet. It would not fit on that block.

This just shows he's a good attorney. In those lawsuits he is representing his client's interest, not the greater good or his own opinions.

2022 Ohio Gubernatorial Election
I could see Blystone running third party (still unlikely, but possible). He has no loyalty to the party or to DeWine. He's just crazy enough to think he could win.

Cincinnati: West End: Development and News
That block is around 200,000 square feet and the current arena is about 150,000 square feet. But I think a modern arena would have trouble fitting.

Ohio: General Business & Economic News
For sure. And my comment is not a smack at Cleveland. Let's just be realistic. The trend line is (mostly) positive in Cleveland now, but it does not represent a "sharp turn" just yet. I hope the upward trend continues and gets even stronger because I love Cleveland. Columbus is surging. Cincy is doing well. Cleveland has turned a corner. But we need stronger growth in all three to rise the tide in Ohio and make up for the losses in the rurals and smaller metros.
-
Ohio: General Business & Economic News
The Cleveland metro area lost over 12k people between 2020 and 2021. What is your assertion based on? I've seen no data to indicate that Cleveland saw a turn that "tilted sharply upward."
