  1. We are getting what they put up on their site. I'm not sure what else they can do but give the actual definition that they are using? They only have so many resources to "educate" the public and they are holding several public information sessions, running TV and radio ads, etc. I feel like people have unrealistic expectations.
  2. I wonder if population density wouldn't be a better choice here. With population you run into the modifiable areal unit problem. EDIT: Saw @ryanlammi beat me to the punch. Great minds, and all that!
  3. I can't speak to this, because I wasn't here in 2012. A lot of my neighbors weren't here then either. We don't care if it was better before and got worse we just know Cincinnati public transit SUCKS and we want it to be better. I mean... Yea, this is true. Zero disagreement here. But that doesn't change the fact that we need to improve the bus system and this is the politically palatable way of doing it. I've talked to folks on the west side and in places like Anderson Twp. The only way we're ensuring this passes is by focusing on the roadway improvements and the tax break that people who work in the city and live in the suburbs are going to get.
  4. It takes 17 minutes to get from Logan to South Station on the Silver Line. I've done it many times and the timing has been consistent. I've never run into a problem. The crazy loop is weird but it beats the hell out of an Uber or taxi. This quibbling over what is and what isn't BRT is dumb. Most people have never heard the term. What SORTA is proposing is vastly improved public transit for the region. I hope we eventually get the Hamilton Avenue line built because I will use it often. I don't care if we call it BRT or Express or whatever. I'll just be glad to get to my destination faster than I currently can on the 17.
  5. What public meeting was that? I've never heard anyone from SORTA express that sentiment. The plan is for actual BRT, not more Metro Plus.
  6. Senate OTR sometimes has one as their specialty dog of the day.
  7. I was always told that you can only get it two places in the world: Cincinnati and a small town in Bavaria. I can't remember the name of the town, but supposedly immigrants from that town brought it here.
  8. The Artistry is 344 units and is being done in one phase.
  9. Gotcha. I saw they pulled permits for them again toward the end of 2019. Thought they would be getting under way soon after that. Glad to hear they plan to get them started at some point.
  10. I also heard they were supposed to be closing but I still see people there when I go by.
  11. Yea, unless they're three stories. Then they'll be pretty big. But having no basement really made them go up fast. There's a lot a block from there that is supposed to get three new construction homes but it has just been a hole in the ground forever. Hopefully that gets back on track eventually.
  12. Yea, there's way too much competition there. I'd like Northside to be that alternative. Folks in Covington want it. Oakley Square wants it. Heck, even Blue Ash wants it. It's great that so many business districts are thriving though. Now we just need to make them safer for pedestrians.
  13. Two new construction houses going up on Mad Anthony, between Knowlton and Spring Grove. The green house on the right is also being renovated. Pic taken 1/25/2020
  14. Stay tuned.
  15. The demographics in a lot of those places have changed. The Census Block Group that includes Elder HS is now 45% nonwhite. Westwood is becoming very diverse, with a mix of people of color and college-educated whites. Almost all of those places are getting more blue in elections. More and more people are moving in who are supportive of expanding transit options, even if it doesn't benefit them directly on a daily basis.
  16. Sizable? I don't really think so. Bill Cunningham's audience does not live in the City of Cincinnati. They live in Eastgate, West Chester, Lebanon, Alexandria, Florence, Brown County, etc.
  17. I hear this the most too. Now, granted, my social sphere is not really representative. Most of the people I hang out with are transplants and many of them came from cities with working transit. They can't wrap their mind around the idea that we would purposely sabotage this asset.

I haven't noticed any uptick in its usage. I've been hearing this regularly since I was in college at least and I'm in my 30s.
  19. Is it controversial still? Maybe in Clermont County or Kenwood, but among actual city residents there seems to be the following opinions: 1. It doesn't really go anywhere but it's nice to have. 2. It doesn't really go anywhere but I wish they'd extend it so it would. 3. It has spurred development, but it's not really that useful for transportation. 4. Eh. I don't really think about it much. There doesn't seem to be a huge resistance within city limits. And points 1 through 3 above would be fixed by making it run faster and more frequent and eventually expanding it. I don't think PG will make it a centerpiece of his campaign, but when asked about it, if he says "I'm going to improve the frequency and travel times so it's more useful and then we can look into making it go uptown" I don't think anyone will view that as negative.
  20. He's very popular with the left. I don't see anybody making a serious challenge.
  21. That's why I said end of second term. I think he'll focus on fixing Phase I during his first term.
  22. I'll make a bold prediction right now. Sittenfeld will win and we will have Phase II, up the hill to Vine and WH Taft, under construction by the end of his second term.
  23. Also, there's Joella's at the Banks and Fiery Hen on Court Street. Both specialize in Nashville Hot Chicken but both have normal fried chicken versions.
