  1. So this post got me thinking about this thread again. Is the Amtrak ConnectsUS totally decided on the lakefront location at this point? I couldn't find the post (sorry)but I recall upthread someone having said that the CUT concept KJP put together had been pitched and seemingly received well by some official or other. Is there still any hope for that grand vision for CUT? If the city and ODOT's E18th plan messes up the lakefront ConnectsUS plan and forces them into CUT then perhaps I could live with the E18th plan, suboptimal though it is...
  2. Regarding the Health Line on Euclid - as I understand it, the buses originally had signal priority on Euclid and then the Jackson admin eventually removed signal priority due to complaints from car commuters. I learned of this via forum over the years so citation very needed and I might be misremembering, if so please correct me. I was wondering whether anyone has heard anything about any potential plans to reinstate signal priority along Euclid to make the "BRT" a little more R again, since it sounds like there is less traffic due to remote work and there is a new admin now? Or whether that's even something on the city and/or RTA's radar?
  3. Seemingly the College of Arts and Sciences, per slide 17: https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/cleveland-state-henshu.appspot.com/o/2022-11-17_Board Presentation_v2.pdf?alt=media&token=196cc0e7-eea0-4403-a197-b5bcf2e3e6c4
  4. Based on the 2022 master plan, it's hopefully the "Future Academic" buildings.
  5. If the idea was that we'd be tearing down a symbol of oppression for some folks, I'd be more sympathetic, but I truly don't understand how that building at all impedes capping the freeway. It's nice looking older building in a town that is replete with grass lots where cool historic buildings used to be. I don't get why something like this isn't possible instead.
  6. Sorry if this is in the article and I just can't read, but is it known whether the owners of Taylor Commons are playing ball on this? Doesn't look like WXZ or Cleveland Heights own those parcels yet per the county auditing site. Edit: I have been informed a deal is in place for the Taylor Commons site, per this article. https://www.clevelandbuilds.com/news/historic-buildings-cleveland-heights-are-catalyst-potential-100-million-project?fbclid=IwAR3I3lNtb5SGmwEBB0TDLCaagxFWGMpPj7NELVgzhgBrJCc5ooGLb67f5Xc
  7. I went there once or twice in Columbus in 2010 or 2011. It was fine, I think. Not great, not bad. I don't remember much about it, which I suppose says something. Granted I don't know what may have changed in the last decade.
  8. I wish they would have chosen to preserve that old building. But if it has to go I'm glad it's being replaced by what it is.
  9. I am always amused at the fact that we for some reason have close to the highest splashpads per capita among the rated cities. It's not a bad thing, just not what I would have expected. Whenever there is a new park design released I always end up looking for a splashpad and having a chuckle. Should probably add one or two more downtown with some playgrounds for good measure.
  10. Just a heads up - the caption under the photo after Studio West 117 seems to be a placeholder. Still a great article!
  11. Not a huge fan of the enormous setback from the street, at least for the part of the building designed for people. Hopefully they leave the cool older stations standing and someone finds another use for them.
  12. Tweet thread about design review reactions
  13. PGR employee here. I'm not sure whether this is referring to the parking garage property or the UCC building, but I'm not aware of any plans to substantially expand the downtown presence by much. I'd expect a sort of "if it ain't broke don't fix it" approach on that front as far as office space goes. Parking garage: Definitely not. UCC building: Doesn't seem likely to me, but who knows. Granted I'm not very high up the totem pole so my information on stuff like this is pretty limited. But unfortunately I would not get my hopes up about a substantial PGR development downtown.
  14. This seems related enough to developments for this thread, if not related to a development. Certainly a rampant problem amongst local developments, glad to see some action taken by the city on it.
  15. Employee here, it's still there chugging along. I assume they're working remote atm. I'm not aware of any plans for any sort of substantial expansion there though. God I wish.
  16. That would seem to be the plan according to the video rendering.
  17. I gotta say I like those Random Road apartments a lot more than I liked their renderings
  18. Could buy a lot of jersey barriers with that money 🤔
  19. Agreed. Personally I would like to see more trees actually on the grass a la Willard Park or Fort Huntington Park, but I don't know whether their roots would potentially cause problems with the convention center structure or something. Maybe put them on Mall C if they're worried about losing the Mall as a large event space.
  20. Here's hoping Ohio City Brew Stop survives this development. It has become a favorite of mine during my time in the neighborhood.
  21. Steelyard Commons Crocker Park. 😏
  22. I don't remember the building having that big gray hat in the renders, but I gotta say I kinda dig it
  23. Could be a hot tub or something
  24. This could be nothing, but I figured it was curious enough to post here. Over the last few days, a bunch of huge trees have been cut down on this empty lot. I checked the county GIS website and the parcel changed hands in 2017. I'm wondering if the current owner is looking to build something there now. I checked all the adjacent lots to make sure it wasn't the same owner looking to extend an existing property's backyard or something, but they all have different owners. Anybody know anything?
