Cincinnati: West End: Development and News
In fact, the soccer stadium itself was justified as ‘for the children’ by Sittenfeld when he flipped from ‘no way’ to supporting it. He claimed his conversation with the teacher’s union persuaded him due to the additional tax revenue the schools would get. 🙄

You should check. In court, the 'developer' admitted they did not have financing. Extremely doubtful - this is not an experienced crew.

Cincinnati: West End: Development and News
It's NOT being held up in court. That case has been over for ages. It's been a hole in the ground with NO action for almost two years.

Cincinnati: West End: Development and News
Assumed this was a reference to the boutique hotel proposed by The Pitch management. It's been years and all we got was a hole in the ground.

Cincinnati: West End: Development and News
There is no boutique hotel.

Cincinnati: West End: Development and News
That boutique hotel has been a hole in the ground for over a year — doesn't seem to be making any progress. Not sure they ever had the financing. Anyone have other news on it?

Cincinnati: Potential New Arena
Agreeing with @tonyt3524— this statement is remarkably similar to what PJ said before he flipped from 99% likely a no vote (so he said), stadiums aren't a good investment for cities (citing research), etc to 'I'm holding this press conference because NOW I am persuaded'.

breakground replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionIt might. And too many STRs can certainly drive away residents...and homebuyers.

breakground replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionLandlord tenant law is not the applicable law. Cincinnati considered regulating STRs a few years ago. There was no claim made by anyone that it would not be allowed under Ohio law. In the end, Airbnb successfully supported local lobbying to eliminate Council support. THAT might happen again - but unless the Ohio law has changed in the interim, regulation limiting STRs is possible here.

breakground replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionWhat is the basis of this statement? NYC recently eliminated STR and sustained the new law over Airbnb litigation.

breakground replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionAgreed! Also true of the big hole in the ground across from the stadium? What the heck happened to that development? They tore down the canal building months ago and haven't progressed an inch since!

RyanLammi is correct. The diet plan was moving forward, after multiple community meetings and compromises, until it mysteriously wasn't - except some people in the know were so angry, they shared publicly that it was FCC asking Cranley to make changes to the diet.

1) Still in litigation 2) Still needs approvals for ROW of alley and possibly additional changes to plans 3) Rumor is they don't have financing in place

Cincinnati: West End: Development and News
Agreed. Complete disrespect for the culture of place. In addition to tearing down buildings, the impact of this massive structure creating an enormous barrier between the two neighborhoods is undeniable. So far, we haven't seen any positive impact on the West End economy for long-term residents. (Arguably, the opposite with the loss of locally owned businesses.)

There are height limits in the PD Zoning as approved by the city.

breakground replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionMaybe that motivated some...but what we heard loud and clear: "Closing Woodward will only move the activity, not end it. What's the plan to end it?" "Where is the concern for the crime that is happening on Green between Republic and Vine? Very bad and disruptive activity, but because it's not a problem for business, there's no action." "We're tired of losing our historic street grid. It's an important part of what makes our neighborhood unique and special."
