  1. you had me till you misspelled Crocker Park.. completely unnecessary
  2. you are correct... but it doesn't fit the narrative.
  3. I bet if people dont have to sit in sub zero temperatures they would go to those games.. I know i would go then, but i wont sit in the cold anymore.. Why would anyone want to
  4. I went down to BrewDog last night for all you can eat wings.. and the group i was with was shocked by the scope of the apartments going up right next door. They really are an impressive addition on that piece of land.. It was beautiful to see. Lets build more!
  5. This would be fantastic!! Maybe we can get a proper aquarium, a new fields museum, a planetarium and/or a Cleveland sports museum!!! Would go nice on the lake front surrounding by parks and residential!
  6. So alot of the attendance to indians games are from locals.. a football game brings in 1,000's of out of towners that spend the weekend here, fill up hotels, eat at restaurants, drink at our bars and visit the tourist stuff. Alot of Indians fans, drive in and drive out.. I know cause i am one of them. I dont pregame or postgame. just in and out for the game. I dont even pay for parking most of the time. I think we gotta look at all the ancillary football does for the city too.. Stats like this are disingenuous.
  7. Football is a different animal then baseball... You can not compare the too unfortunately.
  8. what pisses me off is that TNT is using old stock footage of downtown Cleveland and hasnt shown one live shot all night..,. how disrespectful
  9. Maybe Haslam can get Ikea to sign on in Brookpark, or maybe some other brands that arent in the Cleveland area
  10. Unfortunately thats not how that works at all.
  11. I do not think Downtown would be hurt at all honestly. I have a life goal to watch our sports teams play in every city. I am currently working my way through MLB with 17 out 30 cites visited. When i travel i always stay downtown and commute to the stadiums, either by public transit or through rideshare. I am sure thats exactly what would happen here.
  12. but its not 8 days a year.. Its whole weekends that people will book these hotels. I dont have any numbers either but i do alot of work downtown. Just this past year for the 49ers game, There were thousands of people here for the weekend. I drove alot of them around. It was crazy with the amount of money they would spend. I think its disingenuous to make the 8 days argument, when most home football games are a huge out of town draw for us. I do not see the same thing with the NBA and MLB, sure there are some but football is a huge event in every city for every game. I have traveled the country to watch our teams play, when i go i go for multiple days in each city. Thats what were are looking for her.
  13. This is a terrible take.
  14. I would love to take a tour!!!
  15. Also there is the matter of US steel that still hasnt been resolved. I would think that sale would have to finish first before anything gets moving..
  16. Based on this statue being put up, Why havent we tried to put up a superman museum or a musuem of one of our famous people? I travel a ton and ive noticed that many cities have these mini museums.. Pittsburgh has the Andy Warhol and Lakewood, NY has am I love Lucy one.. What famous historical people could we put up? Bob hope? Superman? Jesse Owens? Hell we could even do something about stouffers...
  17. How about a new Aquarium and a new planetarium! Or some other Museum type to bring more people down there.
  18. I dont think the Haslems will be blamed at all... This is Bibb not giving any options other than staying on the lakefront. Bibb needs the stadium there to do the landbridge.. Bibb is being short sighted and it will cost him the most. There are more options for the browns in the city proper but Bibb refuses to discuss them.
  19. TBH i think the soccer stadium goes with the Browns stadium...
  20. The problem seems to be that Bibb wont sell or even think about another piece of land downtown.. Bibb knows that without the Browns on the Lakefront the Landbridge is probably dead on his term. I think that's the issue here, Bibb needs his legacy cemented by getting that started and he cant do it without the Browns. If the Browns move to Brook park, they are not beholden to helping with the removal of the old stadium, they wipe their hands of that situation.
  21. Problem is that reports say that it cant have a roof put on it because its built on a landfll and that to remodel it they would have to take it down to the studs... no way you play through that.
  22. This is my whole point. I think we have a really good opportunity here and it would be a poor leadership on all sides to not take advantage of it and do something great!
  23. They have reported that to bring the stadium up to par they will have to take it down to the studs.. no way they can do that in stages.
  24. If they are rebuilding the stadium then i guess we wont have football in Cleveland for about 3 years.. they will have to play somewhere else.. Thatll decimate in the economy and take alot of tax dollars away from the city.
