  1. Thought I saw another crane from I 75 this morn. Marvey
  2. judge not less you be judged. if mother's can deliver babies in the jungles of India, Africa and S. america, they can deliver and rear them in :Nashville. It was hot but my take was not. stop looking for something to whine about. jeez mary, humans have done pretty well with raising families all over this planet. the new king james will say, god destroyed sodom, gomorrah, and nashville. did you notice i mentioned stopping all traffic at intersections to allow any and everyone (includes mothers and babies) to cross the street. that should make all ohio urbaners so happy. in my lifetime the world's population has jumped from 2 billion to 7.5 billion. bees and pests, like bachelors and singles must be destroyed.
  3. "people like traveling to Nashville...", I just spent a few days in Nashville. What a lively city.Yesterday, Friday took the trolley tour around the city. The tour guy was horrible but, the city is bustling. Easily 30 cranes floating over the skyline. At least 30 new buildings are being constructed right now. These buildings are between 15 and 40 floors, sleek, modern and appealing. The music/bar/party area was 5 or so blocks long and each side street was a continuation of the same type of entertainment. Flashy signs, loud music from the bars as well as the cars, trucks, vans, peddle wagons. For blocks it was wall to wall young people, partying at 3pm on a friday. There were outdoor restaurants, balconies from apartments, condos, and roof top terraces filled with party-ers, visitors and in general happy people. Think of our restaurant food sampling weekend in 3D. Oh, and many intersections stopped traffic in all directions allowing pedestrians to cross in whatever fashion they chose. Think Tokyo. The tour was one big advertisement for Nashville Kats. None of this was my cup of tea but a conventioneer would leave this town and have tons of stories to tell. The weather sticky, muggy and hot. The pocketbooks of Nashville filled to overflowing. The reputation of Nashville soaring. About a year ago I read an article about surging city growth and somewhere in the article Cincinnati was mentioned, "What's happening in Cincinnati; nothing".
  4. what is the possibility that the boutique hotel builders are socialists and the board just called Lindner to get their instructions? Oh and, there are some historic cities in this country that build taller than 4 stories. I know I know; this is Cincy and we must preserve it's history.
  5. as a leftist, I think if you give everyone a fighting chance more good will come. For instance, everyone gets the same education for the first 12 years. It means all moneys are equally divided. That means elimination of all private education. That means everyone is taught science and religion is banned from all education. If you need a god then go to a church at some other time. That means you can't teach that murder has more consequences for the poor and less for the rich because the rich are not use to "rough treatment" or they were on a "sugar high". That means that there are no "treats" for connections with important people. That means that you can believe what you want, but education is sacred. In other words, dead people don't crawl out of the grave and there are no ghosts. Really, there are no ghosts or angels, or spooks, or magic. If for some reason science can find the afore mentioned beings, they will be evaluated and maybe approved for education. That means that lies/Fox news cannot be broadcast without a flashing red sign that reads "fake, fake, fake". If someone says he knows for sure there is "yellow cake" in Nigeria and there is no yellow cake in Nigeria, that person/institution/belief system will be jailed for life. That is called treason. Prisons, education, healthcare, and utilities will not be run by private companies for profit. Or, we could just eliminate all that stuff and implant a "do unto others as you would have them do unto you" chip into all people. And finally, if someone decides to declare war on someone else. That person or persons will need to fight that war. Not some goofy testosterone filled teenager who believes all the crap that is beamed from the tv. and of course the most important thing is a wall. a wall between church and state.
  6. sorry about that mr. jwulsin. as I typed in russia i thought self... was it germany or russia. to lazy to go back and check it. I like what's happening in Newport with no satirical intention whatsoever. I have never seen buildings topped off like they are in the Newport project. I like them. And, I hope they are built as presented in the illustrations.
  7. check out the top story of these affordable houses from russia. bee breeders affordable housing project.
  8. Overall, I like it. Really depends on the finished product. I do have a question though, those "A" frame tops seem to be very tall and very large single rooms. observation decks, restaurants? It will surely give Newport a skyline and maybe will be seen during reds games.
  9. lions, tigers and bears, oh my. socialists, commies, and lefties too. millionaires, billionaires and minimum wage is too high. what are we going to do? Red lines, blue lines and white lines too. no black lines, no brown lines or rainbow hues. no water, no food just more for you. who dey
  10. how do you think the new convention center hotel should look? pick the shape, finish, cap, and height. and may your dreams come true.
  11. New arena locations in city core.. north of Liberty, Casino (2 locations), Central Parkway at the bend
  12. someone needs to rework the corner of central parkway and central parkway. At least widen the Plum Street part so that thru traffic could stay in the right lane and not have to jog left.
  13. How about keeping the street straight from Paul Brown to the Great American stadiums. Add the rest. that is being built. Then borrow the fountain design from Union Terminal. Doesn't need to be the same but retro-deco style. In the summer it runs. In the winter it becomes an ice rink. with a little imagination the sculpture could become a freedom design. Great for photography and a center peace. Rockefeller Center West.
  14. Here is a sketch of FC Cincinnati Hotel Complex with a renewed Burger Beer Building. The Hotel could be a red brick retro-look of the demolished beer company.
  15. These renderings look great. a red brick facade to keep the red brick city look. Sympathetic use of materials that transition an ultra modern stadium to the 1800 buildings everyone seems to want to keep. A new hotel that with any luck won't be anything like a boring repeat of recent interstate motels. And a tree lined street that will fit well with renderings of a reworked Central Parkway. Plus, new home construction that will help soften the blow between industrial (Sam Adams) to city neighborhood (Westend). I think FCC will do a great job when all is said and done.
  16. this one with boardwalk parking under and a flood wall.
  17. Point well made. I thought about that but didn't put it in. if the city saw it as an advantage by adding shops etc. they could build a dyke wall and dry parking. I am just showing the wall in the image.
  18. maybe a less busy area would be a better choice. A hotel and condos both with private docking.
  19. I thought I read the casino bought the bus station. If so, I think the best location would be at illustration B. It is connected to existing parking. It is close to the interstate, views of Mt. Adams (both back sides) and views of the city(both front sides). Plus probably the best location for a terrace cafe. It also could be easy to connect the hotel to the casino. If location A is chosen, it is also connected to parking but the view of city gets lots of casino roof. The worst location would be the front lawn. There is no easy way to the garage.
  20. those horrible gray concrete walkways. that's what makes the bengals the team they are. what i would call a brand new stadium is in dire need of a $200 million paint job. i wouldn't go to the voters for that one.
  21. im glad you guys started thinking about developing central parkway. parking garage gets my ok. the proposed hotel looks good even though the old building between the hotels is silly. Unless it was turned into an 19th century breakfast area for the hotel. Way to many surface parking lots. Seems that multi storey parking would attract more interest. I never thought about getting rid of the mid street garden areas (the median). But wide sidewalks next to the buildings, then garden, then five traffic lanes in the center would make a great european blvd (option d see above) Add a few sculptures: sacred cows, an ape, and a few old goats should do the trick.
  22. Well then, maybe a goat fountain would bring in some tourists. I think people like change and if you can't afford a new tower, or an arch like in St. Louis, or a giant ferris wheel get them a goat.
