  1. Perhaps a dumb question, but I thought soft serve refers to the stuff served out of machines, like what's sold at Dairy Queen or McDonald's. Would the gelato from uGO also be considered "soft serve"? This is a sincere question, as I don't know much about the technical distinctions between these categories. And is what Dojo Gelato serves different from what uGO is planning? Gelato is definitely not soft serve ice cream. Soft serve typically is non-dairy product that is poured out of machines in cones. Gelato is placed in tubs and then scooped out, making it hard serve ice cream has cream, ice milk has milk and i believe gelato is closer to ice milk, kaolin is clay and is or was used to make soft serve products. Dairy Queen and the like. I think this is right.
  2. those renderings are an absolute disgrace, and if I were presented with this in any official capacity, I would actively stop paying attention at the completely irrelevant Marilyn (seriously, what in the hell does that have to do with anything that has ever or will ever happen in the tri-state area?) Monroe image on the title screen. like a candle in the wind.
  3. i can appreciate your observations. but the idea was to put police presence on sight and open opportunities for business in the future. You cant predict the future or when it will get here. Every tom d*ck and harry drives a gigantic 50,000 dollar 4x4 truck which gets about 17 miles per galloon. Those trucks will still be around for 2o more years. there maybe another white flight exodus or maybe temperatures rise so much that only the poor live in the inner city. who knows how it will all pan out.
  4. maybe consider using part of the parking, create a 24/7 police sub-station and a set of fast charge battery stations.
  5. a frank gehry, its not.
  6. that building on central parkway... i don't think will Howie Taft studied law there, or Harriet beecher Stowe didn't use it to store unsold books and lindner never milked a cow there. tear it down and build a big shiny glass monolith on those lots and bring cincy into the 20th century.
  7. i love that americans decided to save the native american indians from fires so they made them walk from the carolinas to Oklahoma.
  8. it has a Bauhaus/post and lintel/Knossos/hanging garden of Babylon vibe for me.
  9. samuel adams knew this light polution situation was going to ruin the reputation of our dark city and built a castle wall around their entire plant. once a great american said, Mr. Adams, tear down that wall.
  10. What would happen in this city if there was a two lane cycle track and BRT on this route? Cars can have a lane for driving and a lane for parking. my first thought was seasonal usage of cycles. A dedicated lane for cycles would probably be underused during the late fall, early spring and winter months. It is a pretty flat route for cincy. that may make it more attractive to bikes. Maybe a better idea would be to eliminate the loop. Make one lane from Clifton to East Walnut Hills. One lane should be plenty for bikers. The BRT loop idea sounds great and would work well if the lanes were truly designated BRT. That means a divider between BRT and cars.
  11. Maybe this is the answer to reducing pollution, congestion, and historic neighborhoods. Saudi Arabia to build 170 kilometre-long city as part of Neom project (dezeen.com) i think dezeen.com will to the video.
  12. Cincy is full of northern european heritage. Street names were once german, i hear. in Habigs you could hear german conversations and many other restaurants served german dishes. Cincy is supposed to be a beer city. and many beers seem to have german names made right here in the city. There are many northern europoean names on trucks, schools, businesses. i attended school with lots of german sounding names. Now we even have soccer/futbol. With a little clever marketing, I bet we could attract at least one northern european to visit our fair city. we even have maybe three octoberfests. in other words there is a tradition of german/north.european settlement here. OTR was probably built by many german bricklayers. If advertised with a little flare all the new hotels could be full of Edelweiss. Danke Shane
  13. There is no question that soccer is a fascinating sport. It is literally played worldwide, but for the uninitiated, it can seem like somewhat of a confusing sport. For example, what do the terms “Red”, “Real”, and “United” mean? Of course, if you are going to get into soccer, it is important to know these abbreviations. While it can be said that the national pastime in the United States would be baseball, it also can just as easily be said that the world pastime would be soccer. However, knowing these terms is just the tip of the iceberg. There are also many abbreviations that can be just as daunting and confusing. For example, what about CF? What does THAT mean? Well, it actually stands for “Club de Futbol” and it is popular terminology in many Spanish countries. Of course, this leads us to our next point: what of the meaning of FC? We even see the FC term with the soccer clubs in the United States. What does FC mean in soccer? History of the FC Terminology In the United States, the “FC” term first took off with the establishment of the Major League Soccer (MLS) league in 1996. There are now 24 MLS teams in the United States and Canada, and they have plans to expand to 27 teams by 2022 and then later on to 30 teams. Presently, the teams based in Atlanta, Cincinnati, Columbus, New York City, Orlando City, Toronto, Dallas, Los Angeles, Minnesota, Seattle and Vancouver all use the “FC” terminology in their name. Moreover, a proposed future team based in Austin, Texas will be using the terminology as well. However, this isn’t just an American soccer phenomenon. Throughout the world, this term is readily used. Examples would include FC Liverpool, FC Andorra, Arsenal FC, and FC Barcelona among many others. The importance FC Terminology? Of course, this all begs the question, just why do some teams think using FC in their name is important? It’s possibly because they want to establish themselves within the proud tradition that is soccer, or “football” if you will. Naturally, the FC term is also heavily utilized in order to identify a team, and this seems to be especially true within the culture of Europe and the English Premier League. However, in America, the term “FC” has not been without its share of controversy. This is possibly because the MLS is a newer league in the United States and one that for some reason doesn’t seem to get much respect. Needless to say, it is definitely time for Americans to give the MLS some credit, especially considering the fact they now have more attendance than many National Hockey League games. Of course, here is one of the main reasons why the term “FC” could be called controversial in the United States: The Meaning of the Term “FC” in Soccer So, just what does FC mean in soccer? You see, the reason why the term “FC” is somewhat controversial in the United States is that “FC” actually stands for “Football Club.” Some individuals have a little bit of difficulty wrapping their mind around the fact that “soccer” is actually called “football” in other countries. This is primarily because of the popularity of the American football league the NFL, which has been around since the early part of the 20th Century. Regardless of whether Americans might get offended or not, the most important thing to remember is that the MLS is a very young league. Thus, if we simply give it time, many sports fan will warm up to the fact that soccer teams are liable to have “FC” in their name look what i learned tonghit. and i always thought it meant Futbol Club.
  14. Wow! All I can hope is that the fcc haters on this sub can finally realize how much of a blessing that this occurred for otr and the west end. so much new development and new businesses are on the horizon thanks to fcc!
  15. we're all immigrants get over it. and please enjoy your disparaging. and i see your name regularly and you seem to have a lot to say so i hope you grew an inch taller today.
  16. looks like a wonderful facility. Looks like all the nay-sayers are eating crow. looks like the neighborhood is investing heavily; sam adams, the newport alley or whatever is expanding and may even be built. lots of work going on along Liberty. and I bet it will continue including the FCC owned property around the stadium. Seems those foreigners do know how to build a stadium after all. The stadium may even put Cincy on the map in Europe and bring in a $f***tonne of tourists and international investment.
  17. the sign above the video board reminds me of a 50s single A baseball scoreboard. a
  18. the ideal vs the real. the concept shows the eternal perfect day. fluffy clouds on a sunny day. flowers in full bloom, a gaslight district, people out in their matching spa clothes vs. a cold mom and cold baby, bare trees, no flowers and the reality of protecting pedestrians from erratic behavior of distracted drivers. Plus the pretty lady peddling her bike is contrasted with the cold dude with oversized off road tires on his bike. not the mention the jogger with bright red oversized street pants. This is the botched facelift that you never see, save maybe on Seinfeld.
  19. come to think of it, it doesn't take a dime to "not" put a 4 lane street on a diet. viva la grassie
  20. a putt putt style soccer course would brighten up the place. Past soccer greats defending the goals with colorful waterfalls, mountains, stadiums from around the world and windmills with gigantic feet.
  21. Funny, I was just thinking that. They are going to market this team for the next few years. Flags, Banners, didnt think of video but I bet you are right. I can't wait to see the light show.
  22. the take away here is wide street bad, narrow street good. Or, the city could put stop signs and stop lights. They work like this. Drivers should be informed that red means stop and green means go. (per Star Man, when the light is yellow go like hell). Pedestrians should be informed that a five fingered red hand icon means stop and a bright white walking icon means its your time to cross the street. just an idea that came to me.
