  1. this city should be happy as hell they get a new stadium, new development, and a concerned investor that wants to build affordable housing. the stadium isn't complete and major changes are happening around the area. Until someone comes up with a new way of getting people from a to b and back again, we will have cars, and buses, and big trucks and traffic problems and streets where pedestrians have to walk. Get used to it. Be against it and make all the points you want. If you build affordable housing downtown then that will alleviate some traffic. Its the midwest people will still have cars. If you build expensive housing those people will have two cars. This silly complaining will not change a thing. It sort of sounds like a particular political party who will not stop complaining about non existent fraud and scandal. Reminds me of all the digs on about the streetcar. It was said, a street car would not bring investment to over the rhine. wrong. Oh, and I see pedestrians cross every street in our city. Plus a saw a man get hit by a car trying to cross I75. So, don't try pedestri-ing I75.
  2. one good thing about this development is that, it's pedestrian friendly.
  3. i visited the Pitt at Univ of Pittsburgh years ago. I thought it was a unique stadium. Situated at the top of a hill as if they dug out a crater.
  4. once you finish digging the hole crawl in it..
  5. first of all let me apologize for stating my opinion. and I appreciate all of the studied and surely knowledgeable people who corrected everything i stated. But, needed to alter what i said to make their point. Oh, and thanks for bringing politics into the conversation. good idea. It is still my opinion that narrowing ludlow is not a good idea. It seems the majority of the people who righted me want to get rid of cars and will say anything to stop their fantasy of a 1900 cincinnati. Dream on. Statistics created the streets that currently exist. Detroit and the rest of the world are building cars as fast as they can. the population of the world is growing and people want to go. So put your cobble streets back on line and enjoy the mess you have created.
  6. another study, great. people still drive thru fast and reckless, per my observations Wed Nov 11 in the year of our lord 2020. why just why.
  7. yes, i agree the studies are just studies.
  8. well im a strange guy. i see things the way i see them and that is just the way it is. cities are not towers. when you say city do you mean to the city limits or the downtown area. because i also have lived in the city for my entire adult life. and i see things too. i see speeding reckless driving in the city especially in the alleys
  9. it is my opinion that studies are studies and reality is reality. Studies are why the transportation departments across the country decided to put up stop signs at intersections. In addition, speed limit signs are posted in every state. Instead of sitting in an ivory tower and declaring truth thru studies, go outside and watch for yourself. The number of people who don't stop at stop signs and go faster than the speed limit signs proves the studies wrong.
  10. really. honestly. try this. building a wall will not stop immigrants. reducing hamilton ave to no lanes will not stop people from speeding. the best way to stop speeders is to make people push their cars everywhere.
  11. Hamilton ave in northside is bound by cars and that makes it two lanes most of the day. Go stand and watch the cars pass at 50+ mph.
  12. seems to me, putting the transfer site in the chosen location was the most economical and central area they could have chosen. Put north of Blue Rock would cause endless arguments about destroying historic buildings. Parking lots and abandoned buildings are now bus friendly, pedestrian friendly. With the shelters and I think I saw a bathroom, it'll make the riders safer and the narrow sidewalks less crowded. My bet is that every rider that rides the bus has to walk to a bus stop to get the ride. bus stops will still be in the same location. In other words 75% will still walk to the same stops. The rest will walk about the same distance as they have in the past. Walking is not a problem with people who use public transportation.
  13. since the first caveman clubbed his mate then dragged her off, these types of restorations have been been the mainstay of what to keep as heritage. What is most important to men? I think its pretty obvious.
  14. or with just a little effort... Food Lion Buys out Kroger moves it's offices to central parkway and you get
  15. london reminds me of Gatlinburg. Gatlinburg reminds me of the county fair of my youth. The county fair reminds me of a beer garden without the beer. One man's London is another man's beer garden. Mecklenberg's Garden never reminded me of Germany. Ohioians, Kentuckians, and Indies all visit Gatlinburg. If you build it they will come.
  16. Newport should build the wheel. People like variety. anyone who rides the wheel in cincy will want to ride the wheel in Newport. It will be a reason for people to visit both riverfronts. With two wheels and two music venues, the river will become a destination for families, lovers, retirees, etc. They will eat, they will talk, and that will make the uniqueness of two wheels a great marketing strategy. Unless other cities already have two wheels.
  17. drove by the stadium today. its looking great and should bring a lot of development to the area over the next 10 years.
  18. The DOW and Corona and election and finally no one is allowed out to buy anything, will change this country and the world for the next 8 years. it will be ugly. Stocks should have never gone up this fast. checkout the last two weeks. There will be not convention center addition and there will not be a convention hotel for at least 8 years
  19. This is first for me. The historic Powell Valves Building is a charmer and since it has such a history and is beautiful, it truly is unfortunate that it will be torn down. That's a pity.
