Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
in school when we were taught about NEWS (north east west and south) some people weren't listening. When we learned about the weather and the difference between rain, snow, sleet and tornados some people weren't listening. When we learned about red green and yellow or a stop sign, merge sign, yield sign and no sign some people weren't listening. People don't listen because, well who knows. But, you end up with people who don't understand that a lane in the middle of a five lane highway (painted with left and right turn arrows in the center lane) is for people who want to turn. Instead they park themselves in the 2nd for 4th lanes with their signals going. When the odot puts up cement curbs in the middle of a 4 lane street, how many times have you seen people driving over these cement barriers because they see their destination. Or, a young woman sitting straight up with her hands and forearms touching the steering wheel (with her body close behind) following a vehicle way to close. That one always scares me. And for the last 20 years garmans have been directing traffic. They are simple machines not genies.

Cincinnati: West End: TQL Stadium
Hopefully, FCC developers are planning some store fronts, a hotel, and village for property along Liberty and the corner of Central Park. Maybe throw in a apartment or two. And hopefully, a nice big hotel and village would attract soccer tournaments and concerts. If the convention center needs a convention hotel, the stadium will need a hotel with surrounding ambiance. I could see a wide curbside park along Liberty, like the park at Broadway and 8th. It would give rise to a street scene that blocked the industrial look of the area. If the church stays, god forbid, the village should have the feel of 19th century Cincinnati. The red brick, the spires, the Italianate facades. Maybe Sam Adams will surprise us and move their headquarters to Cincy. It could be a real draw. The FCC at Sam Adams Stadium. Beer. what makes America great again.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
The neighborhoods of Cincy and NKY make this area unique. Hyde Park, Mt. Adams, OTR, MainStrasse, Mt. Lookout, Northside, Walnut Hills, and im sure there are many more including places like Cheviot. There is a dilemma though. When those places were developed people didn't have two and three cars to a family. They used public transportation. If people did live in walkable neighborhoods and used public trans. then maybe the surrounding neighborhoods would change slower. Until a time comes when people actually walk again there will be parking problems, changing neighborhoods, and neighborhood strife. Up and coming v. failing businesses and unwanted neighbors. We either have to learn to deal with "the other" (city life) or live in suburbia and mow the lawn all weekend.

Barron Krody is going to be happy, but its still the ugliest of all the earlier murals. Even uglier than the green dragon on Sycamore.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Fort Washington Way Cap
An outrageous unique sculpture that creates wind and noise breaks. Plus, creates shade and shelter for the public would be a great solution. Like St. Lou Arch, or the space needle in Seattle or this wood construction in Seville, Parasol.

Cincinnati: Walnut Hills / East Walnut Hills: Development and News
First you gotta build the new ballet building. The history of this town suggests that could be 4 to 6 years off. By then the new stadium will be up and running. IDOT will put their traffic counter trip lines down. They will have a better idea of how the new stadium impacts traffic in the area. The proposed convention center hotel will still be a proposal and FCC will build a lovely six story Hampton Inn on the site plus garage.

So many parking lots and street corners, and so little time.

Mike Brown seems to have a lot to say about height of buildings and I'm sure Linder, and the guys limited the height of development at The Banks. Well, not sure but I read it in a book.

If they build a 30 story building on that lot, I think their renters, that pay for a view of the city, will have a fit.

Cincinnati: Fountain Square: Development and News
I loved the first look for the square. the location of the fountain, different levels of gardens, the breeze way and even the wide covered walk on 6th Street. From the rendering the latest alterations won't improve the last alteration.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
I hope these sketches of the new convention center addition are just speculative, because that gigantic video screen is presented almost staring into the setting sun and overlooking an existing Plum and 5th street parking lot. So, my guess is it can't be seen in the daytime and who is gonna pay to sit in a parking lot and watch it at night.

I don't believe "d*ckering is a word (at least its meaning) that needs to be disguised or hidden. So, I looked it up. d*ckering (present participle) engage in petty argument or bargaining. "she advised him not to d*cker over the extra fee" synonyms: haggle · barter · negotiate · discuss terms · hold talks · deal · [more] treat something casually or irresponsibly; toy with something. "there was no d*ckering with the lyrics" nope, nothing to do with anatomy.

Thanks for all this info. My comment was directed toward people who want to fight over every nook and cranny on every project that comes down the river. And, I wasn't talking about Newport. I was talking about the IRS site as a location that could accommodate the combination of Convention Center, casino, convention hotel and why not through in a new arena and music venue. We would then have the best of all worlds no d*ckering about traffic, noise, foot traffic, parking, removal of streets, and views from the high-risers, historic buildings, and the list goes on. All these venues in the same place with a view of the skyline. Covington would reap all the benefits, but that would solve many of the issues. I wonder if Mr. Lindner, County Commissioners, our representatives, the Castellani's and other heavy investors would sign off on this.

Ah, you seem to know a lot about Cincinnati. I remember: that there was going to be a new bridge across the Ohio, 6o story GE headquarters at5th and Vine, the Olympics in queensgate, the vacant lot that is Saks and Nordstrom's, all the proposals for the Artistry location, the renderings of the banks then the reality, the cover over FWW. the inclines revival. Call your bookie and see if he has odds of this new hotel. If it does happen, maybe it will go up faster because stacking room after room is easier. Of course, people will complain about the look and height and the traffic and parking and color and the shadow it will cast on downtown.

Cincinnati: Pendleton: Development and News
After every labor day, food festival, tailgate party the areas are cleaned. I don't know, but my guess is that those are city employees that work overnight to clean up. I don't see why the same people couldn't be employed to clean up a parking lot that is trashed weekly. Doesn't seem like a big deal. If it is a big deal then eating drinking in otr should have a "value added" tax that would pay for clean up. If you want less shootings, I suggest you contact the NRA. They pretty much control anything to do with guns. As far as attraction of the wrong types of people go, we had a class in high school called Civics. Its not a car, rather and attitude about responsibilities of citizens. Young boys and girls (no matter their ages) seem to relish in the idea of personal freedom. That is to say, they eat the hotdog and spit out the relish and pee and what ever else they are holding. One simple thing that could possibly help the trash situation is to make sure every item sold be wrapped, contained, sipped thru paper. At least it will degrade. Oh, I don't care for country or hip-hop music, give me classical anytime.

yeah, 7stories gigantic! A bit of architectural detail (stepped terraces) people will stop and stare and point and weep. Solution keep it a parking lot, because parking lots are not too tall and really make you feel like you are in a historic area.
