Freddie is better - simple as that. Dorsey said they wanted someone that fits the future vision of the organization and it kept coming back to Freddie.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
I have sources indicating Bobby George has indeed purchased the building and in discussion around a tenant who is working on a partnership with the irishtown bend project. Breaking news here is (god willing) it will NOT be another eatery or brewery! Haven't heard any updates since summer though, so not sure current status.

ffs...we still on the blockland thing? lmao

Cleveland: Blockland
lol this has nothing to do with building Bitcoin projects in NE Ohio. Mining and decentralized application development are two completely different things.

Cleveland: Blockland
Blockchain is an overhyped term for implementing distributed ledgers in private industry. Unfortunately, distributed ledgers (in most cases) don't offer any real value over distributed databases UNLESS the distributed ledger publishes its transactions to a publicly verifiable source. This concept originated at Bellcore Labs, way back in the 80s/90s, where hashes of transactions were posted daily in the newspaper classifieds. And that solution was open to much more manipulation than today's public Bitcoin or Ethereum blockchains. Here is MIT doing it right http://news.mit.edu/2017/mit-debuts-secure-digital-diploma-using-bitcoin-blockchain-technology-1017 So Blockland appears to be pushing IBM's hyperledger (private distributed ledger) solution to many local county gov't and corporations, which is just a slower implementation of a distributed database, with some additional permission settings, in a distributed ledger format. Underneath the tech hustling appears to be some real community development efforts but are completely misguided if attempting to leapfrog over encouraging tech usage in CLE school to using Bitcoin technologies. There is plenty of real benefit to creating crypto solutions, specifically around free speech and personal financial sovereignty. However, Blockland doesn't appear to be focused in anything but private blockchain solutions which are bound to fail IMO. We'll see if the hype continues past the currently ongoing conference.

Cleveland: Downtown: Cleveland Arcade
Oh yea Barrio too! Though again, restaurant - this city is full of restaurants and bars, but very few other retail options. It's baffling to me.

Cleveland: Downtown: Cleveland Arcade
I was responding to mention of arcade across from The Beacon, which is 5th Street Arcade?

Cleveland: Downtown: Cleveland Arcade
The storefronts appear to be full...there are some useful places but overall, pretty lack luster and mostly novelty retail. Sushi 86, Vincenza's and Jack Flaps appear to be the main draws. Why is the only successful retail restaurant / bars? Is it a cultural thing to eat one's paycheck? How are we not able to support more fine home goods or specialty clothing boutiques?

Small Town & City Decline in Ohio
Many small Ohio towns have been on decline with the loss of manufacturing jobs. I don't think this is phenomena associated with just Ohio - it appears to be nationwide. In small, rural towns across America, the cost of real estate doesn't really fit with the median wage. The most affluent small towns are those with a localized, modern industry that also serves as a good spot for remote workers.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
I've been wondering how much the gentrification trend has impacted crime rates lately. It seems more people are entering trendy neighborhoods on the gentrification uptick, completely ignorant to the culture that precedes white subway tiles, giant lighted letters spelling out featured items, reclaimed wood and edison bulbs. If I were a long time neighborhood resident, I'd look at gentrified neighborhood patrons with some disdain and perhaps anger. I can't imagine the way the inner city neighborhoods are being developed will come without some casualty.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Lumen
Just got noticed of street closures around playhouse square...looks like some exciting events coming up at the lumen! For the October 4-7, 6 ton crane installation, crosswalks will remain open at E.14th and E.17th. For the October 22 mat pour, the Euclid crosswalk at Starbucks will have a “Sidewalk Closed” sign on it. Pedestrians can cross E.17th, then cross Euclid on the west side of the intersection.
