Cleveland: Cuyahoga County Gov't properties disposition (non-Ameritrust)
Eh, Wasteful, that's all this is. I just wanna know why with the acres and acres and acres of open property in Cleveland and Cleveland proper this is what we get. I understand location, I do, I understand that they think it will help the Euclid corridor, I get it, Jacobs called in a favor, I know, but getting it doesn't mean it is right. Maybe they could use the money to help pay for their CONVENTION CENTER/MEDICAL MART, instead of going right to the people to pay more money they just don't have, let them give up something for what they want. There is just so much other stuff that needs to be done around here and better uses for the money. I just don't understand it. Sorry to rant, but just makes you mad when you combine this with the sales tax increase, the schools being 150 million over budget on a billion dollar renovation, CMHA million dollar overbuying of a lot of grass that WE payed to clean. It is just Wasting money like there will always be more. EDITED TO MAKE SENSE

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
I am not against a sales tax increase, BUT, I really do not like the way they are going about raising it. So, now, no matter what, the people aren't going to want or like this project. Instead of marketing it to the people, they come out with statements like this, "the decision was made to increase the sales tax without a vote because it likely wouldn't pass at the ballot." Just does not make sense. Kinda makes you mad too. And for a town that wants to attract retail back, they have to remember sales tax plays a role in it. I just don't get it.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
Does anyone have any pictures of this building pre-whatever happened to it. By the time I moved to Cleveland the facade was already off, I am just curious as to what the interior and exterior used to look like.

Cleveland Public Schools: News and Discussion
This means they had a BILLION dollars to fix the schools and they are still short? Clevelanders won't pass another bond until they see at least minimal improvement in the schools, and that isn't going to be for a while...Eh, the article is depressing... I hate this quote, you have 60+ year old schools...How is this unanticipated? Do they even walk through the buildings anymore?

Cleveland: HealthLine / Euclid Corridor
Most people I know have no idea about the Euclid corridor project, and if they have heard about it, they are sketchy at best on the details. My parents were in town a couple of weeks ago (They are from Pittsburgh) so I gave them the tour of the city. They loved it till I drove them done Euclid. All they talked about was how depressing it looked and how they thought things were going such much better in Cleveland then Pittsburgh. Putting up a couple of signs that say, "please pardon our progress" or even sticking a couple in some of the empty buildings on lower Euclid will at least give idea that it is just more then road constructions and paving being done. I know all the jokes about the Avenue and "world class signage" but most people don't know whats going on around town. Signs are easy ways of saying, hey, things are changing, for the better. If I didn't frequent this site, I wouldn't know what is going on around Euclid either...Just my .2 cents.

internet providers in the Flats (of Cleveland)...
I live over in Old Brooklyn...I have had adelphia/TW for about 2 years. I didn't loose internet at all during the conversion...Pretty happy with TW so far. Had a lot of bad experiences with them when I lived in Kent, but I think that is because they dealt with a lot of college students (including me)...I have the 24.99 package, works great and I didn't see much drop in speed from the 39.00 package. Overall pretty happy so far...

Cleveland: Can Cleve Do A Building Material Reuse Center?
There are already a couple little places like this CLE/NE Ohio (2 in OB)...Off the top of my head I cannot remember their names, but they sell moldings and other period dated materials out of houses for the sole purpose of rehabbing. There is also a place off of w150/71 that will sharpen custom router bits to reproduce moldings and have a large selection of pre 60's moldings to buy (which is generally the best way to go because of all the lead based paint in most older moldings). As soon as I remember the names I'll post it...

Cleveland Eateries: A Where To Guide for Visitors and Residents
Does anyone have any personal experiences (and I am sure you all do) they would like to share about Lola or Vivo? Heard 3rd person reviews of Vivo, which have all been good. Though the reviews online I have read about Lola weren't very encouraging...Am I better off going to the former Tremont location?

Cleveland: Steelyard Commons
I wouldn't say missing out, You have Rays MTB in OB and I "believe" that it is spurring other such projects around it. Haven't been there yet, but a bunch of co-works for NR go there all the time and say it's a blast...Not to misdirect the thread, but has anyone been there? http://www.raysmtb.com/ As far as SYC, as being a FAR west side resident, It will be nice to spend my money at SYC instead of Ridge Park Square. I'll bet 80% of OB residents will say the same...

Cleveland: A Christmas Story Museum
I believe that house 3 doors down is a foreclosure that has been sitting for some time. I thought I saw a property warning sign sometime in the summer. I vaguely remember doing a couple of houses on that street last year, they are worse on the inside then the out. I was there yesterday with my dad. He drove in from Pittsburgh just to see the house. It was closed, but we sat outside for a while and talked to people. There had to be 20-25 people drive by, get out and take pictures and a good majority of them were out-of-towners. I do like the backdrop of the industrial valley behind the houses…very Cleveland...

Medina County
I don't want to move there because it is Brunswick...I work in NR, pretty much the same town. You have to drive 15-20 minutes to get anywhere. Pass through a MILLION aggravating lights that aren’t timed and when you get there you get to choose between Applebee’s and TGIF. Towns like that just don't do it for me. NR, for example, is a nice place to work, but that's about it. This summer during there festival or farmers market they made this big wall and told the towns people to draw whatever they thought NR represented to them on it. The only things they came up with were a stack of hay (There are no farms there anymore) and a picture of the marching band. Soul-less towns and pretty sad if you ask me. I like what I do now, work in the burbs, and live in the city. Mayday, hit it right on the head. They come in like locust, destroy the land and move on...

Medina County
I would say it has a lot to do with being relatively close to Akron and Cleveland, access to 71, and many good schools in the county. A lot of the growth is going on in Brunswick, which is building a ton of big, ugly house with an open foyer. Why wouldn’t you want half brick half sided house? I know Brunswick Hts just built like some 200 homes and they have no city tax, so a lot of people are moving there. That’s were the women wants to go and I refuse to move there.

Photograph Restoration
Ok, A little background before I get to the questions. I am restoring an old cedar chest for my girlfriend’s parents. It was her grandfathers and has been in the family since 1940. It was one of only a couple of things they kept from him, which is sad in itself. It was in terrible shape when it got to me, and I have slowly been bring it back to life this past week. Well today I started in on the drawers. Ends up an old photograph, possible the grandfather as young 0-1 year old was stuck underneath the bottom for some time. The photo isn't in bad shape, but it isn't really in good shape either. I would like to have it professional restored and framed before Christmas...Is it even possible to do? If it is does anyone know ANYWHERE I could get this done… O, I live in Cleveland, Old Brooklyn...

Cleveland Eateries: A Where To Guide for Visitors and Residents
Really, I know they were heavy with potatoes, but I guess I always think of French Fries as an American thing...Thanks for clearing that up... Service wasn't bad, as in asking if we needed anything, refills and such, they didn't really go into explaining the menu, but little places I have gone to do anymore.
