Thanks @Growth Mindset, @Willo, @Ethan, @cadmen! Hope you all will share this brainstorm of a presentation with your networks! Would love to keep the conversation going. As far as a couple decades out - I think the energy & focus are already where they need to be with some of the ideas; the WSM lots are already targeted for development in the Phase 1 & Phase 2 reports. The lift bridge freighter observation center could be a local resident & tourist attraction that generates revenue (thanks for the Tilt Observation Deck link @Willo) - especially with the increased Great Lakes cruise traffic. Looking to a Port of Cleveland & City of Cleveland partnership for this one. Developing atop any of the RTA stations might seem a stretch, but starting with one of the most trafficked RTA hubs W 25th & Lorain could be possible sooner than later. Thinking about the possibility of finding a chain hotelier that is attracted to direct airport access and visitors that are attracted to having a hotel directly above their stop! END RANT 🤣 😂

It'd be awesome to have a dense development here with some cozy pedestrian only streets! Thought I’d share a speculative passion project that I’ve been working on for a while now, since it pertains to the discussion. (link to animation below) I plan to give a public presentation on this and a few other speculative projects in the near future. If that interests anyone then I can provide a date when it’s determined. Would enjoy y’all’s thoughts! These designs are by no means “the answer” - only initial ideas. I am, and have been, sharing these ideas to start a conversation about the potential of the WSM parking lots, W 25th Station, and other nearby properties in a visual format. Attached is an image of a map I put together that identifies surface lots in the district and the number of parking stalls in each. Some intentions of the design ideas: Activate the W 25th Red Line Station with a built structure instead of the typical stand alone island station and provide (2) headhouses. One where’s currently. The other would connect to a public plaza where the WSM parking lots are currently. Clean up the Gehring & Lorain intersection that’s currently completely f**ked with the WSM parking lot gates on heavily attended days. A 3-4 story parking garage could be provided in each new structure that would occupy where the lots are currently. The current WSM parking lots contain a total ~600 parking stalls. Continue W 22nd back to W 24th Connect the market district to Irishtown Bend from W 22nd on a City owned parcel. (Love sitting on the guardrail at that overlook.) Extend Market Ave from the market parking lots to W 28th St by opening the NE corner of the produce pavilion and activating the alley between the market and market pavilion. Activate the OCI owned lots next to GLBC along W 26th with park & multi-family structure

Seeing this proposal has me wondering if there is a way the city could intervene and take back pieces of parcels to establish right-of-ways to provide some order to avoid what seems may end up being an endless sea of parking -- each parcel of land an island unto itself with no cohesive urban fabric (like the aspirational renderings). This seems suburban and gives prominence to cars (surface parking and no garages) and river views (for the townhomes) - that may very well not remain with new development in front of them. It's only one image but seems there may be issues to be concerned with. From this image, there seems to be no forethought about what will neighbor the site and how it will only be a part of surrounding context; it seems some rules should be in place with local policy with a large swath of land being so tabula rasa and ripe for a strong development. I'm seeking input. Could the city take some charge here?

@Mendo @nammoumj contacted me the first time I posted the map a few months back but I never saw a response. Willing to combine efforts. The use of pins to indicate phase of design/construction/completion is better organized than mine which is by neighborhood. At this point it is probably only worth referencing mine for links/details and adding whatever missing projects using nammoumj's map.
