Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
Considering that the birth rate for the US is well below replacement rate, the real growth is from migration. Maybe Bibb should declare Cleveland a sanctuary city so Governor Abbott will ship a couple hundred thousand to Cleveland.

Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach: Developments and News
I’m sure these finance bros will stick around to help Florida when the costs of mitigating sea level rise come due.

Cleveland: Hotels, Conventions, and Tourism News & Info
Not sure which thread my question belong in, so let me know if this belongs somewhere else. Does anyone know of any Cleveland specific events schedule for the 4/8/24 eclipse? I was thinking of driving up from Columbus and wondered whether anything special was planned on Public Square, Edgewater or University Circle.

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
So, 200 Public Square becomes Dollar General Tower then?

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
It seems that people living downtown will have the real advantage. They can work for employers downtown or easily commute to any suburb. By contrast, suburbanites are more isolated to their side of town. Crossing from east to west or vice versa would mean crossing the whole metro.

Came across this editorial regarding this topic. Thought I’d share. P.S. a passenger rail link from Cincinnati to Atlanta would be awesome

State of Ohio puts up $400M for Flying Taxis
Why am I not convinced this is a good investment? This reeks of desperation and reminds me of Lordstown Motors.

Cleveland: Wind Turbine Construction News
I feel like misinformation is running rampant these day and there needs to be a way to hold liars accountable. The voting machine lawsuits should be a template. Isn’t killing a whale a crime? If so, falsely accusing someone of killing a whale should also be a crime.

The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
Numbeo is a site that ranks countries and cities based on quality of life and cost of living. Columbus has always ranked highly even globally. Recently, Cleveland has popped up the rankings based on excellent healthcare and local purchasing power. https://www.numbeo.com/quality-of-life/compare_cities.jsp?country1=United+States&country2=United+States&city1=Cleveland%2C+OH&city2=Columbus%2C+OH&tracking=getDispatchComparison

Gentle Density
Totally agree that moderate density with mixed uses should be the ideal. I’ll probably get shot, but I prefer this to the desire for tall towers. It’s one of the reasons most of the world seems so much better designed than the US.

Electric Cars
Based on reviews of their cars, I’d short that stock. They are not ready for prime time

Cleveland: Cleveland-Cliffs
Is it also possible Cliffs would rename the new combined organization and move into USS’s HQ in Pittsburgh? Don’t they have a trophy building there?

Columbus: Hotels, Conventions and Tourism News & Info
Something seems off with these numbers. NYC is the most visited US city and they report just 10 million. Columbus is nice but not 5x NYC nice. What am I missing? https://www.worldatlas.com/cities/america-s-10-most-visited-cities.html

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
I really think that Cleveland’s head start converting office to residential really saved it. I keep seeing videos a deserted downtown San Francisco that was too office dependent when the pandemic hit. Now those areas are largely abandoned and may not be too attractive for conversion.

Cleveland: Random Development and News
Something I don’t think people consider about work from home is that it is much easier to eliminate positions when you hardly know the people in the jobs. Sometimes it is the personal relationships that save your ass during a restructuring

Ohio LGBTQ+ News
I was thinking we should get female allies to dress as if they were drag queens. It would really confuse things and make a mockery of these stupid laws.
