  4. ^^^I actually think the every third could work. Not if they do one year in Cleveland and two in NYC. I think it could really work well in the do one year in Cleveland, one in NYC and one in a rotating city throughout the country and the world. I think that would do wonders to both spread the consciousness of the rock hall and recognize the truly transcendent nature of music. LA, London, Tokyo, Memphis, Seattle, Sydney and many others...each can stake their claim on influencing rock and, in a larger sense, popular music. With a rotating venue every third year, I think interest in the institution and visiting the hall could really be peaked.

While in Budapest, by all means go to the Kerepesi Cemetery. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kerepesi_Cemetery It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. It might be a little morbid, but don't let that dissuade you. The sculpture in there is really stunning and there's something emotionally engrossing about walking through the final resting places of the Communist party faithful (and probably a few dissenters among the ranks as well). It's been seven years since I've been there and it's still left an impression on me. Budapest is a great city to wander around in (either by foot or by train). It reminded me a lot of Prague, but less medieval and more in the footprint of post-WWII cold war reconstruction. Just remember, this is what downtown Cleveland will look like after Bob Stark is done with it. I'd buy my rail pass here. I don't know of any price difference between buying here or there, but it's one less thing to worry about getting once you're there. I've never flown between cities in Europe, so I can't speak to that, but I understand prices are very reasonable, compared to the US I haven't been to any of the other cities on your list (yet) so I'll leave that to others to advise you. Hope you don't get jinxed and make it over!

  16. In a way, I really like going though Midway. Every time I've successfully made it to the train from the terminal, with the ridiculous amount of twists and turns and poor directional signs, I feel like I've accomplished something! :-D

Here's the different colors you wanted to see and a brighter green for the bottom logo. I hope you don't turn away from red and blue solely because of the political implications they may hold. It's a classic color combination that's tough to go wrong with, IMO.

  23. I guess it's more a general perception thing. I've spent only a few days there and never really noticed anything weird. As a straight white guy, I'm probably more oblivious to the tension than if I were black/African-American or Asian or Hispanic etc. or of mixed race or Gay or Bi.
  24. Damn! Shocked he's getting flack about that in SF of all places! Guess prejudiced people make it everywhere, even to the uber-accepting San Fran.

A little more than a year ago, a friend of mine invited me to a rock show in Tyler just to the left of the bridge on the third level. It was an incredibly cool evening and would be perfect for a live venue. A bunch of drunken, screaming 16 to 22 year olds with really loud music. Something kind of timeless about that, even if the music sucks (which it didn't). BTW, I got that "Christ, I'm getting old!" feeling as I left the teenagers to their rock and roll music
