  1. Inject it into my veins! Also, 200’ seems a bit much for a 125’ building, no? Some of the OSU cranes are also significantly taller than the buildings they’re constructing. Is it because of the larger footprint of the building? I’ve seen many other high rises use cranes that are hardly taller than the roof of the building.
  2. Not sure how I feel about ordering a food item called “The Deuce”...
  3. That should’ve been blindingly obvious to me haha. That’s exciting, for some reason I assumed it was some sort of boring utility thing.
  4. Isn’t there already something under construction on this parcel? Or am I mixing up my intersections?
  5. I begrudgingly agree that not all proposals should have ground retail. I do wish there was a push from the city to encourage (or force) developers to building parking podiums that could be converted to future office/retail/residential space, like the Italian Village apts/garage.
  6. Per that article, they’ve conducted 85 public meetings about this, which seems preposterously high to me.
  7. Please please please let them save the bank or incorporate the facade someway into the new development.
  8. Also great to hear that they’re preserving and restoring the historic buildings. And honestly if this stays at 10 stories, I’ll be happy. I assume with most projects facing predictable height/density concerns that the developer knows they’re going to receive pushback, so they initially propose something higher than they want to build, then “compromise” to their original target.
  9. We got pretty close with Miranova (96M in 2001). That was still 18 years ago though... OSU’s James is also close (90.5), but not anywhere near downtown either. I do think we’re in the midst of a transition in height, and slowly but surely the 4-7 story proposed buildings downtown are going disappear in lieu of 8-12+, which is tremendously exciting.
  10. They should fill all of Graceland with apartments. You can walk to so much stuff without even leaving the mall area. The parking lots are usually empty save for Kroger and Target, so there’s definitely underutilized space.
  11. Yup! A place to store materials, equipment, and anything else they might need.
  12. There’s so much room on that piece of land, they should have no trouble adding one or two buildings while still keeping the warehouse building. I wonder if they could connect the southern half of the property to State so something could front that street?
  13. I’m pretty sure that overall square footage (and thus DENSITY) has increased from the 35 floor design. If so, then there’s really no honest way to argue the new design is less urban than the old design, which is ultimately more important than height....
  14. The new design looks like it’ll provide a better pedestrian experience, which is a thousand times more impactful on creating an enjoyable, walkable urban area than the height of the building. Obviously I’d rather have this design be 35 stories instead of 26(28?), but the new design is still superior for all purposes of actually interacting with the building.
  15. That’s just like, your opinion, man.
  16. Graceland should be full of residential. There’s a lot of wasted space and good amenities, both the Kroger and Target there have been (or are currently being) remodeled.
  17. The golden bear development got me curious about the Arlington Gateway, they expect a Q1 2020 groundbreaking (https://www.thisweeknews.com/news/20190507/arlington-gateway-access-revisions-expected).
  18. The glass on these buildings looks sublime, especially at dawn/dusk.
  19. Hotels take a longer time to build because there’s a lot more plumbing etc. compared to office space or even residential. Construction might also be slowed a bit as they have to work around the existing buildings on site.
  20. According to a commenter on CU, they eventually want to put BRT (or at least COTA’s version of faux BRT), so that’s why they aren’t doing protected bike lanes, or really anything at all to actually make the road smaller.
  21. At least the new under-construction additions to Easton are a lot denser than the rest of Easton. Hopefully they continue trending in that direction.
  22. I agree with you. I’ve seen projects die before, and there’s usually a lot more radio silence than we’ve been getting with this tower. If we don’t have a more definitely timeline later this year, then I’ll change my tune, but for now I’m not worried (just impatient).
