Rubber City Revisited
I agree, when I visited Akron, that antenna gave that tower a certain charm. It could be seen from all directions.

Rubber City Revisited
Akron has nice bones. Another great mid-size Midwest cities that is very underrated.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Nice pictures of an emerging downtown Cleveland. But one familiar characteristic of most post-pandemic cities downtowns is, where are the people?

- Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
Because Ashtabula doesn't have a city of almost 200,000 within it's county, having it's own suburbs.- Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
Thank you, I really want to see the numbers on the MSA, The CSA'S are meaningless but the Metro counts are very important, especially for my business.- Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
Where are you getting these figures from, I am not seeing these reports in any publications. The CSA list a Cleveland-Akron-Canton grouping on Wikipedia, but no numbers on new MSA or CSA population's, Where is this official listing.- Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
But not the metro area, Youngstown is larger. But I still do not see where this is some new CMSA area including Youngstown -Warren, it is a paylist..whatever that is.- Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists

Yes, Chicago is still one of the great world class cities of America, warts and all. I travel all over this country and I tell you Chicago's synergy is mostly unequaled. World class museums, bustling downtown tourism, Lakefront/ Navy Pier / River Walk, World class architecture, wonderful beaches for an inland city, and unique neighborhoods with good food/restaurants. Not to mention two great airports. And I would say, like any other city, Chicago has problems, but it is still one of Americas great cities..- Rust Belt Revival Ideas, Predictions & Articles
Only to find the same, and new types of problems in the cities they moved to. What is not discussed is that many of the blacks that left Chicago never sold their Chicago properties, enabling them to make an easy reversal back home, as some are beginning to do. Many are calling their relatives complaining about these southern cities with their lack of amenities, synergy, and having the same levels of crime that they thought they escaped from. Meanwhile Whites, Hispanics, and Asians are moving into the city in large numbers. The old adage is true, the grass looks greener on the other side, but when you get over there, you still have to cut it!- Ohio: Fortune 500 Companies Updates & Discussion
Very surprised that Timken is not a fortune 500 company. Of course, I left Ohio 20 yrs. ago, so I may not be that informed on Timken's present status.- Columbus: Population Trends
The Census Bureau is famous for having erroneous estimates. They estimated New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago all to have lost large numbers of population during the 2010 to 2020 period, only to find out they all gained notable amounts of population during the same period with the official 2020 census. I would take much of this with a grain of salt, for the complexities of the largest cities you need to go door to door.- Akron: Downtown: Development and News
What I would like to see is the city go after Myers Industries which had planned to move their headquarters to Cuyahoga county before reversing their decision and remaining in an outgrown South Akron location. They would be a nice replacement for some of the First Energy vacated space.- Akron: Random Development and News
What is bothering me about most of the Mayoral candidates is they all seem to be leaning toward the Nimby mindset. That is to limit new developments to intercity areas of Akron. I think the city should build citywide, just like Columbus, many younger people want to live in urban and mixed -use developments near Merriman valley and the White Pond development areas.- State of Ohio Hates Its Big Cities
I agree, along with the fact that most Ohio cities are losing population, and at the same time nimbyism in Ohio is at an all time high. Young people desire vibrant urban amenities, new housing throughout the city. But what you have is people that want more tree's, and to keep new housing and mixed-use developments confined to old inner city areas that young people desire to depart from. Akron being a classic case, no wonder the Mayor is not seeking another term, and young people are fleeing to pro-growth cities like Nashville, Columbus, Dallas and others.- Northeast Ohio: Regionalism News & Discussion
True, but with the Census Bureau now highlighting Urban areas and less so MSA and CMSA, the connection with other Metro's is even less accepted. This is truly the case with Cleveland and Akron being even less connected under the Urban area designation because of the CVNP, and the Ohio Turnpike, and less contiguous cities with dense populations. But this also gives Cleveland a small advantage over Columbus and Cincinnati.- Northeast Ohio: Regionalism News & Discussion
Problem is no one recognizes a so-called Cleveland CSA, as it includes other Metro's. Meanwhile Columbus and Cincinnati Metros continue to grow much faster and putting distance between themselves and the Cleveland MSA . Cleveland now being the third largest Metro in the state.- Ohio Intercity Rail (3C+D Line, etc)
Without an Akron/Canton/Youngstown/Wooster access,3C&D is just another alternative to I- 71. And an inferior alternative at that. A region with more than 1.7 million people and no Amtrak access. No wonder there is little enthusiasm in that particular area, that many people cannot be ignored, and rail service be effective.- Louisville - December 2020
I live in Chicago and yes there is some streets with little traffic during winter months, but you could say that about many cities including New York. But there is traffic throughout the downtown area from North Beach to the Museum district for the most part throughout the year. But many of the cities with photos on this forum seem void of pedestrians even in what appears to be non- winter months.- Louisville - December 2020
Are there any cities outside of New York, Chicago, and San Francisco where people are actively present on the downtown streets? Absent pedestrians, Louisville has a lot of great architecture.- Buffalo - October 2020 (Part 1 of 2) - Allentown and Downtown
Impressive downtown streetscape, but the question for Buffalo and most American cities is, where have all the people gone? - Ohio Census / Population Trends & Lists
