Obviously this is better than what we got, but with only 1 highway running close to downtown, there would be stroads throughout Queensgate getting over to downtown, so I don't think the makeup of that area would be much different. And I imagine, Reading-Eggleston would be even more of a moat with no I-471 bridge.
  2. Honestly, it's a good thing, the decline of single-use commercial will hit everywhere in the US at some point. That tract of land is so valuable, it won't sit vacant for long, I imagine they'd run it back as an Easton Town Center type development. Hell, if Colerain is talking about doing that to their mall, Sycamore Township surely can get the investors to dump cash into a project like that.
  3. Well, presumably, the CFPB will still be keeping tabs on solvency now that a funcitonal administration will be in office. Banks don't like investing in condo/townhome developments at the rates they like investing in apartments. I was just stating that hopefully that evens out a little bit and we can get denser, more affordable, and have home-ownership rates improving in these denser areas.
  4. Maybe for a year or two. If this does indeed happen, I'd hope the stingy banks would start opening their wallets for more speculative housing developments with a marketplace flooded with consumers.
  5. Agreed. The Colerain, Hamilton, Winton, and Reading corridors and everything in between are likely landing spots for these people, outside of city limits. The Reading BRT will be a benefit that mostly affects the low income neighborhoods along that corridor as well.

    While that is definitely what Cranley would do, this is how this argument MUST be framed. Republicans win on messaging, why can't the Democrats play the same game? In fact, it would have been even better for Cranley to say that this bill "Defunds the Police"

    I trust that some Rs have come around on this, including Dewine if he's gifted 90%+ of the cost. ODOT received overwhelming support for rail in their latest round of community feedback, I'd certainly hope that isn't ignored if there's wads of cash being offered for rail.
  8. I don't think this is the reason, otherwise Charmaine would not have won either. Deters is a staple in Cincinnati politics, he's the one candidate that the Ham Co Republican party put all of their resources behind to defend, and they were able to squeak it out.

  10. An odd takeaway that I noticed in the results: The Hamilton Co judge results were completely random. Some Democrats won, some Republicans won, with no real rhyme or reason.

    Yeah I was nervously checking the Hurricane Zeta forecasts almost hourly in the days before we got rain. I'd like to not have to do that in the Spring.

    Nice, thanks for the tips. I'm in Cinci as well. My backyard is at the bottom of a small incline, so my neighbors' water flows down into my yard.

    This is great. Our basement flooded from a sewer backup in May when we got dumped on. The sump at the same time was mere inches from overflowing, but never actually did. I had a landscaper come out and I talked him through some standing water/french drain and rain garden solutions... the price: $10k+ all in. Guess I'm doing the rain garden and other work sometime on a warm winter weekend. How intensive was making a rain garden?

    It looks like Xavier left space between their parking lots directly across from WW for a mixed use path, so I think the path through there is pretty obvious. They'll want to carefully plan the bike path though, as it may cut a chunk of land for a future building in two, unless they have the building create a little tunnel on the first floor where the path will go. I don't know the Listermann people, but I would hope they see this bike path running right past their front door as a net positive if they need to cut parking spots.
  16. So he will veto, it will have fares in November, and then be fare-free permanently after that. I would be astounded if anything other than that happened next week.
  17. I would presume that a program to help low-income people enter homeownership would involve lowering that down-payment barrier if not completely removing it.
  18. I wouldn't have vetoed it, but Cranley was right that these types of projects should be promoting homeownership, not increasing the renter population. But LPH is in dire need of any positive movement, so this is good. Eventually, it will be looked at by investors and when that time comes, the home ownership route should be taken on projects like this. Hopefully once the Ohio River West trail is in one piece, they can get Price Landing going and the neighborhood will pop up on some radars.

  20. Charlie Winburn will win Treasurer, I'll stake a lot of money on that. Based on signs from around the county, he will have a decent chunk (if not the majority) of black support. His signs are next to Biden signs more ofter than Jill Schiller's are.
  21. Jim Neil was fine, but he should know that showing your face at a Trump rally will get you booted from the party. Also, I want someone who won't lick the FOPs boots. I wholeheartedly agree that she's not a top notch sheriff candidate, maybe and hopefully she gets primaried by a regular Dem if things go poorly these next 4 years.
  22. Don't worry, with the next generation of cars, they'll build in some planned obsolescence and get that number closer to 6-8 years. Dealerships are going to fold left and right if that avg age creeps up much more.
  23. Good to see a parking lot get built on as well. Seems like the phase 2 building will have built-in parking, but better than an empty lot.

  25. Pastor on Linn St Road Diet Study I'm curious everyone's thoughts on the future potential of Linn St. I did a Google Maps drive down the entirety of the road... Yes it is an ugly mess right now, but depending on how the road diet goes (if it happens) this could be an incredibly desirable street to redevelop as a "Main Street." At least the portions by Millionaires' Row and just south of Liberty near City West and the FCC Stadium. I by no means think this is a near-term thing, but for developers looking to get in on the ground floor, this seems like the next logical place to invest. Development here will obviously be met with contention if (best-case) Linn St starts turning into a Wrigleyville-type destination full of upper-middle class yuppies, but if Linn becomes walkable/bikeable and the West End starts heating up, I would think Linn is the next best place to invest and build denser mixed-use along the street.
