I don't know, seems like Big Ferry is in the pocket of ODOT, so they may shut this down before it gets too far.
  2. As has been the case for years, there are 2 major takeaways: 1. All hail the suburbs 2. US Citizens do not want to live here, international immigration is imperative to our growth.
  3. 2018's estimates are now officially out Hamilton County: .2% Growth Franklin County: 1.1% Cuyahoga County: -.4%
  4. Is Lot 28 going to be private property? Also, when are we getting a Banks DORA? With the stadiums and Freedom Way, it is a prime location for one. Is it that they don't want these people spilling over into the riverfront parks with their bottles and cans and trashing the place?
  5. Also, Rhinegeist is a marketing company that does beer on the side. The quality of the beer is only half (if that) of the equation. You create a cool enough space and average beer, it will bring all of us in the Instagram generation out to make sure everyone on the internet knew we were there and having fun!
  6. 4 driving lanes is worse than having an odd number. There are so many cross-streets that a center turn lane is a must-have on Liberty.
  7. I bet if Hilltop moves, the already long-shot Price Hill Landing Park gets nixed for the new Hilltop site. According to the article, they want land in Lower Price Hill, and it seems like the only viable Lower Price Hill land available on the river would be the PHL site. What an FU that would be to the neighborhood. Right after 'officially' adopting their master plan.
  8. The garage is already complete. The remaining lots (1, 13, 24, 25) are hopefully going to be dense developments. In order to get the Bengals to sign on, they agreed to buy the Hilltop Concrete lot to the southwest of PBS and build out a tailgating area there.
  9. I too like convenience, but I don't trust humans enough to not make them dock these when they're done with them. The sidewalks can already be a mess with the scooters. I'd personally prefer we craft legislation making the scooter companies designate zones for parking those, instead of having the Bikeshare system go backwards to meet the scooter companies. Heck, redbike should also get into the scooter business, but with docks.
  10. Which is why I think they chose Reading and Glenway. That stretch of Reading specifically does not include any wealthy neighborhoods and is the most popular bus route in the city. It would be the ideal pilot BRT route. At the least, the ridership numbers would be large enough to (hopefully) keep The Enquirer of its back. The next ones would be Hamilton Ave (I could see some of the newer, richer Northside and College Hill residents objecting) and Montgomery Rd (Definitely will be issues if it goes past Silverton)
  11. We just need to make sure we hold Metro to the attributes they laid out on their blurb about BRT. As a quick overview of the potential Reading Rd line: MidPointe to Roselawn business district- no need for bus lanes, not many intersections and doesn't get backed up. Roselawn to the lateral- should re-stripe for 3 lane design. Bus lanes, if they fit. if not, at least get a separated bus stop Lateral to Sherman- Bus lanes Sherman to Paddock- Not many intersections, traffic doesn't get bad until Paddock, no change. Paddock all the way to McMillan- Bus lanes needed, already have viable with road width. This is the most important stretch, top priority. McMillan to Dorchester- no change Dorchester to Main- Bus lanes all the way (already have bus lanes on main)
  12. Oh god, this tax is going to divide the electorate and fail if that .7 and .3 idea is really the prevailing thought. If this idea gets more teeth I'll be contacting everyone involved and letting them know the mistake that it is. I trust the BBC though, I think they have enough leverage to move this to .8 or .9, hopefully this is the starting point that the business community came up with, and not the end number.
  13. I imagine that will come if we get BRT on Reading Rd, there should be nice stations and bus lanes going in that area. Problem is, I see some major pushback coming from DOTE with I-71 being so close. Have to make sure there's enough left turn lanes for cars.
  14. I'm sure they will. This project is fifth and final phase of the "Suburban Office Park Heritage Trail" along the I-71 corridor. They're hoping to bring in tourists from not only the Midwest, but from across the globe!
  15. Why fix anything up for the chance at a big payday when you have money coming in for doing 0 work? Chances are they have a 3rd party handle the tenants and completely ignore the rest. The city doesn't do enough to enforce property upkeep and why be the first in the area? One rehabbed apartment won't fix the crime issues. 3CDC, continued development of the Brewery Heritage Trail/District or a major development would need to go in there first.
  16. Looks like the meeting is just about service time alternatives, but still there are options to get headways down. If you can't make it, please fill out the survey. https://www.wvxu.org/post/how-weigh-possible-streetcar-changes
  17. Business leaders are on board, Republicans are on board and... COAST is on board!?! Can SORTA please take the open lane to the basket and slam it home? This isn't that hard folks. Knowing the level of support, they better ask for the full 1 cent raise and get BRT implemented on those 2 routes.
  18. Looks like there's a public meeting to discuss what can be done to make the streetcar more reliable. Hmmm, I wonder... Let's try and get some people there to voice support for the easy fixes!
  19. I assume he's trying to appease the 'no new taxes' people, trying to time it with the museum tax falling off. What he isn't seeing is that those people will exist whether you put a .25 on the ballot or a 1.00. If they want to win at the ballot box, they need to get a grand plan together and sell it. Telling us that we have to pay more just to keep things running just makes most people mad that they can't balance a budget, or people like us apathetic. I was browsing the Indianapolis metro's website today for fun and was incredibly jealous that we can't even keep up with them in regards to transit. https://www.indygo.net/brt/
  20. I'm not calling it a win until council approves it with a 6 vote super-majority. Cranley will do all he can to stop it.
  21. This huge piece of news fell under the radar. According to WCPO, the Crosley building renovation is back on and a contractor has been secured... https://www.wcpo.com/news/local-news/hamilton-county/cincinnati/camp-washington/redevelopment-coming-to-camp-washington
  22. Yeah, it is going to have to be different than Northside when it comes to residential. There is not a large amount of in-tact single-family homes, or the space for them. There will need to be dense residential, like the US Chili project or Crosley,. There's examples all over the neighborhood, but any of the vacant warehouses could be turned into lofts once the demand is there: https://goo.gl/maps/2JtWb8uJQ5J2 https://goo.gl/maps/GdEHgJkz6fq The #1 priority (outside of Crosley) should be this location, which is a vacant industrial space across from a nice park: https://goo.gl/maps/P4cHJ5KrMPQ2 Or lots ready for your run-of-the-mill infill mixed-use blocks: https://goo.gl/maps/p1twY8Hh5qC2 https://goo.gl/maps/93Pq4JkoMs12

The Ohio statehouse reporter for WVXU (Cinci) said that the senate is expected to reduce the transit budget even though it hasn't been done yet... Not looking good.
  24. Yeah the tech bros will squash future light rail for sure, and the public at-large will eat that up. The "Why do we need to spend millions on trains, when self-driving cars can take us wherever we want?" narrative will take hold once these are more of a reality. All the while ignoring the fact that road construction/maintenance vastly out-spends of light rail transit. Not to mention the ability to move massive amounts of people within a small amount of space. Populations will only get larger, and automated vehicles don't solve congestion issues, we'd have to continually widen highways to account for continually growing population #'s and subsequently, increasing # of space-inefficient cars. At this point, I'll take BRT and highway bus lanes as well. I don't want to have to drive to get downtown, I don't want to be on a bus for 50 minutes to get there, and I'm sure as hell not paying $30 to Uber there. EDIT: oh, and snow/inclement weather is a whole 'nother issue.
  25. When I'm with my friends, I just buy all the tickets on the EZ Ride app, and have them buy me a beer or something later. It just isn't worth having 4+ people each separately buy a $2 ticket that takes 3 minutes to receive. The number of times I've seen someone or a family (usually suburban) genuinely wanting to try this thing, but then the ticket machine doesn't work and they are aggravated and miss the streetcar is too damn high! Those are people who's opinions are now permanently tainted, and more susceptible to the "wasted money" mantra.
