  1. Yeah, it's definitely disappointing, but the 3CDC parking lot on the former Kroger site is always full on the weekends and sometimes even on weeknights now. They will make some good money on parking fees until they come up with the funding to actually build a mixed use building. It's a huge parcel, so hopefully we can get something with good density in there eventually.
  2. Urban Sites is turning the entire plot of land into a parking lot. I think they are doing some sewer and water line replacements first before it gets paved.
  3. Is there any connection to the Galla Park at The Banks in Cincinnati? Because they just got shut down for being a nuisance property by the city of Cincinnati and the holding company filed for bankruptcy.
  4. If there were no other lots available for development, I'd agree with you that Grant Park would be the best candidate for development. But there are 4 surface parking lots along Liberty between Central and Sycamore. Dozens of abandoned buildings north of Liberty. Multiple open plots of land too. Why get rid of park space now when there are tons of better candidates for investment first? A park is an asset to build around and can spur residential development that will better utilize the green space.
  5. I disagree as well. We should be increasing tree cover in the neighborhood and renovating these existing parks is a good place to start. There are plenty of other open areas or surface parking lots that are not parkland that could be developed first.
  6. Has 3CDC publicly released any of the renovation plans yet?
  7. The city of Cincinnati has declared other gas stations as a public nuisance as recently as last summer, to the point of shutting them down completely. https://www.wlwt.com/article/police-shut-down-cincinnati-mobil-gas-station-over-chronic-nuisance-activities/32982833# I'm interested to know what steps have been taken against the Shell station, from a legal standpoint. I'm sure the District 1 police are sick of of responding to this location as well. Is there something preventing the city from shutting it down, especially if it is a blight on the surrounding area, which is trying to improve?
  8. I would rather run out of gas and call AAA for a tow than give that Shell a dime of my money. And I might make more than the median income of OTR, but I'm not wealthy.
  9. I live on E 15th, between Vine and Walnut. Almost completely surrounded by the Wilkommen renovations. Something absolutely needs to be done about "Club Shell." The amount of drug deals, assaults, and robberies that take place between the Shell station and Grant Park is insane. Since there is so much extra pavement in the Shell Station property, cars just park there for hours and blast music all night. I hope 3CDC understands how hard it will be to rent out the newly renovated buildings that face Liberty if nothing is done about the nuisance. I'm convinced that the Shell is one of the main reasons why OTR north of Liberty isn't booming like it should be.
  10. Overall activity in OTR has been up in the past few weeks as the weather has gotten a bit warmer. Add that in to more people being vaccinated, FC Cincinnati and Reds games starting soon, and other outdoor events in Washington Park, etc. The streetcar will be breaking ridership records in no time.
  11. This project will be huge in starting to fill in the gaps along Main Street. Hamilton should build up the entire stretch from the river to Eaton with some 4-5 story mixed use buildings. There are several vacant non-historic 1/2 story buildings with curb cuts that could be eventually demolished to improve the walkability of Main Street as well.
  12. Even the city doesn't consider Main Street the dividing line. There are OTR residential parking pass spots on several of the side streets east of Main.
  13. Going forward, I imagine that there will be enough demand for restaurants and bars through that whole stretch. There are hundreds of housing units that are going to come online during the next 2-3 years within 3 blocks of Vine, on both sides of Liberty. OTR's population is going to increase substantially, providing a good residential base during the week that will be supplemented by visitors from the rest of the city/metro area. Plus, there have already been a few restaurant-to-retail storefront conversions along Vine this year. I could see more of that occurring as the renovated buildings provide newer spaces for restaurants.
  14. Perseverance is 100% affordable housing, it is a collaboration with OTRCH. Wilkommen is a mix of afforable and market rate units.
  15. No, the new builds and renovations along Vine north of 15th are all the Perseverance project. Wilkommen is renovating buildings on 15th centered around Moore. EDIT: Apparently I am wrong, having just fact checked myself on 3CDC's website. Everything up to 1517 Vine is Perseverance. 1521 Vine is part of Wilkommen.
  16. So from what I've read from articles back when the law was first passed, a city of Cincinnati's population size is only allowed to designate 2 DORA districts. However, there were three neighborhoods that were all front runners for getting a DORA: The Banks, OTR, and Northside. Since one of them was going to lose out and inevitably get mad about it, the city just decided not to implement them at all.
  17. No, Toledo and Hamilton have both had their DORA zones up and running for a couple years now. I believe there are a couple of other cities with them as well, just escaping me off the top of my head.
  18. Tracy Jordan will be elated at this news. But seriously, what is it with all of these old politicians wanting to be mayor of our major cities? Kucinich in Cleveland, David Mann and Wendell Young in Cincinnati. Retire in peace and let the next generations step up.
  19. The Eastgate store is closing too. I know someone who used to work at that location and was told they are closing after Christmas. H&M is really struggling right now.
  20. Sittenfeld getting arrested blows the mayoral race wide open. Going to be really interesting to see who jumps into the race now.
  21. https://www.wcpo.com/news/transportation-development/public-transit/cincinnati-city-council-will-hear-public-comment-on-making-the-streetcar-fare-free-for-good According to WCPO, the streetcar will be free permanently. The free rides were supposed to end on Saturday, but apparently the permanent funding was found. I'm shocked that Cranley isn't throwing a fit about it.
  22. I live in OTR in Cincinnati. I've had 3 different Census people try to get resident info for a non-existent unit in my apartment building (2 one bedrooms got combined into a 2 bedroom, so it doesn't exist anymore). They are out here working hard, I know some inner city neighborhoods are really hard to canvass. If they don't get a good response rate, it won't be for lack of trying or follow-up.

Interestingly, this move will make P&G the longest tenured company on the Dow. It's been listed there since 1932!
  24. I think 3CDC is just slow on updating their website. On 15th between Vine and Walnut, they have started renovating 3 empty buildings in the last month just on that block. The buildings have had inspectors in there and there are building permits posted on the temporary wooden doors. Also, construction workers' vehicles have been showing up on that block this week.
