Ohio: General Business & Economic News
The thing about Ohio swinging so hard to the right is that.....we're not alone. I was actually pretty bummed at the state of everything in this state prior to the election, but then once I realized that nearly every single county of every single state swung hard to the right, I realized it's a problem with America and not just Ohio. Also, clustering to the same 5-6 cities/states in the country is a big factor with the state of the electoral college. Everything is so grim.

Columbus LinkUS BRT
Is this the right place for this? I kinda wish the transportation forum wasn't so....hidden? Idk I always want to talk transit and forget to come here, lol. One of the few good bits of news from yesterday: LinkUS levy passed! https://www.axios.com/local/columbus/2024/11/06/ohio-linkus-plan-election-results-pass

New Albany: Ohio One (Intel Semiconductor Facility)
Haven't really been following this lately, but is this project still full steam ahead despite Intel's awful news with their 13th and 14th gen CPUs failing and needing to layoff ~15,000 employees globally? I was really worried about how this factory would be effected.

Columbus: Zoning Discussion
Omg it passed?! I tuned out for a while. This seems great!!! Was it severely gutted or did it pass more-or-less as originally envisioned??? YouTube from NBC4

Columbus: Downtown: The Madison / 100 North High
Maaaan I wanna live here, too. I just don't know if I'm at a point in my life where I can rent though, and I think ownership is where I should be. I want this but as a condo!

Columbus: Downtown: Merchant Building
I've been out of the loop and didn't even realize the North Market Tower had a new name. I was reading a CU article from 2022 on it and it seems like it will have 174 residences. Are these going to be condos, apartments, or both? Can't believe how long this has been going on, lol.

Ohio LGBTQ+ News
I hope families of trans youth can safely move to a state that doesn't want to kill their children or let them exist peacefully. I feel bad for families without the means or ability to move. This sucks and it's a dark day for Ohio.

Canton-Massillon: Random Development and News
It's now up to 4 buildings total. I don't know what the 4th building is. News article here. Considering I live in Massillon, I should make it a point to physically see which ones they're talking about, LOL. But I honestly have no idea what the 4th one is. I have a suspicion it was the "Tiger Rags" building as that was being discussed at a different city council meeting.

Canton-Massillon: Random Development and News
Three historical buildings recently were demolished in Downtown Massillon. It's quite sad. The ones I'll be be focusing on here the two that had partially collapsed and were thus condemned and ordered to be demolished. It was quite an undertaking as the two buildings were situated between two other older historical buildings so it was a delicate procedure. The other one was--I think?--planned to be demolished and redeveloped and was not a part of the other two. I have been meaning to get pictures but I haven't been active here in a while and I just haven't thought about it. Perhaps I will this week. Here's an article about it the first two. I'll have more to share later. Whole situation to me is depressing. Although these two buildings were vacant for a long time, this was in the heart of downtown in the only few blocks remaining that make downtown what it is, honestly. Feels like Massillon is just slowly losing a lot of its historical luster. I really hope it gets redeveloped in an urban fashion and just doesn't remain vacant forever. To top it all off, they recently redid the streetscaping here and it looked exceptionally nice....then this happens, lol.

New Albany: Ohio One (Intel Semiconductor Facility)
Oh my god that's an astronomical number. And how many fabs are they planning on building?! Edit: I guess it would help if I did more reading. I see they're planning 5-6 fabs. So 40,000 x 5 is 200,000 jobs. I can't even comprehend that, lol. Edit2: I'm now curious how this affects New Albany vs. Columbus. The OP article says they want to build a "mini city" basically. I wonder how all this will shake out and where the growth will be. But if we're truly looking upwards of 200,000 jobs, I imagine it'll be statewide, basically.
