Columbus: Short North Developments and News
Zyrokai replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionMaybe they repaint the crosswalks, they'll properly mark them with striped crossings. Jk who am I kidding ? I I swear it's become my life's mission to correct this, lol

Columbus: Short North Developments and News
Zyrokai replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionInteresting, thanks! I had a hunch they were might be doing that but I wasn't sure if that was actually something that could be corrected so I thought I would ask here. Good to hear that.

Columbus: Short North Developments and News
Zyrokai replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionWhat in the actual world are they doing in the finished portion of High Street in the Short North? They're digging up all along the edges of all the sidewalks. And it's chaos during rush hour. Took these photos on the bus. They started this a few days ago and are doing it everywhere. What was wrong with the asphalt along the curbing?

Columbus: Short North Developments and News
Zyrokai replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & Construction^^^I have such mixed feelings about this because Local Bar has been one my favorites since I could even start going to bars. But I hate that it's in a strip mall like this. Also, I wonder how a redevelopment would affect Paradise Garage........ Check cashing place first, please.

^^^Yep, it really sucks. He needed an opponent to push him on some issues, even if he was assured re-election. He really seems to truly be doing bare minimum and is rewarded for it. I miss Coleman : (

Columbus: Complete Streets, Road Diets, and Traffic Calming
So I'm still planning on fixing my previous post now that I understand I need to host images first ? . Just haven't had time but I took some good ones. However, I will now settle for nothing less than this now that I know it's a thing:

Columbus: Milo-Grogan Developments and News
The Austin thing is just so out of left field. I can't think of a reason they would do that. They would have to compete with Texas Power Barbell more, wouldn't they? That's their main competition so maybe it IS smart to move into their territory. Who knows, but I'd think it'd be best to capture markets they're not already big into.

^^^Piggybacking of this.... Do you guys think Rouge will come back with some kind of a plan? I'm really bad at reading between lines sand I can't tell if they've already given up and are looking elsewhere or if they're going to try to give a plan to the city first.

Columbus: Milo-Grogan Developments and News
Let's hope that's what they're going for!

Columbus: Milo-Grogan Developments and News
After reading the article in full, it's completely ridiculous. This will 100% be the city's fault if it's lost. the setback requirement is also laughable as well as the "large volumes of pedestrians" crap. I feel like this stuff as a whole will continue to hold Columbus back unless something major happens.

Columbus: Milo-Grogan Developments and News
Wait....the CITY is the one requiring more parking? Freaking zoning in Columbus is totally broken. If zoning is what gets this lost to Austin, I won't even know what to say.

Columbus: Scioto Peninsula Developments and News
So I actually edited my post probably around the same time you quoted me, because I meant to say it the way you typed it, lol. Yes, Columbus' success is also Cleveland's success. I think Columbus is stronger if the whole state is strong. I have my concerns about a Columbus-dominated state economy. I think Ohio is better off with multiple strong cities rather than one strong and multiple struggling. Basically, I don't want Ohio to look like a Georgia or an Indiana where one city dominates the entire thing. I don't think we're anywhere near that, but I mean.....Cleveland just keeps struggling and I don't like that it's at the expense of Columbus thriving. I'd like Columbus to draw more out-of-state people than just people moving from NEO. And I realize I'm saying that as someone from NEO, haha.

Are they still doing the bolded now post-HQ2? I didn't realize that. Curious if there was an article or something out there about it. As far as Sherwin-Williams, I'd actually prefer if they stayed in Cleveland. I'm a Northeast Ohio native now living in Columbus, and even I recognize that a huge factor in Columbus' growth is the migration of people like myself from NEO to Columbus. But we also must remember that Columbus' success is Cleveland's success and I would hate to see Cleveland take such a hit at all, even if they moved to Columbus. But it probably won't happen. I'm more concerned they're moving out of state.

Columbus: Fifth by Northwest (5xNW) Development and News
Zyrokai replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionYes, I understand and I'm not blaming those people. I'm more blaming the design of our streets more than anything.

Columbus: Scioto Peninsula Developments and News
Oh, I'm not trying to say it's not. I'm legitimately glad it's coming because CVS is just too expensive and the only current option.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
Yeah.....I think I'm in agreement that Cleveland isn't a lock. Let's hope they truly don't leave, but if I had to guess, I'd say there's a good chance they don't stay, as well. And that would be so incredibly sad ?

Zyrokai replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI saw the word "finally" before the pictures loaded and I got REALLY excited they were adding sidewalks somewhere in the area. I've got to laugh about this whole 3rd Ave bridge fiasco. I voluntarily got rid of my car 3 years ago, before this project even started, and this has been a complete non-issue for me. I don't even remember about it until someone I interact with in my life starts complaining about it. The wonders of walking, biking, and busing everywhere, let me tell ya! The sweet, sweet irony for me is that this project is to add sidewalks to make it more bike and pedestrian friendly. Warning: Jerk face statement incoming: Maybe this makes me a big jerk face, but I am loving the justice of this rather minuscule inconvenience for drivers because they can't plow through anything and everything to their destination without any kind of headache when people who don't drive are pretty much given the finger for every project done in this city that has a car concession. And 95% of said projects prioritize drivers over anyone using any other method of transport no matter it be their feet, bicycle, or whatever.

The skybridges ruin the entire thing for me. Like jonoh81 said about garages, I feel the same about skybridges. They have no place here.
