Columbus: Short North Developments and News
Zyrokai replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionYeah....I guess that is a promising sign. I'm honestly surprised that Equitas will have to move. I figured that building wasn't up for demo. Honestly, I think the main thing that worries me is this: since they're about to build new sidewalks, I worry they'll keep the car-entrance ramps (sorry I don't know the technical term if there is one) into the parking lot even on the new sidewalk unless something new is being built. In the previous phase, all those new buildings were going up at the same time as the High Street improvements. And while that's happening to some degree with the Yoga-on-High old location, the other two prime developments aren't seeing any movement and it makes me worry they won't be developed until AFTER the street work is done, thus prolonging the construction again. I liked that it was all being done at once in the previous phase, lol. Anyway, I know this is all nit-picking but isn't that what forums are for? ?

Columbus: Short North Developments and News
Zyrokai replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI was being hyperbolic, I guess. I was just venting frustration. I get irritated every time I see the check place and I always wonder if the current owner is purposely holding off on selling or something.

Zyrokai replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionExcept that stupid check building and old dollar store will still be there....only to tear up the sidewalks once again should they ever get developed. But I'm convinced they will forever be never developed.

They also claim it's the first account-based system in the country. Is that true?

Greater Columbus COTA News & Discussion
^^^^ Came here to post this! This is super exciting and about time! I immediately got it and loaded up $10. I used it this morning and it works just fine. I'm just so glad they finally have it. Funny story....I was literally on my way out the door to go to the gas station, get $10 from the ATM, but a stick of gum so I could have some singles for the bus, and then this story popped up on my phone and I immediately got it instead of walking to the gas station. This scenario happens weekly. No more. Thank GOD. Also, here's the Columbus Underground story on it: https://www.columbusunderground.com/pay-by-phone-now-available-on-cota-buses-bw1

Columbus: Random Development and News
Zyrokai replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & Construction^^^I hope this is the case for the few smaller-ish lots along High Street downtown. It still boggles my mind that anything along High is a parking lot.

Columbus: Random Development and News
Zyrokai replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionI wish I could read this article, but it's behind a paywall. Anyone care to help me out somehow? I really would like to read this.... Also not sure if this is the right thread for it but it's an article about why Columbus isn't building high rises. Edit: I was able to load the article in full! Anyway....worth a read! Basically: land is cheap here.

Cedar Point
Zyrokai replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentI'm hoping this is something out of nothing because that would seriously suck to all hell. I can see Cedar Fair selling a few of their smaller parks, though.

Columbus: German Village / Schumacher Place Developments and News
Zyrokai replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionUm. Yeah that's rage-inducing. Completely baffling. Can they surpass the commission for city approval? It's not hard to see how ridiculous they're being.

Columbus: Clintonville Developments and News
Zyrokai replied to Summit Street's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionEven if they did do it that way, I'd still want the traffic calming bump outs. You know--in Columbus--those would have never been built otherwise. That alone is worth it to me. All the other benefits are bonus.

Zyrokai replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionGotcha. There are other co-working spaces in the SN as well, right? Off topic: I don't really know or understand co-working spaces. Is it basically for freelance workers? Is that what it means?

Columbus: Downtown: Millennial Tower
They also still have two signs up in River South: one at the actual site and another at the NE corner of 2nd and Main, for some reason. I was positive and optimistic about this project, but I also think it's dead. Very sad considering Michael Coleman was involved in its final approval. What happens to the plot of land if the project is indeed dead? Sell it?

Columbus: Downtown: Merchant Building
This entire area, including Spruce, Park, Vine, Swan........should be pedestrian only. Columbus isn't this bold, though.

Columbus: Downtown: Merchant Building
^^^^This is true. Density is the more important to the health of the city than some crazy high tower for the sake of changing the skyline. Just think of DC, in this instance. This project is overall adding more despite a height reduction, and I assume it's being done at a realist cost as well. Also, you might like it when it's done.
