  1. I literally can't imagine a 700 foot building coming up. The tallest building now is sub-700 feet, right? Based on a quick Google search, that would be a first for Columbus to have one over 700 feet.
  2. I'm actually assuming that they own the whole block, lol. That's probably not true, right?
  3. I guess because they're trying to renovate the iPhone building? Wouldn't that mean there are no plans to do anything with this whole block?
  4. That whole block just needs to go. I hate that iPhone building. Sorry not sorry. Something awesome could be at this prime location and yet.......it's not. And now it seems like it never will.
  5. Is there possibly a chance this still goes through, though?
  6. I was going to say GV based on the gas meter fiasco, but then I remembered the amazing Kaufman development that VV shut down. And then I remembered the CV High & (was it North Broadway????) development that was reduced to a stupid one-story strip mall at a prominent corner. They're all just the worst.....ugh.
  7. I have a very serious question. I don't know which thread to post this in other than this one. I recently moved to this area and I'm just flabbergasted at the lack of sidewalks along Northwest Boulevard. What in the actual world is going on? As soon as Grandview Heights ends, the quality of Northwest plummets. North of King, there are no sidewalks, yet tons of people are forced to walk through the grass. The intersection of of Chambers and Northwest is atrocious and it's absurdly ridiculous that Chambers also lacks sidewalks considering the sheer amount of foot traffic walking along it in dangerous conditions. This is right by the neighborhood grocery store and the number 3 bus line, for goodness sake. The conditions are deplorable and I can't believe it looks like this in this day and age. A lot of college students without cars live around here as well. I don't own a car, either. What is the hold up? Northwest--in its entirety--is prime for a road diet. What gives here? To whom can I complain to? And who must I vote for to fix this as a Columbus resident? If the excuse on lack of progress here is that too many municipalities mix/meet up in this area, I'm going to scream, lol. Sorry for the rather stern rant but I'm pretty discouraged with this whole area. There is so much potential here and yet it remains a car dependant crap shoot.
  8. ^^^ Yeah that makes sense but.....why would removing the letters be a part of that? Not important, I guess, but it doesn't make much sense to me.
  9. Wait....This is my first time hearing about such a thing and a "punch list item". Why would this be intentional? Is that "shadow" of the letters that was mentioned also part of this? I'm having trouble understanding why this would be, lol.
  10. One of the many great things about living in Columbus is that our friends in Cleveland and Cincinnati are both 2 hours or less away! I just came back fr a weekend Cleveland trip and it was lovely. This is on top of being on Cincinnati less than a month ago as well. I love seeing all three cities grow and change, and I wish the same for Ohio's other great cities that DON'T begin with a C ?
  11. Wow, that's awesome. Now if only the old Giant Eagle could become something other than a liquor store. I can't stand that GE is holding it hostage. In fact, that whole plaza has so much potential. So much wasted space. Could have an awesome mixed use project there.
  12. Goodale Park is bursting at the seems with its capacity Mostly by unleashed dogs. It's insane. I hate going there now.
  13. Brb dialing now. Jk. This is Woods Co., right? I feel like they're definitely aware. There must be some reason they're not there.
  14. I usually like what Crawford Hoying does. Hope this adds some density to the Polaris area. I'm still waiting for a big downtown development from them..........
  15. I can't unsee the Brunner Building thing. Why TF aren't they in there?!
  16. Been wondering about this! I ride the bus by this site each day and I know they had their "ceremonial ground breaking" a couple weeks ago over the ASAE meeting weekend, but I actually haven't seen anything moving as I go by....granted I can't look below though, lol.
  17. Yep. It's infuriating to say the least. I've actually wanted to start a petition to make this change but.....I'm a little naive on how I can do this and if it's even possible. But I feel like it's something a citizen-led thing can achieve. OSU probably manages the streets on their campus......maybe. Or it's one of those RARE exceptions I was telling you about. If you go to another municipality, like Grandview Heights, they've adopted the standard design. Maybe not UA., lol. But for a city the size of Columbus not to do so, it's frankly embarrassing and is a blatant car concession. I actually know why this is going on within in the city, and I don't want to give details to make my source less anonymous....but there ARE people in the city fighting this....but they seem to not be making much progress. Anyway, sorry to derail the thread. I don't know where else to discuss it, though.
  18. You know what makes me SO mad about renders like this............is that they always show the international standard crosswalk design that the city of Columbus REFUSES to use except in very certain circumstances and we're lucky to have even that. Boils my blood because pedestrian safety should be #1. I was just in Los Angeles and even there EVERY single intersection has this design, not the absolute basic design. Floors me that, especially in the Short North and University District, these aren't standard. /rant Nice looking building, though.
  19. I don't currently have any pictures, but next time I'm visiting my family in Massillon, I'm going to take construction photos of all the work they are doing in downtown Massillon. Big things happening!
  20. Remember what we said about the markets Kings Island pulls from? ?.........Lexington, Louisville, Indy, Cincy........not exactly the most diverse cities in the country : p I think Cedar Point's staff is also a "destination staff" just like its visitors, so they're coming from all over the world rather than just .......northern Kentucky and southern Ohio, haha.
  21. Just now seeing this. Sorry! I feel like I haven't visited nearly as much as I would like. My first trip there I was pretty much just downtown near the convention center as well as Universal City area. Also visited La Brea Tar Pits. My second time there I stayed at a friend's who lives in Hollywood. So I've seen a lot of Hollywood and West Hollywood as well. We also went downtown once, and we also went to Venice Beach. I'm actually leaving for LA again tomorrow for 5 days. Staying in Hollywood again. Looking for suggestions and ideas on neighborhoods to explore, cool unique things to do that, and awesome food to eat! I love walking around cool neighborhoods, something I don't feel I have been able to do out there yet. Some planned ideas are: Visiting Long Beach Visiting Santa Barbara (another friend lives up there) Little Tokyo And that's about all the ideas I have right now, haha
