  1. Next Phases of I-70/I71 Split Curious about this............Are they still going to be building High Street bridge to be able to be a "cap" like they did in the Short North? The only good thing about this project are the new bridges that will be more pedestrian friendly (I hope!!!!! We better see that improved Front Street bridge as well!!!). I can't believe they're going to widen it in an urban environment. Are they really going to widen it as it travels east and west in that trench? C-R-A-Z-Y. Here's a link to all the new bridge designs.
  2. Thank you! And I was wondering about that spot by Buttles as well!! I thought maybe it had to do with something for the construction of Bollinger. It's really weird and bothers me ?
  3. It's amazing to me how fast this is going. It looks great.
  4. I noticed they were removing the old poles and was happy about that. The only intersection remaining that hasn't switched to the new traffic lights and signals is High & 1st / Price. .justin, where can I sign up for these update emails? I'm always just checking here for updates about tiny stuff like that and I don't want to keep stupidly asking if it's readily available like that. Here is the only official outlet I know to check for updates: https://www.columbus.gov/Templates/Detail.aspx?id=2147501680
  5. ^^^Haha, that's pretty funny. Kudos to however did that ? Also, anyone know when they're going to be filling the new planters in the Short North? There's supposed to be a bunch of new "green space" and what not.
  6. ^^^ Like actually removing part of the walls to outside? Yeesh.......I really like the building and liked RAM upstairs. I can't believe nothing has moved in yet. It's a neat space. Also, yesterday I noticed that Delmar restaurant (I think?) is open on the lower level of the new Lincoln Building. Didn't even know that was close to opening. Is that building largely done, then? Inside on the upper levels looks like they are incomplete, though.
  7. Went up $10 million, then? Seems like they're going through with it though. Super happy.
  8. Cool pictures, thanks for sharing. Really loving what they're doing to Bollinger Tower. Bigger windows looks SO much better than the prison windows that were there before, lol. Also, they completely destroyed the new (!!!) sidewalk that was put in right in front of it. I'm hoping that when they repair it, they keep it uniform to the color/texture of what they spent all last year putting in, lol. And what's funny is that the new sidewalk in front of the Moxy Hotel looks completely fine (albeit covered with wood slate things). Wonder why one was able to be protected and the other one destroyed during construction, ha. Just thinking out loud. I'm sure there are reasons.
  9. It would be swell if they built another tower as tall as the one on the west side of Neil ? Is that also NRI?
  10. Plans Unveiled for Final Phases of Jeffrey Park The latest plans for the future of Jeffrey Park were unveiled today by Wagenbrenner Development. Along with new residential buildings and a reconfigured park space, the plans call for a large parking garage with office space above it that would be the tallest building constructed so far in the 41-acre development at the edge of Italian Village. Containing anywhere from 100,000 to 140,000 square feet of office space, the building would also hold enough parking to meet the needs of the final three phases of Jeffrey Park. Apartments would wrap around the parking garage, and an amenity deck would offer outdoor space for both residents and office tenants. “The (Italian Village) Commission has been wanting to see our best guess for how the site is going to fill out,” said company president Mark Wagenbrenner. “The problem is, every time we show a plan that’s this far out, the world changes…we’re now getting close enough to the end, though, that it is in everybody’s interest to (share the plans).” More below: https://www.columbusunderground.com/plans-unveiled-for-final-phases-of-jeffrey-park-bw1
  11. So glad they came out and said this. I'm viewing it as good news as well and it gives me some confidence in the project. Even if there is a rumored height reduction, I feel like it'll be a great project. Hopefully we hear something sooner rather than later!
  12. Oh, nice discovery! I certainly hope it's the anchor tenant! That's exciting for sure. Nice find.
  13. ^^^ Just saw this and was going to post, but you beat me to it! Exciting stuff!
  14. I live in Victorian Village, a mere block from here, am frequently at the stores and services here (Kroger, bars, the library) and basically consider this area to be my home as well, plus I have vested interest in the health of the city in which I live. We need more density projects and I will advocate for them every chance I get if it adds more housing. I don't want the character of a neighborhood ruined--ever--but there are many ways to prevent that while fulfilling the needs of the city. The person above me explained it perfectly. The High & Price project is such a huge loss for not only Victorian Village, but The Short North and surrounding neighborhoods as well. It would have fit Victorian Village perfectly and was, imo, quite beautiful. And I'm a VV official resident, if we want to get technical.
  15. Thank you! I'll try that in the future : ) Just Google streetviewed that area. I haven't been behind these buildings on High in a long time. There's a lot of room for growth right now according to the 2016 streetview, lol. A couple more of these type of projects could replace some surface lots. back there.
  16. This isn't that far away from that Uncommon place, which I felt at least somewhat added height to the area. Maybe they can try to squeeze a floor or two more out of the commission. Is the University Commission usually height-adverse? If it's just NIMBYs, I can try to go to the meeting and fight back with my YIMBY and argue that more density is needed to support the crazy amount of retail right there. Also, Kroger's stupid parking lot is looking more and more out of place, lol
  17. I'm unable to see that whole article (paywall....I really should subscribe, lol). That looks/sounds like more than a "garage". What exactly is it? And where is it being proposed to be built?
  18. Ooohhh very interesting. I rode my bike through that parking lot just yesterday and it wasn't there. But I also know that they're starting the next phase of the High Street streetscaping this week so it could be for that. Hopefully it's both! I was wondering if that project was still alive and well or not.
  19. This is kinda blowing my mind. I thought they started in summer 2018. Man.....time is just passing me by.......... ?
  20. I'm also looking at that Moxy hotel and thinking that went up super fast. Maybe it also won't open for a long time? Looks about 80% done from the outside, lol.
  21. 2021!? It's going to take that long to build?? Crazy.....
  22. I mean, aren't there two traveling lanes in each direction there? We reduced it to one travel lane each direction in the Short North, why not here? There's already no street parking here. Is traffic substantially higher here than to the south? Just seems odd. Where there's a will, there's a way. I think the width of those sidewalks are pretty unacceptable and there's a way to fix it if we wanted to. Edit: This wasn't meant to be mean, if it came across that way. Also, I realized I might be derailing the thread a bit since this isn't the University District thread, so I apologize.
  23. I guess I'm referring north of 9th Ave across from the university, my bad. This area here: https://www.google.com/maps/@39.9971472,-83.0074708,3a,75y,21.84h,87.75t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sLh5R612V8724AVt_nOaWAg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?hl=en (hopefully that link works....it's supposed to be a street view link) Seems like I'm walking on the edge of a cliff. Tons of people, narrow sidewalk, terrifying cars and buses speeding by literally a foot away from me. Any plans for this? I guess it's not included in this plan, but maybe another one?
  24. Awesome. Thanks for the update. I had no idea they were going all the way to 9th Ave. Gonna be a mess, but hopefully worth it. Quick, someone tell the powers that be to buy the check cash place and start building something on it so they don't have to re-destroy the sidewalk when this inevitably happens one year from now. Edit: Also, are there plans to widen the sidewalk by the university? It feels so narrow on the east side of High....
