^Even a step further, I would like to see a line like that incorporated with the Shoreway Blvd and somehow connect closer to downtown or maybe even under the Detroit/Superior Bridge.....but that is only dreaming when you can have BRT!!!!!

Still wish there were a line through the densest area between NYC and Chicago.....Clifton Blvd/Edgewater/lakewood...going dowtown...instead of the W Shoreway! ^I agree with what you had to say...for the most part

And now onto what urbanlife posted.....about the crappy street scape and bus stops/signage that Cleveland has compared to Chicago....not saying we need to BE Chicago...but the signage and bus stops (which actually face the STREET are pretty good ideas)...I hope someone will forward these pics to city leaders, downtown alliance, RTA, and whoever else might be able to do something about this (God forbid, but would the PD actually run a possible story on this?)

Maybe we are talking about a different area....but how much use is going to made out of a hillside? ballparks? no B-ball or tennis? no.... I am not talking about the land directly behind the tower....but the hillside itself. And I agree, a park would be nice.....but I just don't like the way the make parks in Cleveland a giant field....Luke Easter, Zone, etc....I prefer some developement and have a nice park integrated within.... Bryant Park is a good ex (NYC) I am all for parks....but I am NOT all for letting land just go to waste (Penninsula, the river banks, and the hillside)

Urbanlife...couldn't agree with you more! I posted a similar response to you in the other thread........the main problem I see happening here in Cleveland that you don't see as much of in DT Chicago is people smashing, detroying, and vandalizing stuff. Chicago is much bigger, yet to me seems much cleaner and well kept! I guess it is the amount of DT residents and retail that make the big difference. I DO hope that these things will happen here though. On top of some of these things....I would like to see the bus stops face the street so you can actually SEE the bus coming. Not sure why some of them face away? While we are at it...why not do a WAY beter job of pimping the RED LINE at the airport? When I was coming back from NYC the other day, I must have told at least 10 people not to take the cab DT, but rather take the train..WAY cheaper! The respones: I didn't realize there WAS a train here! WHY?...because the signage SUCKS!Every sign that mentions ground transportation should also mention TRAINS TO CITY....some people may not know what rapid transit means. But don't get me started about how much I think I could improve the trains here in the city..... Funny story, my friends friend was visiting here from Charlotte NC this past weekend....and who did he bring with him..his girlfriend..the daughter of Mr Tober....who happens to now run the transit system down there. MAN I wish he would have been able to do what he wanted to here (and what he IS doing down there)....

I still don't understand how Clevealnd can't pull off shoring up the land behind the tower.....(the hillside overlooking the river and DT) and build there? It's not like this has never been done in the history of mankind. That is PRIME land for what could be an awesome project of some sort...but of course money comes into play and then the excuses roll. The whole river area....the hillside, the penninsula, it has soooo much potential...but yet it is all just sitting there going to waste! Back to the hillside.....is this owned by the county or privately owned? It would be nice if a private contractor could do something there. Maybe not just build on TOP of the hill....but actually INTO the hill! Maybe a San Fran type neighborhood built into the hill.....seems like such a waste just sitting there...waiting to be turned into a park that nobody will use.

Cleveland-random venting
I would love to see some if not all of the improvements mentioned....but I think the problem is, there seems to be a much different presence in DT Chicago than there is here. It seems like a lot of people that use the downtown area here just plain don't care about nice things or treat things as if they were theirs. I would love to see more art, upgraded bus stops, etc etc. It just sucks to see nice things placed in DT or even the neighborhoods only to see them vandalized or destroyed. here is a curious question....why do a lot of the Cleveland bus stops face AWAY from the street? I have never understood why you would sit in a bus stop where cannot see the street or the bus coming?

rapid question from a relocater to cleveland
Here is a Westsider jumping in....... If you live in Jackson Hts then Ohio City or Tremont would be NO problem for you. Shaker square area IS nice....but I work at a fire station not far from there on E 116th and as much a some of the residents of SS on this board love the place, there IS some serious crime South AND West of the area. I have responded to some crazy stuff there. Don't get me wrong....the immediate area of Shaker Square and the Heights is absolutely gorgeous. I just wouldn't feel safe going for a jog or long bike ride West of there. (I already KNOW I am going to get verbally abused for saying that!) I suggest MY area of Edgewater Park(5 min bus ride downtown on the 55 or 75)....but when you check out OC and Tremont....you might be vaguely reminded of parts of Maspeth or even parts of Woodside.... As much as everyone here tries to give you their (my) opinion...the best thing is to check out all the areas...check out the train and bus possibilities...and decide for yourself

I didn't see the SLICE option either (not to mention hours). I actually just wrote to their comment section, expressing that it would be smart to sell pie by the slice as well as to have late night hours for the residents/bar patrons in that area. This looks as if it is their first Urban setting, it should be interesting how they handle it.

Around Cincinnati's West Fourth Street Historic District
Seems that Cincy is a lot like Pittsburgh when it comes to the downtown street widths from what I can see.....they seem pretty narrow. I like that look...Cleveland streets are pretty wide downtown, but I think it takes away from the crowded downtown look....just my opinion.
