  1. So does that mean if I was working for Forbes, got caught stranded in a barn in Applecreek OH, drank moonshine and screwed a horny Amish girl...I could nominate Applecreek for #1 in nightlife? See my point...these are stupid polls....but at least Ohio got rep'd

I LOVE when people are so uninformed about the water here, the river fire of three decades ago, and Lake Erie! Yes, the river caught on fire a looooong time ago..but it wasn't the only river or body of water to burn...there were quite a few, but for some reason Cleveland got to be the butt of the jokes. Many areas that had heavy industrial areas had water pollution problems because of no real EPA standards that were in place...unlike now. Yes the river may look dirty, but it is only because it is a shallow river with much traffic that kicks up the mud and makes it appear dirty. Heavy storms can do the same thing, just like in the lake near the shore line. When storms roll in, sometimes the turbulent water kicks up dirt near the shallow areas of the shore which gives the appearance of "dirty water". I was in the lake today..swimming...YES, swimming....(some people are SO afraid to swim in the water because it is "contaminated"...it's NOT) When water is stagnant or the debris is kicked up after a storm, it can sometimes reach "unsafe" bacteria levels.....this year has been far and few between with those levels. In fact, I was in neck deep ( I am 6'3") and could see my feet at the bottom clearly. I have dived ship wrecks miles out into the lake to depths of about 70 ft and had very good visibility. MANY beaches go through this...not just up here in Cleveland area. The water that NE Ohio drinks out of the lake is NOT taken from shallow areas, but rather from in intake crib three mile out in the lake, where the deeper waters are. The water here is fine...plain and simple.
  3. ^ I am not really familiar with D&D....I just usually run downt to the bodega to grab some milk, a slice, maybe a sandwich....and of course beer when I am visiting my friends in Queens...most likely more expensive than a supermarket....but having them scattered around makes bodegas so easy...
  4. Believe it or not..the is a sandy beach there as well....not just rocks to fish from....which some may think...and am sure the Inland shots will show that as well...
  5. ^^^I like almost all of the ideas in the article of cool stores that should come downtown...with the exception of the upscale grocery store. There is a "sorta" upscale grocery store on W 9th already...I would rather see a regular supermarket AND/OR some bodegas "like NYC" scattrered around throughout the different projects going up.
  6. ^^..No, I am not familiar..just stating concern for an empty building in downtown IF the convention center went elsewhere......did I say anything about tearing it down? I thought I mentioned something to the affect of additions and what "untouchable" meant....but thats okay....I'll keep wearing my Kevlar!
  7. If I can't play the way I want to.....I'm taking my toys and going home!!.....
  8. ^^^Was that CLEVELAND..or a burb? I'm not quite sure where that is, but it looks more like the Warrensville Hts area....not in the city of Cleveland...
  9. Wimwar...call off that machine gun guy...it's starting to hurt!!! I MEANT..can there be a project to ADD-ON to the current building in a vertical manor(like 515 Euclid parking garage hopefully)...like hotel, office space, BOTH...and use the current ground level, below ground for other things....
  10. ^^ and don't forget direct rail to downtown Cleveland!
  11. Showing my ignorance....but if there is to be another convention center built...then why is the old one "untouchable"? I understand of protecting historic buildings, that is prime downtown property that could be developed into something rather than sit as an abandoned building. Obviously the other "untouchables" are in use and that status is fine for them(except that I think the BOE uses WAY to much land for the building that sits on it). I know many people on here will emphatically disagree with me on this, but to me, the archaic convention center is a behemoth that is underused and takes up prime space! (sorta like the Browns stadium...even though I am an avid football fan!) Is there a way that that building could be incorporated into a project that could turn it into more vertical space? Does the term "untouchable" mean COMPLETELY? Just curious.....
  12. ^I see the debate brewing with that stat....population vs. sq miles!!! I won't be the one to start it..only instigate it!
  13. ^ I Disagree....Haven't you ever been to Gary, Indiana?!?!?!
  14. Ah.....what Cleveland COULD have been if the forefathers would have taken their heads outta their asses! lol Takes me back when I spent a lot of time in Chicago....great pics! That Brazilian steak house reminds me of the one in downtown Cleveland (Brasa) same thing with the red/green coaster. I need to get back to visit Chicago soon.
  15. Crap..when I read the title to this thread...I thought it was about Cleveland! :) I must admit..the pics ARE nice!
  16. Well..I had my letter to the editor published today in the peedee..and of course, it was edited, chopped, and made me sound like an idiot! I hope SOME of what I wanted to convey came across!?!?! Sorry if I didn't "rep" well for urbanohio.....
  17. ^^ I tried to find the stats for DT Sq mileage on the three C's...but all I could find was the Sq mileage for the entire city limits for the three C's according to Wikipedia. Cleveland: Land 77.6 s miles water 4.8 sq miles DT pop 9599(and rising) Cincinnnati: Land 78 sq miles water 1.6 sq miles (no info on DT pop) Columbus: Land 210.3 sq miles water 2.3 sq miles (no info on DT pop)
