Cleveland: A Morning Run in Clark-Fulton
The "gentleman's club" picture....I wish you would have taken a photo of the fire station attached to the West end of that building (Engine 24), it is one of the city's few remaining single engine houses and one of the city's oldest...quite a landmark! It is unfortunate that the city chose NOT to rehab these old cool stations and chose to instead close them and build the crappy "jiffy lube" type stations that are mostly around now. All in all, that was a pretty cool thread, it's cool to see some of the grittier neighborhoods.

Miami: Dead Downtown
^ ^ ^Yes...I guess if you are looking for college bars you are absolutely correct...but as far as everything else...Arena district and part of Short North ssssskkkkkkkiiiiiiiippppp>>>>>>>Easton. I guess it is all in what you are looking for. I have many friends here that think that Cleveland has much more to offer for the upper 20somethings and up. But those are the people I know from Cbus. Of course most people in this state think that their city is the best when it comes to nightlife...this is all opinion based anyway, so nobody can be "correct" on the matter.

Miami: Dead Downtown
I am not so sure I trust Wikipedia so much.....I had a an issue with St. Patty's day parade stats and wrote them to try to rectify the info....they told me that they weren't sure about the facts that they had (about rankings in parade size) but if I was sure about the info, to go ahead and change it right on the site! That is the thing abot Wikipedia...anyone can modify a page if they want....interesting

Miami: Dead Downtown
I think some of you have failed to realize what I meant. I am not saying that Cleveland is better than South Beach, NYC, Chicago..etc. I was saying that the core area of downtown and very nearby has many places to go compared to other places I have been. Yes,...as it was stated, it should have over 100 places with a Metro over 2 million...but I wasn't talking about the "Metro" area...I was talking about the many restaurants, clubs, bars within very close proximity to downtown. South Beach and Coconut Grove in the Miami area are great...but downtown Miami isn't so hot(no pun intended). When it comes to the three big cities in Ohio... I have experienced Columbus, and it it nice...but things (to me) seem to be very spread out and not as many places in such close proximity. As for Cincy, I have never been there. I can only go by what my friend from Cincy who I work with at the fire station has told me. His opinion is that Cincy is ultra conservative in comparison, slower paced, and that there is no real main entertainment area..that there are some really nice places, but again, are more spread out. I can only go by what he has told me and from what another friend told me that moved down that way for work. I have been to other cities outside of Ohio that I think aren't nearly as fun as Cleveland(sorry Pope, but Detroit is one of them) The burbs there are nice (Royal Oak for one)..but downtown just didn't seem like it was a hot spot outside of the casinos. I am in no way trying to say Cleveland is number one or be blinded with pride OR cut down other places...I was just making an observation from what I have seen and from visitors from other places. All three Ohio big cities have cool things...hell, I WISH OSU were in downtown Cleveland! I guess when it just boils down to what one might consider fun...so again...if my earlier post spazzed some of you out...I am sorry! :)

Oh.My.God.
How did the near assassination of Mayday become a coffee talk discussion? Is he THAT insignificant? SHEEESH...I don't even know the poor guy but I am feeling bad for him now! I think you all owe him a cold one! (beer, not coffee!)

Cleveland: Downtown: The Avenue District
I DO wish some of the neighborhoods would take pride and "sell" the area...signage, over the street gateways, etc...sort of like Chicago does with Humboldt Park with the Puerto Rican gateway and "Boystown" with the rainbow signage on the streets....the little green "historical" signs we have here just don't cut it IMO.

The 2004 Census Figures (Cleveland, cover your eyes)
One thing that hurts Cleveland in the census is that it has the most public housing out of the three big "C"s in Ohio. What I mean by this is, many times it is hard to get an accurate count of how many people live in these places due to the fact many people never fill out the questionaire...or may be afraid to admit how many people are living there because some people are there that shouldn't be. I have serious doubts about how these census..cencuses..censi..oh hell...COUNTS are taken. I have heard numbers from under 400,000 all the way up to over 600,000 for the number of residents in Cleveland. Who knows?

Drug Problems in Downtown Cleveland
I beat my head on the wall saying that in the more denser residential areas, such as Ohio city, Tremont, and the rising numbers in downtown...WE NEED POLICE FOOT/BIKE PATROLS! It puts the police IN the community and takes them out of their cars. That kind of presence helps to curb this kind of activity. I believe this should start soon in the Warehouse District so incidents like last Sat have less of a chance to be repeated. Ona sidenote...the incident of last Sat could help to be avoided if the bar/club owners get together, stop the college ID nights/and other theme nights...which brings in nothing but trouble, and keep that area safe. Not only is it an entertainment area, but it is a residential area as well. Let's not let what killed the flats kill the warehouse area.

Miami: Dead Downtown
I have to agree that the Midwest seems like the future market. The cost of livivng is pretty darn good in the area. Specifically Cleveland, I think that there is no comparison between here and Miami(okay, maybe they have the Ocean and better weather). When you talk about things going on..we have three pro sports teams right downtown. The size of our theater district can't be beat outside of NYC. The proximity of downtown bars and restaurants within walking distance (Warehouse district, gateway, and the coming back of the flats) and if you include a VERY short cab/public tranasit/car ride..you have Ohio City, Tremont, and even Lakewood...that equals WELL over 100 places to go within a 5-10 minute ride!(thats pretty good for a non-college town) That is pretty hard to compete with whether it be Miami or even the other two big "C"s in Ohio. Indeed, if you are from out of town, you may only know of the Warehouse area and it may not seem like much else is going on...but throw in the other areas mentioned, you better have a few weekends to get it all in (and a strong liver!) I am partial to the near West since DT, OC, Tremont, and Lakewood are all VERY close in proximity...but I will throw a shout to the fairly near East side from DT...Little Italy and Coventry!

Another Beautiful Day for a Walk in Cleveland
I just talked to someone that worked there last summernd she said that they were closed. She now works at Shooters.

Miami: Dead Downtown
Bayside area in downtown Miami is okay..but not great( but damn those Hooters girls there are HOT!) There are some good "local" spots in Miami, but they are spread out and mostly outside of downtown. The Grove and S Beach are about it when it comes to "hotspots".

Oh.My.God.
That IS freaking strange! I guess everyone reacts differently in certain situations, but knowing how I can be at times, I am sure I would have had to confront this person and ask what the deal was (when others are around of course). I haven't had anything to THAT extreme happen, but I have been followed or stared at before...and usually it was mistaken identity. Be safe out there my UrbanOhio brotha! :)

Greater Columbus COTA News & Discussion
I wish somebody on the bus would have punched back! These punks make me sick..I see it here in Cleveland at times. These people act like they don't have to obey the rules of society. I know I DO say stuff and make it obvious that I am pissed when people act like freakin animals...I guess one day I will get shot or a knife in the gut....but that is just my Irish temperment (and being 6'3" and 240 sometimes helps!)

Columbus Nationwide Shot
WOW...people are pretty brutal on Cbus in this forum! In MY opinion, all three cities have some really cool qualities and all have some self loathing issues as well. Columbus...BIGGEST city, bragging rites, but spread out..it might be hard to ever fill in the CBD because of space available throughout the city. It IS a nice city, clean, and rather upscale for the most part(at least from what I have seen) Cincinnati..pretty dense looking from certain views(even NOT counting NKY), cool looking rowhouses, great looking river...coolest looking of the big three (for now)....smallest population of the big three so it may have the small guy syndrome. Cleveland...the middle child...second in population, tallest buildings in the state, but tall ones are too far apart from the east half of downtown. Erieview Tower is almost as tall as Cincy's tallest, and that side of downtown is pretty dense, but the visual makes it seem otherwise. Cleveland has an ocean....I mean Lake Erie..nice plus. Lack or rowhouses sucks, but the large apartment buildings are a nice plus. Lakewood(right on the border) is the densest area between NYC and Chicago..pretty cool and TONS of bars..even better. Centralized entertainment areas in Cleveland are a nice plus as well. The lack of ability to seem to get things done here seems to be a big MINUS! Will half of these project ever get built? That would DEFINITELY add density to the downtown. Leadership bickering, lack of any championship sports teams, being dubbed one of the poorest cities (stats are deceiving) and of course..we can never seem to NOT be reminded that our river(creek to those down in Cincy) actually caught fire MANY years ago! When it came to national jokes...you never heard Cincy or Columbus mention...guess who was! lol Anyway, point is....all three cities have their bad points...and their good points (Even though I KNOW Cleveland is the best! lol had to be said) As long as people are willing to take pictures, post articles, and promote Ohio and it's cities....we should be happy and NOT spend so much time ripping on other places or efforts. I am NOT picking on anyone...just stating my thoughts. I would hate to see the posts on here turn into what I read on Cleveland.com THAT is why I chose to come here! Good day all....

CincinnatiRoads.com: UPDATED 02/2007, with OTR!
Great job, that was VERY cool! You guys need to come up to Cleveland and do the same thing here! Since I am too lazy and technically challenged.....I will supply the place to stay and the beer/booze! :) I would love to see that done here in C-town!
