  1. I have gone water skiing, tubing, and done the jet ski thing many times on the lake....I live right in Cleveland by Edgewater...it is nicer to have calm waters to ski...but tubing and jet skiing are fun in any water..at least for me.

So since progressive is still around, why have they not looked into a tower again..what about joint ventures? What about Quicken loans? I'm greedy...I want more towers! :)

You DO realize he speaks of the beanbag toss cornhole...not the OTHER one!
  4. Actually Bizbiz...I think the total is up to 19 or 20 already, those stats are always a little behind...good find though!
  5. and I thought Topps and Giant Eagle were cool......lol..sounds like Cleveland is missing out!
  6. That happened on the East Cleveland station very late at night/or early AM however you look at it...it wasn't on the train, but it did happen. This is my bitch (one of many) about RTA..not enough security or cameras. I have transit police friends, but in my opinion, they do't need to all be driving around in patrol cars, some should be patrolling stations AND trains on foot, I also believe there needs to be more cameras that are monitored...but hey, what do I know?
  7. I can't believe anyone would vote for "none"!?!?! I guess they must be from different cities and don't want to see more tall buildings in our city. Hell, I would take a 1000ft pile of dog dung if it made the skyline look cooler! (can't wait to hear the remarks)
  8. Where is this place you speak of?
  9. Cudell area isn't that great..but not that bad.....try hanging out at the E116th and Buckeye area or the E71st and Central area....especially during weekend nights....I work those areas, there are a LOT of bad things going on around there.

Absolutely the 49'er is still around! It is right next door to Fire Station 13 on the corner of Broadway and Pershing. The ultimate of greasy spoons in the Slavic Village area....all the grease and smoke yu would ever want!.....but damn that is good hang over food!
  11. Cuyahoga a creek!!..anorexic!!...swan river!!...well....you know...uh...at least it was a very "elemental" river at one time!! What other river in Ohio could support water, mud, AND fire all at the same time! Oh yeah...you got served!!! HA no, wait, maybe I did LOL Yes, that river is rather small, like the Rocky River just to the West. My Dad gives me the same shots. HE, being from the Pittsburgh area, lived right on the Manonga...the Mahogn...the...well you know which one, always says THAT was a river, NOT the Cuyahoga. So then always begins the great debate...river vs. great lake!
  12. Well DAMN...come on kid...get some backing and get this thing rolling...pitch and shovel some good BS PR and build that damn thing on the quadrant right off public square! (Cleveland) Too many gaps on the West part of downtown...having the three tallest buildings in the state in that part of downtown makes the other buildings on the East part of downtown look small, even though there is better infill. Even though Cincy isn't as tall, the infill makes the downtown look great. As for Columbus....well, not sure what I think. So yes, get this damn thing built right here and make the skyline even better! :)
  13. As much as I hate to admit this, I have never been to Cincy before. Those are some really nice pics. I am going to have to make the trek from Cleveland down to Cincy this summer.
  14. I kind of like the hole thing...it sounds like a similar idea that the CN Tower in Toronto has....which to me is very cool!

Willie Nelson....(Pancho and Lefty) Livin on the road my friend, is gonna keep you free and clean Now you wear your skin like iron Your breath as hard as kerosene You weren't your momma's only boy, but her favorite one it seems She began to cry when you said goodbye And sank into your dreams Pancho was a bandit boy, his horse was fast as polished steel He wore his gun outside his pants For all the honest world to feel Pancho met his match you know on the deserts down in Mexico Nobody heard his dyin words, ah but that's the way it goes All the Federales say, they could've had him any day They only let him slip away, out of kindness I suppose Lefty he can't sing the blues all night long like he used to The dust that Pancho bit down south ended up in Lefty's mouth The day they laid poor Pancho low, Lefty split for (Ohio) Where he got the bread to go, there ain't nobody knows All the Federales say, they could've had him any day They only let him slip away out of kindness I suppose The boys tell how old Pancho fell, and Lefty's livin in cheap hotels The desert's quiet, (Cleveland's)cold And so the story ends we're told Pancho needs your prayers it's true, but save a few for Lefty too He only did what he had to do, and now he's growing old All the Federales say, they could've had him any day They only let him go so long, out of kindness I suppose A few gray Federales say, they could've had him any day They only let him go so long, out of kindness I suppose
  16. That area has so much potential! It's too bad that it would cost so much to stabilize that land...it has great acess from above or below, great views too! I also think that the Northern end of West 25th has much potentila as well....from the lake on down to Bridge Ave. If only they could get rid of the crappy projects (what a genious idea...projects on lakefront property!) and other one story buildings, then redevelope the area. I guess it becomes difficult as to where to put people that are already living in the subsidized housing now. Maybe they could relocate to Crocker Park?!?! lol Seriously though, that area from the river up to 25th needs to be looked at...as well as the peninsula. WAY too much undeveloped land that close to downtown.
  17. I don't understand why the riverbend site can't be made buildable? Is it cost that prohibits it, or is it just plain not able to be done. It just seems like such a waste of prie space that overlooks downtown. There HAS to be a way make that land usable I would think.
  18. I love this forum! It even got me high!!! By that I mean my building height grew! lol (maybe that was a Northeast Ohio thing.....lol)
  19. I guess if you have more of a Southern accent, then we up here sound a lot alike......just as you down there...do to us. Boston yes...I can tell....but Brooklyn? Brooklyn borders the southern part of Cleveland right off of I-480...I can't seem to tell the difference.......oh....THAT Brooklyn! Actually, I have been seeing a girl from Queens...she sounds the same as the Brooklynites to me.... You are right about the nasaly thing up here though (not as bad as Fargo-esque though). My cousins from Pittspuke...I mean burgh used to make me say words and laugh..as I did them...one good example was the word car....in Pitt it is cawr...here in Cleve it is cAhr....funny how 100 miles can make a big difference... Knibb High football rules! I'm out(Billy Madison)
  20. I still think it is interesting that the Southern part of the state thinks we here in Cleveland speak "Fargo-esque"! I DO think we speak differently....in fact I think Cleveland proper and innner burbs tend to sound different than the outlying areas. I even had a few people from C-bus that said my frineds and I sound Jersey'ish. And NO, not all people from Jersey have THAT accent....central Jersey to me sounds much like people here. I guess if we sound fargo-esque..then so would ChiCAgo, Detroit, Toledo, and Buffalo as well? I don't know, I guess people from about Mansfield on down sound different to me. The only people I can pick out anytime I hear them speak though, are YUNS from Pittsburgh!!! :-D

Should have taken the train!!! Buses SUCK!! Not far from Wrigley, and close to the Cubby Bear..which I must say the upstairs has a GREAT turnout for Brown's Backers Club....felt like I in Cleveland when I watched the Raven's pound the Browns!

Pope...I have to disagree, I have a few friends that are from Detroit, and they LOVE coming to Cleveland. They said they wish there was as much to do in downtown Detroit and the nearby neighborhoods as there is to do here. The nice thing is, everytime they come back, they seem to bring new people with them. It's those people from Pittsburgh that never give Cleveland props! LOL MGD, I have to agree with you as well. Maybe because I am at the decrepit age of 36, but I don't find the big fun of spending the big bucks and large crowds of people in the bars in the "city" when I am in NY. I spend a pretty good amount of time over there, but when I am there, I prefer to spend most of my time in Queens(Woodside). There are a lot of little local places that aren't nearly as crowded and just as fun. Funny thing is, the $3 dollar beer in Queens tastes just as good as the $6 beer in the city....strange! :)

Trust me KJP, I have sent NUMEROUS letters to the PD editorial section and to RTA as well....what do I get in return? One letter printed a few weeks ago by the PD. It was on mass transit and how it should be integrated with the new bridge plan. RTA seems to never return or acknowledge anything sent to them. I must say, I am no way near as informed about transit as you are, but as a potential transit user, I feel I know what I would like to ride on...and it isn't a bus (or some BS form of a bus [bRT])! How nice would it be to see park and ride rail systems bringing the regoin together instead of park and wait..I mean ride...buses that are transit, but STILL sit in traffic! How nice would it be to see rail lines cut down on the need for the ever widening of highways and need for downtown parking. It doesn't take a rocket scientist(which I am not....maybe a beerologist) to see this. I think it is hard for someone like me to make noise since A) I am not as informed B) have no direct connections to the powers that be and C) am a bit nervous of going into battle alone against these guys. SOLIDARITY to me is the key....I would be more than happy to get something together with others and make some noise about what the PEOPLE want...not what some guy that lives in Westlake wants that seems to think RTA is a great thing! I want to thank you for the violent wretching I had to endure before I wrote this post!! After wiping my chin and splashing some cool water on my face...I found the strength to write this....seeing the "what could have been" maps of the transit and subway made me sick! Damn that would have been nice and I am SURE it would have kept density in the city...jobs or not! Not having to drive anywhere makes life a LOT easier...but again...what the hell do I know? :) Thanks KJP

It's not hard to figure out that Cleveland isn't NYC or even Chicago...but what is!?!?! I am sick and tired of playing the "bitch" role to other cities. Cleveland was once a joke, but we are coming back in a strong way. I look at a few other cities (one being Detroit) that looks at Cleveland and gives us our props for doing good things here...why the F_CK can't WE do the same thing for ourselves? Instead of having a Chicago or NYC style place...why can't it be a unique, cool, hip, place that is Clevelandesque? Until the media, bar/club/restaurant owners, and residents themselves quit falling in love with other places...and start loving Cleveland...this crap will never end.

KJP, I have closely read many of your posts on UrbanOhio, but the ones that really catch my interest are about developement and TRANSPORTATION. Plain and simple, how can we get you hired to be in charge of RTA!?!?!?! :) I get more depressed when I read all of your articles and see the direction that RTA, ODOT, the city, and the region seem to go.....nowhere progressive! Again, how can we bring our(your) ideas into the general public forum? Take polls? get developers involved? etc... On another note, (I seem to like to torture myself), do you happen to have the routes that were planned for the Cleveland subway system (that obviously never happened)...maps maybe? Thanks
