5 point lead...1:37 left...you shoot a THREE? The three point shots at the end of the game baffled me!! Take the two, drive the paint, get a foul....makes no sense what they did. Coach Brown needs to be the true leader here and pund common sense play into these guys when it comes down to the wire...oh well.....game six it is...
  2. THANK YOU KJP!!! The only thing that really irks me more is the replacing then/than thing!
  3. Second victory in a row!!! Cleveland 13 Charlotte 10
  4. Not sure if any of you were there for the game, but it was a beautiful day for a football game, a surprisingly nice crowd was there...and WE WON with a low scoring, yet hard hitting game, of 12-3

  6. ff=firefighter The league has a very good website www.NPSFL.com that lists all of the teams and their schedules, score, etc etc FDNY and NYPD are the two top teams and have been in the league for a while...we play an unofficial NYC team (sanitation dept) this year even though it isn't listed on the league website (but it is listed on our sorry ass website when you link onto it). Our first ever game is April 5th at Collinwood athletic complex on E 152nd St. South of St. Clair @1PM...we will be playing Chicago (who has already called to inform us that they are looking forward for a weekend away in Cleveland and its too bad they have to waste time playing us because it will take away from leisure time here...in other words they already marked it as a victory for them!!!) Would love to see some of you at the game! Root for all of us, but especially for your Urbanohio buddy #45!
  7. We are having a fundraiser on March 29th at the CPPA hall on W58th North of Detroit Ave. 8PM start time, includes booze, food, and DJ. $20 donation. I would love to see all of you make it....if not, then I would really love to see you all at the game on the 5th!
  8. Cleveland Warriors join National Public Safety Football League Monday, March 24, 2008 Mark PuentePlain Dealer Reporter When the Cleveland Warriors aren't banging helmets on the gridiron, they're chasing criminals, dousing fires and saving lives. The football players are firefighters, police officers and paramedics from Greater Cleveland, plus a few military recruiters stationed in the area. The team kicks off its inaugural season next month in the National Public Safety Football League. The 21-team league is made up of public-safety workers from cities across the country, including Los Angeles, Chicago and Atlanta. The teams get money throughout the year from fund-raisers and ticket sales to games and donate it to charity. The Warriors plan to donate proceeds to the Ronald McDonald House, the American Cancer Society and local military support groups. More at cleveland.com http://www.cleveland.com

^ Very true...this long deliberation makes me wonder what side they are going to rule for. The length in comiong to a decision makes me think that they are going to rule for the city, but at the same time, why would the same court rule in favor of a fired employee that was fire BEFORE the state law was in effect? This case will be going to the state supreme court anyway, so all involved may as well get used to waiting.
  10. Do Columbus and Cincinnati have parades as well?

Those are actually street boxes (or pull boxes), and they actually ARE in service in Lakewood. Cleveland, like many other larger cities phased them out because of the frequecy of false alarms that were generated by people pulling them. Good thread on Lakewood. I was actually working on one of my own but now you beat me to it!! Oh well, maybe I will post it anyway when I am done...
  12. I LOVE the information that I get on this board..transportation, projects, etc etc...but the only thing that sometimes gets to me is the idea that some of the neighborhoods are nice and peaceful that really aren't at all. I know that people want their neighborhood not to be perceived as bad..but sometimes these neighborhoods just ARE. I know that perception (ex OTR in Cincy) and the reality of an area like the 4th District Police area can be the same. I have been on the CFD for 12 years, and until this past year, worked my whole career in that area. I hate to break anyones bubble, but that area is bad. I have seen more violence in that area than almost any area of the city that I have worked. What some people don't realize is that just because something isn't on the news or in the paper, doesn't mean it isn't happeneing. Trust me, there have been many shootings, stabbings, or beatings in that immediate area (to which I have responded) that never make it in the media...I am assuming only because they were non-fatal. I guess I should also say, there are nice nabes...such as Luke Easter Point, Shaker Square, and the Lee-Miles area (even though it has been slowly changing). I guess my advice is to not be lulled into thinking the whole area is all "bunnies and clouds" because of a few nice areas. Trust me, ask most CPD and they will tell you the "4th" is a VERY active area. This being said, please don't jump down my throat for giving you all a viewpoint from not just working IN the area, but actually working the whole area.

Great pics Ink! Okay..where is Burnham? :?
  14. According to 2004-2005 stats, Cleveland spent $10,115 per pupil while Brunswick spent $7,725 per pupil. I don't think that money is the biggest problem with schools, it is home life and family values (NOT trying to sound like GW!!!) I would be willing to bet that Brunswick has a much higher grad rate than Cleveland City. It isn't the building, the newest books, the best computers, or the newest teaching styles that make a good school. It is the ability for the teachers to be able to teach, the ability of the students to behave themselves and learn, and the willingness for the parents to take responsibility in their children's lives. The teachers that teach in Cleveland come from the same universities that teachers from Hudson come from, so let's not blame the inabilities of the teachers as well. I, as well as some of the other forumers close to my age (38) learned old school style and we seem to be pretty well educated. Insert reliance on computers, calculators, and "new and better" teaching methods, and our country seems to be slipping in world ranks in education. Its easy to blame the teachers, schools, and the almighty dollar, but when you get down to brass tacks, it all starts at home! You don't need a fancy school to be educated (ie Abe Lincoln), you need the guidance and willingness to learn. Okay Mayday...BACK ON TOPIC! :)
  15. That was a misprint..it was at E 105th and Superior
  16. Have there been any letters to the editor (PD) or letters to Eaton sent by anyone on this board with these concerns? We do a great job of backing our complaints to each other, but we need to get these complaints and explanations out to the general public. I am guilty of not being the squeaky wheel on this topic, but I have on others. I too hope this doesn't turn out to be a "Progressive" type campus.
  17. You two kill me!!! LOL I think it is just fine to be asked about football....I don't think MTS has another angle here...but if so, thanks for looking out MayDay! ;)
  18. I play TE/OLB..and that is me catching the pass over the middle from the QB not wearing a helmet. Hope you all get to see us try and compete this year! :)
  19. A story done by Channel 19 here in Cleveland... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuDanu1jc4Y
  20. ^ The article mentioned that "five years later that ridership is down"....but the projects mentioned in the article haven't broken ground yet!! The flats East bank project are slated to start in the near future and will bring a mix use area of business and residential..along with that will be a definite increase in ridership. I love how these people will spin an article the way THEY want it to be rather than to put facts out there for people to make decisions on. And yes...the Cleveland RTA rail ridership IS up for the past year! Eacy quater is consistantly goes up. Why not present that to the people Cincy so they can see it DOES work!
  21. I hope that everyone on here not only voices their opinions to this forum, but to the developers as well. ANOTHER surface lot? are you kidding me? This is not a very urban design if you ask me. I have written emails to developers before and I will again when it comes to issues such as these. Why does it seem that the vision of these urban engineers is to turn DT Cleveland into a suburban style "paradise"? If parking is needed on this avenue, which is supposed to be transformed into a public transit model...then why not go vertical, either above or below ground? Yes, the cost is more, but for God's sake have some vision into what an urban area is to look like....lots of infill and PLENTY of pedestrian traffic. I am mixed about the "pocket park" planned for this area. If parks are planned in an area where there are plenty of pedestrians and residents..great. It seems thought that the major open spaces downtown are either poorly planned, too secluded from other people, or in an area that are only used from 9-5..if that! (Public square, the park between city hall and the court house, and the park in front of the convention center). Not saying these parks aren't nice, or a nice idea...but are they really in the most advantageous areas for use? I would rather see a small park incorporated in the area for Starks plan and see some of the other areas developed to an extent. Just a thought.
  22. The thing (other than the produce and such) I love most about the WSM is the true urban flair it has. It isn't fancy, it doesn't have a suburban feel...you can walk through there most of the time and hear MANY different languages spoken, the crowds, the bartering...not to sound typical Cleveland comparison...but it makes you feel like you are in a place like NYC, at least it does for me.

Still would love to see a true point guard, not sure if Bibby is the answer, but it would be nice. (if we didn't have to give up too much)

Tough league for an over 30 guy to make it in...it's all about the speed and conditioning over size. Not saying that you are done over 30, but it sure gets tougher!

Man I hope they BOTH sign!!! I am already looking forward to next season!
