  1. A reply on Columbus Underground’s Facebook post said that it looks like the late Neil House downtown. It just needs a section connecting the towers instead of having a cavern.
  2. Lowendick is about to claim another victim in Watts Hall.
  3. A friend of mine who is in the know about church stuff on the University Area told me a couple of interesting things. First, that University Baptist is looking to develop their plot into a mixed use building part of which the church will occupy. He said it was gonna be the whole stretch from Lane to Norwich but I don’t know if they own all that land. Second, this might be public already though I couldn’t find mention of it, that Summit on 16th Methodist Church will be leaving their building on 16th and Waldeck and merging with another Methodist congregation. That leaves a nice plot close to the 15th and High development that I’m sure the vultures are circling over.
  4. Another Gateway tenant bites the dust. Five Guys isn’t just closed, it’s gone. And I swear I passed by the other day and it was open.
  5. The School of Music had a contest to name the crane for their new facilities. The winner was Gustav Hoist
  6. Here’s a couple ‘aerials’ of the site from apple maps.
  7. I was watching the architecture episode of Columbus Neighborhoods and they showed a model of an expansion of the Christopher Inn featuring a space needle with rotating restaurant. Looked around this site and the rest of the internet and it doesn’t seem to be posted anywhere except in the video. I figured it was worth sharing for those who have not seen it. Funny thing is that it appears that the land where this would have been built is only a parking lot so an updated version could still be built there if anyone with nostalgia and very deep pockets wanted to.
  8. I’m sure it’s wishful/optimistic thinking on the developers part but who knows. In the meantime it’s a great place for a billboard or mural.
  9. Just noticed the bricked over windows on the eastern side. Wonder if they’re expecting a new neighbor at what’s currently the steakhouse.
