Cincinnati: Potential New Arena
It's pretty common knowledge FC Cincinnati ownership group is planning to finance this with infrastructure incentives and tax incrememt financing. As near to their developments as possible. The Cyclones would be a tenant. They also want 1 major league sports tenant.Probably a NHL franchise.

Not so sure the LLC listed address is located at his law offices. https://www.mapquest.com/us/ohio/stagnaro-saba-patterson-303639902 Seems Pat Veath is the property owner and has ties to Wakefield Development

Mason: Lindner Family Tennis Center / Cincinnati Open
John Barrett floated the idea of building a tennis complex downtown. https://audioboom.com/posts/8096246-that-s-so-cincinnati-western-southern-s-john-barrett-on-retractable-roof-arena-tennis-tourney That is about the time he was still in the bid to buy the tournament.Id say it is a pipedream at this point. Fun fact the Davis Cup was held in the Convention Center in the early 80's

Mason: Lindner Family Tennis Center / Cincinnati Open
Yeah the $150 million is just for the 1st phase of expansion in Mason.$375 million is a multiple phase project. The $150 mil project keeps the tournament in Mason though. The tournament field doubles in size in 2025 so the tournament facility needs double the court space by then. The $375 millon basically rebuilds the current stadiums and expands the new player facilities and new courts.

Not really.Word is this is leaning towards staying in Mason.Timeframe and rising construction costs for a new build $500 plus facility being the main cause.

Cincinnati Southern Railway
The current mayor appoints railroad board members approved by a majority of council after.I believe the board actually will be dissolved if this gets approved.

Cincinnati Southern Railway
These are the exact details of the sale if voter approced.I also know no funds can be spent if the fund dips below 1.2 billion until the principal is replenished at 1.6 billion. There are safeguards in place but like any trust it is not guaranteed to grow above 1.6 billion over time highly likely yes but not a fact. "The primary job of the CSR Board of Trustees is to manage the Cincinnati Southern Railroad as an asset for the benefit of a single beneficiary - the City of Cincinnati. We have concluded, after considering the advice of outside experts, that selling SR for $1.6 billion to create a trust fund of professionally managed financial assets will likely more than double what the City might have received from future railroad lease payments. In 2024 alone, lease proceeds are projected at approximately $26.5 million. Potential trust fund earnings of 5.5% (a conservative estimate on a $1.6 billion portfolio would be $88 million. After reinvesting 2% ($32 million) into the trust fund to ensure its continued growth, the remaining 3.5% ($56 million) would be available for improvements to City of Cincinnati existing infrastructure and SR operations."

2025 date seems important per this.I think Mason has the advantage because of logistics being ready by 2025 to double in size. https://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2023/06/22/western-southern-open-tennis-lindner-charlotte.html

Mason: Lindner Family Tennis Center / Cincinnati Open
Depends on several factors but mostly the tennis complex. There is only 2 tennis complexs in the United States with 30 courts that can host the new requirements of a 1000 level tournament today.Lot easier to get to that level of tennis complex needed in Mason than anywhere else. And I imagine Western & Southern will bring another tournament into Mason with the needed infrastructure upgrades.
-
Mason: Lindner Family Tennis Center / Cincinnati Open
Yes and if anything with the ATP having a lease until 2029 with the Lindner complex Mason would very likely get a replacement tournament until that date.A 1000 level tournament is maybe even possible as the ATP wants to expand those number of tournaments.

Mason: Lindner Family Tennis Center / Cincinnati Open
Looking at the logistics of relocating this tournament or staying and expanding it.If relocating to Charlotte it is just not possible to build a half a billion dollar tennis complex with 30 courts by 2025.I guess the tournament could relocate to New York for a year or 2 again but that is not ideal.Mason is really 2 phases of expansion proposed the initial $150 million to be ready by 2025 and $375 million long term plan.Keeping it in Mason is the only way not to logistically screw this tournament and fan base up for years

Jason Williams is a click bait writer and has always been that.Beemok does not own the surrounding property at the proposed tennis complex in Charlotte. This isn't a done deal by any means

Pretty detailed information.Greater Cincinnati needs to keep this. https://www.journal-news.com/community/mason-state-propose-millions-of-dollars-to-keep-professional-tennis-tournament/YB6E36QCKNF43OA57DYHWYOSAE/

Mason: Lindner Family Tennis Center / Cincinnati Open
Yeah I still like Cincinnati's chances of keeping this just due to the cost and the Mason complex already being in place. South Carolina billionaire Ben Navarro bought the Western & Southern Open from the USTA last summer, and the event is his to do as he pleases. The tournament is a private business. Navarro can’t be forced to keep it at the Lindner Family Tennis Center. Navarro and Western & Southern CEO John Barrett recently met as part of Greater Cincinnati’s efforts to keep the tournament. A move to Charlotte isn’t imminent, I’m told, but Cincinnati can’t afford any hiccups in the effort to fund a $150 million expansion to the Lindner Family Tennis Center. https://www.cincinnati.com/story/sports/columnists/jason-williams/2023/05/25/skepticism-grows-about-keeping-western-southern-open-tennis-tournament-in-cincinnati/70256502007/

Mason: Lindner Family Tennis Center / Cincinnati Open
A huge factor that isn't mentioned is this tournament has too double in size by 2025.Charlottes tennis complex would not be ready until 2026 at the earliest date.....So?
-
Mason: Lindner Family Tennis Center / Cincinnati Open
The ATP has to sign off on any relocation.Could be it stays.Either way the tournament needs to have double the amount of courts it currently has.The ATP tournament field is going from 56 to 92 players and from 7 to 14 days in length https://www.wcpo.com/news/local-news/warren-county/mason/western-southern-open-owner-proposes-moving-tennis-tournament-from-mason-to-charlotte

Mason: Lindner Family Tennis Center / Cincinnati Open
Not sure why the tournament would go to the Ohio House for $ 22.5 million with $150 mil expansion plans if it wasn't being considered.I think if Charlotte gets their funding in place it probably relocates though.
