Cincinnati: Clifton: Development and News
From CTM: Cliftonites: As you are undoubtedly aware, there currently is a vacant lot in the heart of the Ludlow Business District where the Bender Optical Building once stood. Earlier this year when the City demolished the building it was with the clear understanding that a plaza would be built on the site; and that the plaza would be build in conjunction with the street improvement currently underway on Ludlow. Only after the building was torn down was the Clifton community informed by City administration that there were funding and other issues which essentially put the construction of a plaza on the site "on hold", thus leaving the site essentially as it is today for an unknown period of time. CTM finds this unacceptable. CTM has sought the assistance of City Council member John Cranley. Mr. Cranley has stated his intention to introduce a motion calling for the City to properly fund the construction of the Plaza on the former Bending Optical site; and also to commence construction of the plaza this Fall. In order for this motion to pass it will require the approval of at least 5 City Council members. Because CTM believes that the status quo is unacceptable and that the construction of a plaza on the Bender Optical site is in the best interests of the Clifton community, CTM is encouraging all Clifton residents to support Mr. Cranley's motion; and to make your support known to members of City Council. It is very important to the success of the motion to construct the plaza that City Council members are aware of the importance of this issue to the Clifton community and the high level of support among Clifton community members for it. On Sunday, *August 3rd at 2pm* there will be a press conference at the Bender Optical site. The following day, *Monday, August 4th, at 1pm* it is expected that Mr. Cranley's motion will be considered by the City Finance Committee. The Committee meets at the Myron Bush Recreation Center, 2640 Kemper Lane in Walnut Hills; On *Wednesday, August 6th at 1:30pm* it is expected that Mr. Cranley's motion will be considered by the full City Council. City Council meets at the Woodward Career Technical High School, 7005 Reading Road in Bond Hill. *CTM is encouraging Clifton Community members to attend as many of these events as possible to show your support for the plaza issue*. We realize that due to the time of day or location of the meetings that many of you may not be able to attend. You may also write, phone, or e-mail members of City Council to indicate your support for the construction of the Clifton plaza. I have attached contact information for members of Council. Since not every Clifton resident is subscribed to this list serve, please forward this e-mail to other Clifton residents who you feel have an interest in this issue. Gary Eby Secretary -CTM This News is brought to you by the Clifton Town Meeting, your neighborhood community council. Please visit us at www.cliftoncommunity.org.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
you wont need to have new parking because people from outside the area would be parking @ the banks and fountain sq. For what its worth I live uptown and work downtown, I dont really want a connector I would rather have light rail running from northside to oakley passing threw clifton first then a connector downtown later on. A streetcar in clifton would work but it would be best if it just went from ludlow to shortvine (or short vine <->calhoon <-> ludlow)and circulated people that way.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
I think this guy is confused with the free parking on the street area and the places were you have to pay to park. So logically the people park their cars for free and jump on the street car to get to were they want to go. Plus the paid parking with in this zone help contribute to the cost of running the street car. I'm Sure John Schneider can back me up on this or adjust my statement if i'm a little off.

Examining OTR: Social, Political and Economic Impacts of Redevelopment
my issue is 2 many buildings are held buy people who don't want to sell, because of the section 8 crap. If i wanted to buy a building to convert into my house, (I want one of those 3 story buildings) but their is no way i can afford to buy a building even a commended one that i could turn into a hidden gem. To many people are holding onto property waiting for this gentrification, while collecting section 8 checks. thats what I think is holding the neighborhood back. IMHO

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Hmm... aren't their more jobs in the cincy business district then in north OTR? So realy you are linking everyone who lives in NOTR to all the downtown jobs. This comment is laughable, I'm sure more then white males live in and are moving into the business district. Plus getting up to Findlay market or the vine st kroger for your groceries would be a need, and not a want. esp with out a car. why do we have to bring race, and gender into a discussion on adding to our city's infrastructure trying to make it a better place for all.

Fixing urban cores an agenda for Politics?
"Now both have a skill and a future. After graduating, they'll start earning $15 to $20 an hour. Bradley wants to eventually own his own business. "It's taught me I don't have to hustle to be successful," he said." Not true; you do have to hustle to be successful. Its just a different game, you have to play by the rules.

I have a tip for you, get an old pot or crock-pot fill it with water and put in your hardware let the water come to a boil and the paint will come right off. http://thisoldcrackhouse.blogspot.com/2007/12/refinishing-vintage-lighting-part-1.html

[dreaming]why cant they just get to gether and sell a final friday lightrail pass that lets you ride from downtown through Oakley and back all night long for 5$ or so. [/dreaming] why fight over it, Oakley if anything doesn't need as much help as OTR needs. I have been to both and the Oakley FF is so much differant that the mains st one.
